Build a network of community trailblazers with leadership, innovative capabilities and skills to transform
public libraries as lifelong knowledge learning centres, providing need-based innovative services for
socio, economic & environmental development, co-creating through localised partnerships

International Network of Emerging Library Innovators(INELI India and South Asia)
MSSRF spearheads repositioning public libraries as lifelong learning centres, capacitating public librarians as
Community Innovative Trailblazers through INELI and IPLM across India and South Asia
Village Knowledge Centres concept scaled up through public libraries, by empowering their librarians to contribute
through innovative services in community development
2. Facts
81 Public Librarians are “Community Innovative Trailblazers” from 22 States and Union Territories of India & six
South Asian Countries (Bangladesh, Myanmar, Maldives, Nepal, India, and Sri Lanka, )
Integration of relevant PAN MSSRF programmes such as Plant Clinic, Soil Health, Tele Health, Clean Energy,
Biodiversity, Nutrition, Climate Action Literacy as Innovative Services in Public Libraries.

20 public librarians selected and undergoing online INELI South Asia curriculum from 8 South Asian Countries
13 modules developed on innovative leadership skills for the INELI online course curriculum specifically for public librarians,

50 public libraries selected and 42 libraries transformed as lifelong knowledge learning centres in partnership with the local

50 public librarians capacitated through interactive blended learning.
15 peer learning convenings organised (4 national, 4 international convenings and 7 interactive blended
learnings on relevance of community development in public libraries)
Target group expanded to children, adults, youth, women, farmers, jail inmates, physically challenged,
juveniles, senior citizens.
284 innovative awareness and knowledge-based services rendered in 2 years
Innovative knowledge services through public libraries reached 126,862 communities
Developed and piloted public library app –connecting communities tested across 25 Tamil Nadu public
libraries
7 policy recommendations conceived and presented in the 1st Regional Public Library Conference of south India
