Intelligent things are physical things which go
beyond the execution of a non-fluid program-
ming model, with the aim of exploiting AI to de-
liver advanced behaviours and interact more nat-
urally with their surroundings, including people.
A digital twin is a digital representation of a real-world system. Well-designed digital
twins can improve decision making massively. These twins are linked to their real-world
counterparts, which are then used to understand the state of the system, respond to
changes, improve operations and add value.

Edge computing describes a topology in which content delivery and collection, as well as
information processing, are combined together, in close proximity to the sources of the
information.
Organisations will begin using edge design patterns in their infrastructure architectures.
This will be in particular useful for those with large IoT elements.
