Language Arts <ul><li>Many resources: ( Reading Street , literature circles, novels, Time for Kids , and non-fiction &/or historical fiction integrated with current IB unit of inquiry). </li></ul><ul><li>At home reading - minimum 20-30 minutes daily </li></ul><ul><li>Writing: Six Trait and Step Up to Writing program to include: expository and narrative writing, multi-paragraph essays, journals, letters, poetry, and note taking to accompany current IB unit of inquiry </li></ul>

Mathematics <ul><li>Everyday Math: Family letter sent home at the beginning of each unit </li></ul><ul><li>12 Units, each with a practice test, and then unit test at the end </li></ul><ul><li>Math quizzes are given periodically throughout each unit </li></ul><ul><li>Nightly homework, called the Studylink, will match the lesson taught at school that day; sometimes a math journal page also </li></ul><ul><li>Hands-on-Equations is the algebra program used by the school </li></ul><ul><li>Math Facts: instant recall of multiplication/division facts to 12x12 is expected, 5-10 mins practice each evening </li></ul><ul><li>http://everydaymath.uchicago.edu/parents/index.shtml </li></ul><ul><li>TAG students will receive their math in the TAG room, so curriculum specifics should be discussed with the TAG teacher, Ms Stegman. </li></ul>
  6. 6. IBPYP Curriculum: <ul><li>Profile and Attitudes: please reinforce at home </li></ul><ul><li>IB units of inquiry: Earth Movements, Government, Writing, Regions, Immigration and Environments </li></ul>
  7. 7. Homework: <ul><li>Written on board daily; students are to copy in their planner </li></ul><ul><li>No more than 50 minutes nightly </li></ul><ul><li>Daily reading 20-30 minutes </li></ul><ul><li>Math: usually one page of studylink and/or mathbox </li></ul>
