Resources You Need. Experience You Trust
We all have many people with different
personalities in our relationship network.
Managing these personalities can lead to our own
success. Here are some advantages and dangers
of having certain personalities in your network of
people.
The Go-To Person
Do you have that person you can call at 2:00 in the morning if you
needed help?
Advantage: This is a valuable resource to have when you have a
critical issue that needs immediate attention
Danger: Overusing that resource for simple things without
showing appreciation or returning the value
The Complainer
Tired of hearing all the things that bother this person?
Advantage: You can show that you are a good listener and have
opportunities to offer advice
Danger: Can wear you down if you are not careful and force you to
show your frustration that can tarnish your positive image
The Self-Promoter
Tired of hearing how great this person is while knowing that he/she
is not all that great?
Advantage: You can always give this person challenges and
opportunities to prove he/she is that great
Danger: If he/she is not really that great, choose the challenges and
opportunities wisely or they may not be done to your satisfaction
The Introvert
Wondering to yourself if this person even likes you enough to
interact with you?
Advantage: Usually does not require a lot of your attention, and
therefore gives you time to focus on more important things
Danger: Not building a relationship with this person could cause
him/her to think that you are the problem
The Visionary
How does this person come up with some of this stuff?
Advantage: Some of this stuff may actually be great ideas. It may be
wise to listen
Danger: Brushing this person off every time could lead to discontent
and a lack of future effort
The Performer
Does this person always need to be the center of attention?
Advantage: Can provide entertainment in any social situation and
can easily break the ice in awkward ones
Danger: Can steal away your opportunities to network with persons
of interest
The Analyzer
Does everything always need to make logical sense before
proceeding?
Advantage: Analysis can provide useful insight backed by usable data
Danger: Can take away the “Lets do it and see what happens” risk
taking that is necessary for success
You
Have you ever wondered what personality your network of people
consider you?
Advantage: It lends to your efforts to support your personal brand
Danger: You may disagree with it.
