This document discusses the Internet of Things (IoT) and how it enables smart home capabilities. It defines IoT as a technology that connects various devices to the internet to monitor and control things remotely. Some examples of how an IoT-enabled smart home could work are given, such as automatically adjusting an alarm if a meeting is cancelled, locking doors and windows if they are left open, and ordering groceries when supplies are low. The document also provides a high-level overview of how an IoT system functions, from sensors collecting data to cloud processing and user notifications.

2. What is IoT ?
Internet of things (IoT) is a rapidly expanding technology that is shaping
up to bring the next revolution in computing and information and
technologies. IoT system has applications across industries through their
unique flexibility and ability to be suitable in any environment.
Simply, It is an advanced automation system that includes networking,
sensing, big data and artificial intelligence technology.
By using IoT in home, one's life will be more comfortable and easy!
3. Industries
Smart Home
Smart Cities
Smart Cars
Agriculture
Defense
Area of applications of IoT
6. IoT is an emerging technology that is making our world smarter.
The idea of connected world cannot be imagined without IoT.
An IoT based Smart Home is one such example.
In IoT based Smart Home environment various things such as
lightning, home appliances, computers, security camera, alarm etc.
all are connected to internet and allowing user to monitor and
control things .
A smart home also referred to as a connected home or eHome.
7. Here, we will see some examples that how IoT helps us to
improve our life living quality and comfort.
Example (A):
If your alarm is synced to your email account, you have meeting
tomorrow in the morning sharp at 6:00 am so you will put alarm at 5:00
am to cover the timing. But in case of meeting has been cancelled and
you get email at 4:25 am but at that time you are sleeping, now your
alarm will set another timing which is late than 5:00 am so you can sleep
without any disturbance..!
How IoT makes Home to eHome
8. Example (B):
Imagine you have put sensors on
your doors and windows and you
forget to close them while going
out then all doors and windows
would be shut automatically and
you would receive a message on
your phone that the house has
been locked.
9. Example (C):
Your fridge can identify
that you have run out of
milk or any other thing that
you put in, It contacts the
super market and orders the
quantity you usually need,
and also informs you by
sending a message on your
phone.
10. Example (D):
When you are tired and coming back to home your A.C, lights, slow
music will start, fragnance will start spreading and your TV will be
automatically tuned to your favorite channel so that your house is
ready to welcome you…!
12. 1. First, we have sensors, These can be placed anywhere (car, AC ,fridge,
doors, camera). Sensors collect data and send to some processing
device.
2. Next level in IoT is local processing so we have device that processes
some data received from sensors and take some decision also.
3. Then we have local storage. ( Stores sensors data)
4. Next we have to set up network, so we can interconnect the things.
5. Then we have to send the data to cloud storage to store the data.
6. Next we need to process the data in the cloud to get some good result
and provide notifications to the user on his/her phone.
