2. • In this slideshow presentation, I will be
analysing a range of different music
magazines, to help give me more information
about them, and the most common codes and
conventions. I will be looking at different
genre magazine to gain a wider
prospective, and to give me inspiration on
designing my music magazine.

3. Q magazine
Q magazine is a very conventional
magazine, because firstly the title is located in the
top left hand corner and the artists Madonna is
slightly covering the Q, which is normal whereas on
the next slide you’ll see this convention challenged.
The image Madonna herself is looking at the
reader, with strong eye contact showing her power
and control.
Madonna's name written in across the page comes
to the reader attention more than that actual title of
the magazine. However this isn’t a problem for Q
magazine , because they are arguable one of
Britain's biggest music magazine, therefore they
don’t need to advertise the name as much. The
biggest selling point her is Madonna to the public.

4. Vibe Magazine
Straight away, when looking at this magazine, I can see
that the title “VIBE” is over the image of the artist
“T.I.”, showing its importance. This is challenging the
conventions of music magazine, because more others
such as billboard, NME, Q and Kerrang, have the title
behind the artists image, because they’re a more
established magazine and people know there name.
The title is very Bold with a bright red contrast, centred
within the magazine showing it’s importance. IT also
standout from the black and white background, making
it come to the reader attention more.

5. NME
Unlike Vibe, but similarly to Q magazine, NME has
their title located in the top left hand corner of the
page, and has the artists image across the E and
partly covering the M, thus meaning NME are
following the magazine conventions.
'NME' is a popular and well recognized magazine, so
the editors are able to cover some title with images
and texts, because the magazine is still recognisable
to the target audience and will still sell to it’s readers
