employees are hired, new teams and departments are created as the
company grows, and businesses adopt new technology to stay
ahead of the curve .

Strategic planning is a process in which an
organization's leaders define their vision for the future
and identify their organization's goals and objectives. The
process includes establishing the sequence in which
those goals should be realized so that the organization
can reach its stated vision

STRATEGIC
CHANGE
A car manufacturer notices that its top competitor has begun
selling electric models. The company determines that to stay
competitive, it must also begin offering electric vehicles as c
onsumer interest in these models continue to grow.
Example
PEPOLE-CENTRIC CHANGE
A people-centric change requires transparency, communication, effectiv
e leadership, and an empathetic approach. Note: Many change manage
ment models, such as the Kubler-Ross Change Curve and Satir Change
Model, focus specifically on managing emotional reactions to change.
Leadership can be defined as the ability of the management to make soun
d decisions and inspire others to perform well. It is the process of directing
the behavior of others towards achieving a common goal. In short, leaders
hip is getting things done through others.
Good organizational behavior can enhance employee performance, and in
crease job engagement and satisfaction. And if it encourages healthy com
petition, creates a safe space for discussion and feedback, and facilitates
seamless collaboration and idea-sharing, it is more likely to succeed over i
ts peers.

People like purposeful change.
Communicating the value of the change is essential. If you are adding
a responsibility to someone's role, the employee will be more likely to
receive the news well if they understand the reason behind it
Consider the following options for announcing the new responsibility:
Option A: "Starting next month, the marketing team will be required to
use Oracle to create monthly reports on email marketing efforts.“
Option B; Changes to roles snd responsibilities

STRUCTURAL
CHANGE
• Structural change models focus on the different productivity levels of economies
• Process of structural change determines the rate of development
. Can such structural changes be accommodated?
Less developed nations tend to be dominated by primary industries - low value added
, difficult to generate wealth and thus sources of investment
• Developed nations diverse economies, high value added, high levels of investment
Structural change can be encouraged by incentives
Example
■ Cooperatives or nonprofit businesses for poor
■ Workforce development programs linked to real jobs negotiated be
cause of community actions
■ End of redlining and other discriminatory housingpractices
■ Voter registration and mobilization Ethnic markets that meet needs
of minority communities.
■ Health clinics and effective worker safety programs

Technological
change
The process of technological change starts with invention. Then, the invention goes through innovations wh
ere it improves and is used. The process ends with diffusion, where technology is spread across industrie
s and societies.
• Technological change: improvements in the products, production processes, material
and intermediate inputs and management methods in the economic system
• The increasing market competition and constantly evolving technology lead to techno
logical change within organizations. Technology change often involves introducing new
software or system to improve business processes.

use print media, such as newspapers and magazines, to reach their ta
rget audiences.
Today, however, businesses can use a variety of digital marketing tool
s to reach their target audiences, including search engine optimization,
pay-per-click advertising, social media marketing, and content marketi
ng. These digital marketing tools are not only more effective than tradit
ional marketing methods, but they’re also more affordable.

For example: Changes in government regulations and change in
economy often lead to organizational change.

REMEDIAL
CHANGE
Remedial change is more focused, urgent and visible becaus
e it addresses current major problems.
This type of change occurs when a problem is identified, and a solution needs t
o be implemented. As these changes are designed to address an issue; they cal
l for immediate action.
Reactionary change may not be ideal, but it’s inevitable. The benefit of the reme
dial change is that judging its success is quick and simple with just one question
– was the problem solved or not

Gaming company Activision realized that each time they released a game, customers had
a lot of questions and feedback. Agents were prepared for a surge of incoming calls, but A
ctivision realized that their customers preferred to go straight to social media. They had to
change their process.
Activision used Salesforce to implement Marketing Cloud’s Social Studio. Marketing Cloud
automatically tracks relevant tweets and social media conversations and uploads them to
Service Cloud. Now, customers can either be directed to self-service solutions or connect
ed to a live agent.

  • 7. PEPOLE-CENTRIC CHANGE A people-centric change requires transparency, communication, effectiv e leadership, and an empathetic approach. Note: Many change manage ment models, such as the Kubler-Ross Change Curve and Satir Change Model, focus specifically on managing emotional reactions to change. Leadership can be defined as the ability of the management to make soun d decisions and inspire others to perform well. It is the process of directing the behavior of others towards achieving a common goal. In short, leaders hip is getting things done through others. Good organizational behavior can enhance employee performance, and in crease job engagement and satisfaction. And if it encourages healthy com petition, creates a safe space for discussion and feedback, and facilitates seamless collaboration and idea-sharing, it is more likely to succeed over i ts peers. 02

Can such structural changes be accommodated? Less developed nations tend to be dominated by primary industries - low value added , difficult to generate wealth and thus sources of investment • Developed nations diverse economies, high value added, high levels of investment Structural change can be encouraged by incentives

Reactionary change may not be ideal, but it’s inevitable. The benefit of the reme dial change is that judging its success is quick and simple with just one question – was the problem solved or not
