This study was undertaken to present the functions of gender for promotion and describe the forms of gender discrimination in the workplace. The researchers present knowledge about the Gender discrimination in the workplace and the study is deemed significant for it benefit the following sectors and groups of person; This study is therefore useful socially, economically and academically. Socially it enables employees to co-exist peacefully without discriminating against others due to their ethnic background, gender or race. The researchers used descriptive method, method of research which is a fact-finding study with adequate and accurate interpretation of data. It describes with emphasis what actually exist such as the current condition of the phenomenon. The respondents of the study were the employees and employers of selected business establishments in Cabanatuan city. First, the researchers presented the profile of the respondents as to age; sex; highest educational attainment; length of service and period of promotion granted .Next is the functions of sex in promotion and the forms of discrimination in the workplace. For the summary of findings and conclusions, majority of the respondents are not new in their work, female dominated the study, respondents were promoted after their provisionary period. Female are more supportive and approachable while male are more cooperative in the study. The respondents are continue seeking knowledge to be promoted or to have a higher position. Respondents are not new in service or in their job. Respondents are promoted after their provisionary period. Male easy recognize the scenario and straight forward in decision making. Men prefer a hierarchical leadership structure because it allows for easier role clarity and delegation of authority. Employers and employees are both believe in the patriarchal leadership that male are superior but women communicate properly in the workplace because they are more perfectionist and meticulous .Male are direct to the point in controlling the organization ,they do not use any further words to give their thought unlike women. And it is not usual for male to have corrective actions in every undertakings. Women are more efficient and almost perfectionist in all actions to be done .Women are less competent than men and lacking in leadership potential, because of these perceptions, women encounter greater challenges to or skepticism of their ideas and abilities at work. Men and women are correctly predicting the differential experiences that they would encounter with professional advancement and are making sound decisions. It is also possible that women are overestimating the negative consequences associated with power, that men are underestimating them, or both.

(2016) conducted a study to determine if there was an answer to the contradicting study results regarding the brain activity in schizophrenics and their siblings. Earlier research has given mixed results stating that schizophrenics have excessive brain activity and others show that they have incoherent activity. The same mixed results showed up in research on siblings of schizophrenics. This study used amplitudes of low-frequency fluctuations (ALFF) as well as regional homogeneity (Reho). The used the ALFF and Reho to track the intensity as well as any synchronization of local spontaneous neuronal activity among three groups of participants (Chang et al., 2016). Repovs and Barch (2012) conducted a study using a similar research design but instead they were looking for how functional connectivity may differ in schizophrenics when there is no cognitive task involved, a light cognitive task, and then a more demanding cognitive task. The study used participants who were diagnosed with schizophrenia and their siblings, and health individuals and their siblings. These four different groups helped to determine if there was any difference between a sibling of an individual with schizophrenia compared to siblings that were not impaired. The study focused on the working memory of the individuals. fMRI scans were used as well as other basic imaging and recall memory assessment activities (Repovs & Barch, 2012). The study conducted by Chang et al. (2016) was using reliable testing techniques in regards to the neuronal activity that was tracked. The sample size was not very large but did have the randomized factor by comparing the results to not one but two variables (siblings and non-related healthy individuals). Had the sample size been larger the results could likely be more generalizable. The participants were gathered using participants from a other studies the researchers had done. There were 27 participants who were diagnosed with schizophrenia, 27 non effected siblings, and 27 healthy unrelated participants. The research design was used to map the activity in the brain of all three groups in different circumstances so they could compare the results to find any commonalities or clear differences. This method of research helped to determine if there was any validity to the claims of either excessive brain activity or incoherent activity in schizophrenics and their siblings. Colleague 1: Shannon Qualitative Research Questions The purposes of quantitative and qualitative research are dissimilar. Lietz and Zayas (2010) stated “qualitative inquiry developed through a rich history of research seeking contextualized, in-depth descriptions that offer increased understanding” (p 189).Questions that inform qualitative research explore more in depth to what has been developed through time. When starting off with a qualitative research question it’s always good to use “What” or “ How” ( Developing Your Research Questions, 2016). On a quantitative perspective according to Lietz and Zayas (2010) “quantitative research often seeks through measurement to test hypotheses, to