Constructivism
Constructivism says that people
construct their own understanding
and knowledge of the world through
experiencing things and reflecting
on those experiences.
Constructivism
based on the belief that learning occurs
as learners are actively involved in a
process of meaning and knowledge
construction rather than passively
receiving information
Social Constructivism – this view emphasizes that
knowledge exists in a social context and is initially
shared with others instead of being represented
solely in the mind of an individual
Individual Constructivism – this is called cognitive
constructivism. It emphasizes individual, internal
construction of knowledge.

Constructivist Approach Teaches Learners

  • 3. Constructivism Constructivism says that people construct their own understanding and knowledge of the world through experiencing things and reflecting on those experiences.

Social Constructivism – this view emphasizes that knowledge exists in a social context and is initially shared with others instead of being represented solely in the mind of an individual Individual Constructivism – this is called cognitive constructivism. Process is as important as product Knowledge is dynamic / changes with experiences Students work in groups
