SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE
Thirty years of experience developing both hardware and primarily chip level software in scientific
research and engineering applications for DOD contracts, manufacturing, and test environments.
Numerous systems deployed with a broad range of software development efforts involving
firmware for custom chip level circuitry, to custom intelligent black box interfacing solutions, up
through application software packages for complete turnkey real-time systems. Proficient in
analyzing systems engineering hardware and software tradeoff issues through all stages of
project planning, software development (program level management), hardware integration,
verification, and support. Experience establishing CMMI Level 3 processes and producing
embedded software while demonstrating compliance with DO-178B FAA standards for definition,
design, development, verification, and validation testing.

EXPERIENCE RECORD
DRS-TCS (formerly Metric Systems Corp ) Fort Walton Beach, Florida
Senior Software/Project Engineer, Consultant 3/95 – present
Embraer KC390 transport cargo handling system. Implemented one of two redundant lock control
software systems written in MSRA-C using the TI DSP2812 processor with Code Composer Studio
and LDRA embedded test and verification tools.
Sentry/Neptune unmanned aerial vehicle autopilot software. Developed a new pitch trim PID loop
improving flight control stability and performed numerous upgrades of onboard flight control,
communications, and payload systems on a legacy PC-DOS platform using C/C++.
Automated test suite for the motor control panel of the MK41 VLS shipboard vertical launching
system. Developed the embedded data acquisition and control software using the TI Davinci DVP
with integrated ARM926 (Green Hills Integrity OS) and TMS320C64x+ DSP (DSPBIOS/Code
Composer Studio) core processors as the test set’s low level platform.
2. ARDS GPS Range Applications Program (RAJPO GPS). System is used for test and training of
military assets by merging inertial TSPI with ACMI data from multiple range aircraft, modulating all
participant data over a tethered RF network segment in real-time; while collecting the aggregate
data with DEC-Alpha/PC based ground station controllers and range servers using a distributed
network of custom ground based RF modems. Performed multiple hardware and software upgrade
cycles along with platform upgrades to all legacy ground station components during the 20 year
deployment of this active system. Also provided new subsystem components implemented with
RS422/SDLC protocol using Intel x86/Zilog-Z16C30 USC based custom embedded software for
interfacing with the host range specific network infrastructure.
Baron Services Inc. Huntsville, Alabama
Embedded Software Consultant 9/08 – 9/10
Nexrad WSR-88D dual polarization weather radar upgrade. Developed the embedded software
for the antenna mounted electronic microcontroller board contained within the control/receiver
unit. Implementation is the Rabbit 3400 processor using DynamicC and assembly.