determine outcomes and to draw generalizable conclusions to a defined population’ (p 190). As a social work student I think it is very salient for me to understand the two perspectives so when I am conducting research I am able to explore either one or the other. Research questions that lead to a qualitative approach usually can answer yes or no. In preparing these types of questions you can use the formats of surveys or interviews. In my week 4 proposal I chose a qualitative method and my research question stated “How does society negatively impact the progression of LGBTQ relationships?” I chose this question because I found it to be very intriguing to find out how different results can factor from this one impact. I chose a qualitative approach because I have previously read so many articles that focused on this topic and in knowing the research I previously discovered I knew there would be some research on this proposal. In collecting data I would certainly research literature reviews, interview LQGTQ couples, and conduct anonymous surveys. 5 Relationship Between Depression (from heartbreak) and Reaction Time Jenna Lantrip September 18th, 2022 Relationship Between Depression (from heartbreak) and Reaction Time There are many reasons that can cause depression and a cognitive developmental delay, but this review is going to be looking at depression that comes from a relational breakup (heartbreak) and how this effects their reaction time. When an individual undergoes emotional distress that was caused by heartbreak it can lead the individual to negative effects such as, having an increased risk of physical illness and stress-related diseases (Izzati&Takwin, 2018). Young-adults, according to Erikon’s theory are going thought the developmental stage of intimacy versus isolation (Izzati&Tawkin, 2018; Erikson 1968). This proves that young adults are either developing intimate relationships with other individuals or they are being isolated from society. Naturally when an individual is actively pursuing an intimate relationship with another individual and this fails, heartbreak is expected. One should never underestimate the effects that a heartbreak can cause to an individual. Heartbreak can result into emotional distress and even in grief responses (Izzati&Takwin, 2018; Kaczmarek et al., 1990 in Lepore &Greenber, 2002). There can be different levels of heartbreak, an extreme level can cause emotional distress from a heartbreak that can lead a person to horrid scenes, such as psychopathology or even death (Izzati&Takwin, 2018; Field, 2011). The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between depression from heartbreak and the effects of cognitive development, more specifically, reaction time in individuals who range from 14-24 years of age. The participants were assessed by using the Beck Depression Inventory Scale (Streiner, 2002), the Everyday Cognitive Instrument (Farias et al., 2008), and a sex assigned at birth questionnaire. Results from this study could be beneficial to mental health professionals and individuals of these ages in understanding why they have a slower or faster reaction time than others. Rehabilitation Counseling Bulletin, 51(2), 76-84 The Newly Revised Strong Interest Inventory: A Profile Interpretation for Rehabilitation Counselors This peer reviewed scholarly journal article seeks to examine the interest patterns that are predictive of success and satisfaction as a rehabilitation counselor using the Strong Interests Inventory. The strength of the SII lies in the variety of which is useful in counseling and provide information that is usually not found with other interest inventories. Interpreting the SII profile begins by looking at the individual's GOT scores. The data and ideas from this interpretation can be used to improve the selection and recruitment of rehabilitation counselors. These findings can help career counselors predict which students and workers will be interested in a particular field. Abstract from the author: Using aggregate scores from 281 female and 133 male rehabilitation counselors, the researchers developed prototypical "Strong Interest Inventory" (SII) profiles. They used these profiles to explore the interests, preferences, and professional identity of rehabilitation counselors. Using the General Occupational Themes (GOTs), Basic Interest Scales (BISs), Occupational Scales (OSs), and Personal Style Scales (PSSs), which make up the newly revised SII, the authors obtained empirically defined prototypical profiles for female and male rehabilitation counselors. The Social-Artistic Holland-code dyad was a reoccurring theme across the each profile. Although there are differences in each of the SII scales across genders, the authors found congruence not only within the scales of a particular gender but also across genders. Synthetic biology uses the concept of “bioengineering” to improve or modify existing genetic systems to create microbes with desired behaviors, and Syngulon uses this approach to develop its selection technologies. This selection technology is based on bacteriocins, ribosomally-produced peptides naturally made by most bacteria to kill competitive microbial species. These bacteriocins can have a limited or wide target range against other microbial species. This technology offers advantageous over antibiotic selection for several reasons: it avoids the use of antibiotics in the first place, helping to reduce the spread of antibiotic resistant microbes. The technology also increases product yield; as bacteriocins are generally smaller peptides, they do not impose a heavy metabolic burden on the producing cell. They can have a wide target specificity, helping to avoid genetic drift. Finally, our system is 100% plasmid-based (e.g. without chromosomal mutations), making it applicable for use in any E. coli strains.
