An interview with Interschool
Lulu Wal Marjan participants
Al Lulu wal Marjan is an annual Arabic inter
school competition held every year at NMS
with various categories. This year, it was
held on 10th May and ended with
spectacular results. NMS bagged first
place for both the singing competition as
well as the presentations. There were
many students from multiple schools
competing, and out of these, the Our Own
High School won the overall trophy. We
also interviewed participating students
from Our Own School (Aasim), Credence
High School (Ahmed), GEMS Wellington
School, etc. We interviewed Aasim, a
student from Our Own School who was
quite excited to participate. He was a
first-timer in the competition and was
selected due to his high proficiency in the
Arabic language. To conclude, it was a truly
wonderful experience for every
participating school, and we can’t wait for
next year’s competition.

Poem 1
Math is my friend and constant
companion,
In my equations I am elation.
It comforts me with its certain ways.
I never fear it's challenging days.
With numbers and diagrams I make a
drawing,
A curious arithmetical knowing.
Its puzzles and theories allow me to
explore,
To uncover the answers I seek and yearn
for.
The concepts I ponder astound my mind,
An answer I'll find in no time.
From algebra to trigonometry,
My teacher's perfection I try and see.
Math is a guide throughout our lives,
Enlivening moments and causing drive.
Think it through and you'll see the light,
Why math is interesting - absolutely right!

Poem 2
Math is a mystery to so many minds,
Yet somehow it helps to keep our lives in line.
Though some may find it difficult and hard,
Others know math plays an important part.
It starts in childhood like the ABC's,
Teaching us that two plus two makes four.
Then soon enough we find out more,
How math can open many more doors.
The language of the universe is math,
It helps to run the world around us.
In every job, math is revealed,
There's really no avoiding the wheel.
So many things are made with math in mind,
From our phones and microwaves, they all align.
From building complicated structures strong,
To writing words in a song.
From tracking the stars up in the sky,
To creating artwork that's beautiful and high.
Math makes our lives full of many delights,
It's proven again and again that it helps us get it
right.
Math can help give us a greater understanding of the
world,
To be as efficient and successful as possible unfurled.
No matter what you do, math is involved,
Which is why it's so important in our
16. NMS fosters innovation and an
aspiration towards sustainability in
it’s students. This month, NMS
hosted Ducibus 2023, a stimulating
event that aimed to foster the
creativity and innovation of the
student council members. The
event spanned two hours of
engaging activities and challenges
that involved the participation of
the student council
representatives from all grades.
Ducibus 2023 was a successful and
enriching experience for the
students who attended it.
A Student Forum
Innovation at NMS:
Besides achieving the primary goals of the program, it also presented
the students who took part in Ducibus with a wide-ranging and
thorough insight on the different facets of innovation and endowed
them with a remarkable amount of experiential and conceptual
knowledge that would enhance their skills and competencies in their
future pursuits.
18. Testimonials
I have been in NMS for 3 years. I joined
the school during the lockdown, so my
life wasn’t that easy. My family was
separated due to the closing of
international borders. Initially, it was
difficult to settle down and get
adjusted to the ‘new normal’. With time
and great support from my teachers
and friends, I felt a sense of
belongingness. Being a part of the NMS
community has been a fun journey. I
got many opportunities to showcase
my talents like: The Talent Show,
Quizzards, Lingua Espléndida, and
much more. I even got a chance to
participate in an Inter-school
competition at Credence School 3 years
ago. This year, I will be participating in
World Scholar’s Cup. This school has
provided me with numerous
opportunities to interact with new
people and make new friends.

GEMS NMS is one of the good CBSE schools in Dubai
and has been getting Very Good rating from KHDA. It
provides an excellent platform for overall
development of students. PACT (after school

in honing their co-curricular skills. Teachers are very
helpful and explain the concepts clearly in school.
