2. Welcome
Welcome to the Visitor Attractions Conference 2014.
As we come out of another summer, many attractions have the opportunity to
reflect on how their season has been. More and more attractions still have
significant parts of their season to experience including Halloween and
Christmas. The ‘traditional’ holiday season has changed and this conference will
reflect the different types of attractions that make up our industry.
During the early years of the ‘staycation’ it was felt that once prosperity returned
to the land, everyone would jet off to sunnier climates. It is possible that this year
has seen the first year, for a while, that consumer confidence has returned. Early
indications are that the attractions industry has stood up well against the
temptation to go abroad. There are many businesses who invested in their
product over the last few years and are now reaping the rewards.
I hope you enjoy the Conference this year and have the opportunity to learn
from some of the success stories and be inspired by the individuals that make up
this fantastic industry.
