The New England Small Farm Institute (NESFI) operates a 420-acre farm under a 20-year lease from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. NESFI supports 9 farm partners on 120 acres and is accepting proposals for additional projects in its 120-acre enterprise zone. NESFI also manages 300 acres of woodland and trails for public use. NESFI was founded by Judy Gillan as a pioneer in sustainable agriculture and offers educational resources and models for mentoring, infrastructure sharing, and on-farm composting to help small farmers succeed.
