Department: Release to market

As soon as I had read:“Amadeus, global travel distribution system, is
currently looking for an intern in Marketing Communications (Release
to Market trainee). This offer is a 6-month internship to be filled in
September based in Nice – south of France” I just knew that the slot
was for me! Okay, actually I just thought “Wow, Nice!”
Since I have started my article like this, it is clear to all of you that
(aha, you got it!) I got the position. I have been happily working in
the Release to Market team for a while, and cannot begin to
appreciate how lucky I am to be a part of this awesome team. We
regularly find time to have cupcake meetings and random/scheduled
croissant breakfasts on the terrace of EC (reserved for sunny days
only), amongst all the hard work.
So, let’s talk about our team’s pride and joy, Amadeus Portfolio
Essentials. Before we start, this is the cue for me to tell you that I
have a relatively limited view on what actually goes on in the
company. 6 months is far too short for an individual to understand a
company, especially a huge one like Amadeus. So I am going to tell
you what I witness every Monday to Friday.
There are 4 staff, and 2 trainees, in the Release to Market team.
Sounds typical, but I am telling you that it is a small number
compared to the things we get done in terms of release to market
communication.
There are over 40 products in the commercial portfolio that need our
undivided attention, and of course, everything needs to be done in a
timely manner with A+ quality. We all invest and do our parts, and
somehow product communication, presentations, banners, rollouts,
release packs, FAQs, and all other marketing and sales supporting
materials, go to one place: Amadeus Portfolio Essentials - c’est
magique! I can proudly say that Portfolio Essentials is the holy grail of
all Amadeus product information for travel agencies and corporations.
That site is one of the main keys, if not the key, to connect, serve and
manage our travel agency customers. At least in the way I see it,
Portfolio Essentials connects us: as an individual in a team, as a
team to a company, as a company to our customers, and our
customers to their customers - the link goes on and on.
In a nutshell, this is one of the things my team builds, enhances, and
maintains, but by all means, feel free to correct me if I am not exact.
Do check out the site, play around with it, and why not let us know
what you think of Amadeus Portfolio Essentials. Who knows, you
might discover a thing or two about the commercial portfolio that you
did not know before...
Lastly, I would like to thank the Travel Agency Marketing (TAM)
department, and especially my Release to Market mentors and
colleagues, for making my internship an enjoyable and worthwhile
experience. You will all be missed, along with the moelleux au
chocolat in the main canteen!
