3. Aipu Vertical Cuttings Dryer Working Principle

The Vertical Cuttings Dryer uses centrifugal force to dry drilled solids in oil or
synthetic base fluids. A stainless steel screen bowl traps “wet” solids and
accelerates them up 900RPM with G force to 420G.
Liquid is forced to pass through the screen bowl openings, while “dry” solids
are extracted by the angled flights attached to the cone, which rotate slightly
slower than the bowl. Tungsten carbide protects the flights from abrasive solids
and ensures long operational life. This aids in maintaining a constant gap
between the scroll and screen bowl, which is crucial for proper operation.
5. Drilling Cuttings Treatment Unit and Flow Line
Main Equipment:
1-shale shaker; 2-mud cleaner; 3-auger conveyor;
4-vertical cuttings dryer; 5-waste discharge;
6- recovery of mud; 7- Collection Tank;
8-centrifuge feeding pump or screw pump;
9-centrifuge; 10-solid discharge port;
11- Clean mud recovery mud system.
Flow Line:
Mud from rig enter into shale shaker(1), mud cleaner(2).
After treated by these two steps, the drilling cuttings enter into vertical cuttings dryer
by auger conveyor(3).
Solids enter the Vertical Cuttings Dryer (4) through the top feed inlet and are
separated inside the Dryer.
The clean solids exit the bottom of the Dryer and are discarded overboard (5) or
collected in Cuttings Boxes for offsite transport and disposal. The recovered liquid is
routed to a Liquid Collection Tank (7).
The recovered liquid is conveyed by screw pump (8)
and then processed through a decanting centrifuge (10) for final
clarification, storage, and reuse (11).

Rotor Flights

Oil Lubrication System
Individual oil lubrication system with automatic alarm for pressure limit. The main motor and
oil pump motor is interlocked with each other for avoiding the start of the main motor prior to
the start of the oil pump motor
VFD Control Panel
VFD cuttings dryer control panel is pressurized explosion proof. The air circulation through
the cooling tubes allow you to use the VFD cuttings dryer in high temperature environment.
The VFD is ABB or SIEMENS Brand, other main electric components are Schneider or
SIENMENS Brand.
