HABITS AND ROUTINES. a) PRESENT. To talk about a routine or a habit in the present we use simple present and a frequency adverb. Affirmative: Subject Adverb Verb Complements She   usually   reads   books in the evening . Negative: Subject Don’t Doesn’t Adverb Verb Complements He   doesn’t   usually   eat   in fast food restaurants . Interrogative: (Wh) Do Does Subject Adverb Verb Complements Where   do  you   usually   go   on Saturday night?
HABITS AND ROUTINES. a) PAST. To talk about a routine or a habit in the past that it does no longer take place in the present we use the forms  USED TO + INF  and  WOULD + INF She  used to go  to the theatre once a month. Did  you  use to  play tennis when you were young? We  didn’t use to study  in the library. He  would have  very nice birthday parties. But not now!!!! USED TO  is used for actions, states and situations. WOULD  is only used for actions, not for states.
