Outsmart your Brain – The Science of Leading Change in the Public Sector
Leading change in the Public Sector is demanding and increasingly complex. Overcoming your brain’s limitations and managing cognitive bias
has never been more important, especially as a female leader. Successfully implementing change and developing resilience in the face of adversity
becomes possible when you discover how to improve decision making and keep calm under pressure. Understanding how your brain functions and
reacts in stressful or unexpected situations is fundamental when developing strategies to overcome obstacles.
Many think that time is the greatest resource you possess, when it is infact your mind and how you place your attention that brings greater focus
and success. Utilising a knowledge of neuroscience and brain function, leaders develop greater influence over others, especially when driving
performance and collaboration.
This interactive workshop aims to increase neuroplasticity and develop an authentic, flexible leadership approach to succeed as a leader in
a transformational Public Sector. Through understanding the fundamentals of neuroscience in leadership, attendees unlock their potential in
overcoming cognitive bias, driving performance and making important decisions under pressure. Discover:

Redefining workplace culture by addressing
bias
Navigating unconscious bias is nothing new for women,
especially in senior positions in the public sector, which
in many areas is still male-dominated. Recognising and
altering unconscious perceptions is key to change, but
developing resilience and understanding your power
in redefining organisational culture is crucial. Initiating
critical, albeit uncomfortable, conversations that address
gender biases, is an essential skill when negotiating bias
to progress in your career. With over 35 years in coaching
and organisational development, she will explore:
• Addressing and navigating unconscious bias
• Structuring difficult conversations

With tightened budgets, implementation of strategic
reforms and effectively leading your team through change,
leaders face much pressure in the public sector. Joe

shift in the way the TAC operates, changing structures,
processes and focuses that have, in some cases, been in
place for decades. Reflecting on his experience in leading
the TAC through this and the lessons he can share with
others seeking to drive change in the public sector, Joe
will discuss:
• Leading and engaging your team successfully
• Identifying key issues and avoiding pitfalls
• Building resilience and effecting positive change
