2. OBJECTIVES OF THE TOPIC
Trainees must learn the significance of positive attitude
and confidence
Trainees must develop an actual assessment of them to
develop confidence
3. 5 STEPS TO COVER THE TOPIC
Step 1: What is Attitude?
Attitude is the reaction or response to any situation
either physical or observational, based on reactions
of our Mind (Head) and Emotions (Heart)
Mind contains information or actual details, and
emotions are the ways we feel about that
information.
4. Example: On seeing a Black T-Shirt, one may consider it
as:
Just a Black t-shirt = Neutral Attitude (considering the thing
based on mind or factual information)
Wonderful Black t-shirt = Positive Attitude (If the person likes
black color or have positive emotions towards black color)
Ridiculous Black t-shirt = Negative Attitude (If the person don’t
like black color or have negative emotions towards black color)
5. Step 2: How positive attitude helps you out?
Whenever a person looks at any situation, event or
person with a positive attitude, she/he focuses over the
best part. And, this in turn, keep you happy, when happy
you are motivated and energized and could do whatever
you want.
And, if you focus over what is missing or lacking, she/he
feels bad, and loses energy over what cannot be
changed, in that particular situation.
6. Step 3: What is the difference between attitude
and confidence?
Attitude is externally directed, towards
things/events/persons other than you.
Confidence is internally directed how are you, exactly.
7. Step 4: What is Confidence?
When you look at yourself using the information of your
mind and emotions of your heart it is Confidence.
Example: On seeing yourself or thinking about yourself,
you may consider yourself as:
8. A person having some good qualities and some
drawbacks = Confidence (You assess what you are
exactly)
You focus over what you lack = Under Confidence (You
assess yourself based on your negative points only)
You focus over what you have = Over Confidence (You
assess yourself based on your positive points only)
9. ACTIVITY: I AM… I CAN… I WILL
Objective: To make trainees analyze what good
qualities or strengths they have and what all they
could achieve in their lives.
Group Size: Individual activity, wherein, every
trainee has to mark their responses by writing it
down
Time Distribution:
Description of Activity & setting rules- 5 minutes
Activity I Am..I Can..I Will- 10 minutes
Discussion- 15 minutes
10. Material: Paper, Pen, Sketches
Description:
Powerful positive thinking is self talk that encourages and
promotes healthy thought process.
It is valuable because people tend to be quick to talk about
what they believe to be their negative qualities.
And thus thinking in terms of what positive qualities one has
and what he/she can do or achieve instills a continual
feeling of positivity and self confidence.
11. Begin a discussion about the difference between positive
and negative self talk.
Ask each trainee to talk about a time they accomplished
something they are proud of.
When everyone has their turn ask them to write down
their qualities which helped them in achieving the same.
12. Ask trainees to write down their responses to following:
I Am (A statement of who they are)
I Can (A statement of what they can do)
I Will (A Statement of self belief, What they think they will
surely achieve)
When they are all finished, invite everyone to share their
powerfully positive thinking statements with the group.
Encourage participants to place the cards in their rooms, on
their mirrors, in their diaries and read it every now and then.
The statements could de decorated using colors, if time
allows.
13. Discussion points:
Why do people often struggle with talking about
their positive qualities?
What are some ways you can combat your
negative thinking with positive thinking?
How will you use what you have learned today?
