13. Question 11:
Do you have any comments on the course, how it
is delivered or the technologies used?
• The course is delivered at a very good pace. It’s covers an wide range of in demand technologies. The practical nature of the course
is very welcome and mean you can start building software almost immediately. The online recorded and live videos are of very
high quality and the labs and very clear and reinforce for course learning.
• I think a bigger module on react or perhaps the use of react sooner would be great :)
• Excellent course that offers very valuable skills and experience for the IT industry. Lecturers are highly knowledgeable and helpful.
Very useful to be able to rewatch lectures or revisit material.
• Very well delivered, tutors / slack work very well. Overall all excellent.
• I think it maybe useful to get all 3 weeks of lectures at the start of each block if possible. I know this may not work as some
lecturers do live classes. But sometimes I think you can be working on assignment and are a bit blocked until the next lecture
comes out.
• Technologies used are well-suited to the course
• Nice to see Tutors constantly evolving along with topics covered. It is great to see the course material being updated each year.
• Very innovative course delivery that works brilliantly for students that need the flexibility to fit their college work in around other
commitments. Having frequent reading weeks offers students the opportunity to catch up, take stock of where they're at, and
plan/take breaks when they are able to.
• Assessment load at various times can be overwhelming. I think the break up of Enterprise software development into full stack
and security made this a bit more challenging. The mobile application development content sequencing doesn't allow you to work
on the assignments in a smart way e.g. firebase only fully introduced in final 2 weeks but this is needed to implement mvvm
properly. I'd split mobile apps into two 5 credit modules delivered in sequence and possibly move something else into the final
term ( maybe devops)
14. Question 11:
Do you have any comments on the course, how it
is delivered or the technologies used?
• It is so beneficial for any coder
• Pace is very fast. I came from a non-coding background. I can see how beneficial some coding experience would have been coming
into the course. Without it, the learning curve is steep. Course itself if you have experience is excellent
• A large jump in quantity of material in the second semester, found it more difficult to stay on top of all of the material required
• Happy with the technologies used as part of the course and could not think of any alternatives
• Excellent delivery, all lecturers are very knowledgable and inject a lot of character into their talks which really helps engagement
with more technical material. Students are exposed to a wide range of technologies that helps to create familiarity and confidence.
I also would say that the vast majority of material so far is fundamental and critical to building a foundational skillset in computer
science, there has been virtually no irrelevant information delivered.
• The delivery is good. I find that between Slack, different sections within sections for subjects etc. it can be very easy to miss some
information, dates, required downloads if you miss checking something
• It is good for some but I found it very difficult to learn without human interaction.
• Its 1 semester too long. With both summers taken up by ICT1 and 2, this last semester has felt just too much. Nothing to do with
the workload, it's just long enough. Plus, the interest in app dev is low, think this is mainly due to this being kind of niche now, as
Web apps are far more popular and the skills are far more transferable. I think if you started the final project in aug with ict2
maybe and finished in xmas. It would be better. make up the credits by possibly increasing AWS content / include course around
docker etc.
15. Question 12:
Do you have any comments on the overall online
student experience on this course?
• Very good
• More in person classes would be beneficial as it's nice to be able to ask questions then and there.
• Seemed a bit disorganised at times which was frustrating. But it does prepare you for a role in the
ICT sector.
• It’s a great student experience. The slack channels are invaluable for resolving issues and student
helping each other with common problems. The assignments are interesting and can be doable or
challenging depending on the marks you are aiming for.
• Great student experience the use of slack was very effective
• The online engagement officer helped greatly in bringing students together online to create a well
connected online community.
• Its excellent
• Excellent.
• Best course ever 😊
• Excellent experience. I find the course equally engaging as any on-site course I have ever taken.
16. Question 12:
Do you have any comments on the overall online
student experience on this course?
• Excellent experience. I find the course equally engaging as any on-site course I have ever taken.
• Excellent student experience on Slack. Students and tutors are always very helpful and supportive, and there's always someone
there to answer questions, which students are actively encouraged to ask. On-site workshops are great for meeting both students,
tutors and people from industry in person.
• Generally it's great
• Amazing staff that will do anything for ya
• Everything was great. Except last module Mobile App Dev which is harder than any other especially for people who don't want to
do it professionally.
• Could provide more specific feedback on assignments as it can be difficult to figure out where an issue might be arising
• The online experience has been great. Use of Slack by the students themselves has been very good. Although don't post often, it is
a very reassuring that it is there if needed
• I cannot fault it. I am engaged and regularly challenged and am empowered to seek solutions while being reassured that assistance
is at hand when I need it. I could not have imagined that I would learn so much in such a short duration.
• It is very good but moving between so many different programs so often, I find one of the biggest slowdowns while working can be
just learning the newer program. I feel that step by step videos showing exactly how examples are done for us to use as a template
just to navigate the programmes and get use to jumping between languages would be helpful. I am finding that I do somethings
just hoping to get to where the labs want me to be rather than being sure what I am doing to get there. Just some brief navigation
and the basics to save us second guessing what we are doing or where to find buttons and additions that we might have missed or
mixed up with other programmes. The labs do provide good solutions but a few more dedicated videos on how to start and work
the solutions in the programmes would be appreciated.
• Very good
