3. Making Suggestions
A. A common way to make a suggestion is by using let’s. Let’s is
the contraction of let + us. The sentence structure is the
following:
Let’s + verb (base form) + complement

• Let’s prepare dinner.
• Let’s go out for a walk.
• Let’s order a pizza for dinner.
• Let’s finish this homework now.
• Let’s leave early.
• Let’s invite them to the party.

Examples:
• What about going to the movies?

Why don’t we / you + verb in base form + complement
Examples:
• Why don't you finish your homework now?
• Why don’t we go to the movies?

C. Accepting a suggestion:
• Sure, let’s. (For let’s.)
• Yes, let's. (For let’s.)
• What a good/great idea!
• Why not?
• Sure. Why not?
• That sounds like a good/great idea.

D. Not accepting a suggestion:
• No, let's not. (For let’s.)
• No, I'd rather* not.
• Thanks, but I don’t like … pizza/tacos, etc.
• Thanks, but I don't feel like … going out, etc. (verb with –ing)
Note: We should always be polite when we do not accept a suggestion.
* Rather: prefer

2) Demonstrative Pronouns: this, that, those, these
Demonstrative pronouns can work like an adjective, so they are
always followed by a noun. The use of each of these pronouns
depends on the noun: if it is singular or plural or if it is close or far
from the speaker.
