3. Electro – Static Discharge (ESD) Tools
Static electricity is easily generated by friction on
carpets, tile flooring, clothing, hair, fabric, and etc. The
friction of moving air alone will charge suspended
particles and cause the buildup of static electrical
charges on people and objects in the environment.
Static electricity can damage computer sensitive parts.
To avoid that from happening we will use ESD Tools to
discharge electro - static electricity before
opening/fixing the computer.

4. Electro – Static Discharge (ESD) Tools
• Anti – static wrist strap
• Anti – static mat or ground mat

5. 1. Anti – static wrist strap
is use as safety gear to keep the user grounded and keep him from
harm and computer components from being damage caused by
buildup of static electricity or ESD.

6. 2. Anti – Static mat or ground mat
Is used by laying mat on the working table and clipping the cord to the
computer case. This way the mat will to absorb static electricity, which
can cause damage to computer components.

7. B. Hand Tools
A hand tool is a device for performing
work on a material or a physical system
using only hands. The hand tools can be
manually used employing force, or
electrically powered, using electrical
current.

8. 1. Needle nose Pliers, also called long nose
pliers
are used for gripping, bending, re – positioning and stripping insulated
wire.

9. 2. Wire cutter
Is use to cut and strip insulated wires.

10. 3. Flat head screwdriver
Used to loosen or tighten slotted screws.

11. 4.Phillips head screwdriver
Used to loosen or tighten crosshead screws.

12. 5. Torx screwdriver
Used to loosen or tighten screws that have a star – like depression on
the top, a feature that is mainly found on laptop.

13. 6. Hex driver or nut driver
Is used to tighten nuts in the same way that screwdriver tightens
screws.

14. 7.Tweezers
Used to manipulate small parts.

15. 8. Part Retriever
Use to retrieve small parts from location that are to small for your hand
to fit.

16. 9. Flashlight
Use to light up areas that you cannot see well.

17. C. Cleaning Tools
Having the appropriate cleaning tools is
essential when maintaining or repairing
computers.
Using these tools ensures that computer
components are not damaged during
cleaning.

used to clean different computer components without scratching or
leaving debris.

19. 2. Compressed air
used to blow away dust and debris from different computer parts
without touching the components.

20. 3. Cable ties
used to bundle cables neatly inside and outside of a computer.

used to hold screw, jumpers, fasteners and other small parts and
prevents them from getting mixed together.

Computers are easier to use and

doesn't mean they're problem-free.
