EDUCATION FOR PEACE
Peace education is the process of acquiring values, knowledge, attitudes, skills,
and behaviors to live in harmony with oneself, others, and the natural environment.

Definition and meaning
 Ian Harris and John Synott have described peace education as a
series of "teaching encounters" that draw from people:[8]
 their desire for peace,
 nonviolent alternatives for managing conflict, and
 skills for critical analysis of structural arrangements that produce and
legitimize injustice and inequality.

 Peace education is an attempt to respond to the problem
of conflict and violence on scales ranging from global and
national to local and personal. It is about ways of creating
more just and sustainable futures – R.D. Laing.
 Spinoza : “Peace is not the absence of war.
Peace is a virtue, an attitude, tendency to good,
trust and justice”

through equitable dialogue.

for the past, present and future, and includes the
personal, local and global levels
 4. Promoting values such as compassion,
equality, interdependence, diversity, sustainability
and nonviolence
