4.  Cauliflower is often considered one of the healthiest foods on
Earth, and there is good reason why. With its rich supply of
health-promoting photochemical, high level of anti-
inflammatory compounds, and ability to ward off cancer,
heart disease, brain disease and even weight gain, it seems
there isn’t much cauliflower is unable to do.

5.  Cool and humid condition is optimum for the growth
of cauliflower.
 Monthly average temperature between 15 – 22 0 C is
favorable for cauliflower production.
 Well drained soil having irrigation facility is good
for cauliflower
 cultivation. But can be grown in any type of soil
under intensive care.
 The soil should be rich in organic matter and be
fertile with a soil p H 6.0 – 6.5.

7.  August is the time for planting early varieties.
 September is the time for planting intermediate
varieties
 Seeds should be sown by October for late
varieties.

8. o To get a good crop strong and stout seedlings should
be planted.
 Therefore, seeds are thickly sown in the first seed
bed.
 After emergence, seedlings of 10 – 12 days old are
transferred to the second seed bed.
 Size of each seed bed should be 1 x 3m to facilitate
intercultural operations.
 Each seed bed of 1 x 3m size should be fertilized
with 150g TSP,
 100g Urea, and 100g MP, 7 – 8 days before
transplanting to the second seed bed.

9.  A sunny land should be selected for cauliflower
cultivation.
 Deep plugging should be done followed by
laddering.
 For planting, beds of 1m wide and 15-20cm high
should be prepared to accommodate 2 rows of
cauliflower plants. A 30cm drain should be kept
between the two beds which will facilitate irrigation
and drainage.

10.  To get a good crop strong and stout seedlings should be
planted.
 The seedlings of 30 – 35 days old should be transplanted in
the field.
 Spacing : 60cm from row to row and 45cm from plant to plant
 The seed bed should be watered one day ahead of
transplanting.
 This facilitates easy uprooting of seedlings.
 The seedlings should be uprooted in the afternoon or in a cool
day.
 This favors easy establishment of seedlings in the field.

13.  After planting transplants should be watered for the
following 4-5 days.
 Afterwards irrigation should be given at an interval of 10
days.
 Fertilizers should be applied according to the
recommendation and this should follow irrigation.
