WHAT IS CALLED HIGH RISE
BUILDING?
There is no proper definition to this but, High-rise
building, also called high-rise, multistory building tall
enough to require the use of a system of mechanical
vertical transportation such as elevators.
HOW MANY STORIES IS A HIGH RISE
BUILDING?
“High-rise buildings” definition, though, can vary according
to different references. it's a general term for multi-
story structures taller than 35 meters. It's usually a
development with more than 9 stories, which in the skyline
of a dense city can seem to be a fairly small structure.
THERE ARE THREE PARTS OF “HIGH RISE” BUILDING
• HEADER
• BODY
• BASE
STRUCTURAL SYSTEM
To build a high rise building we can use three types of
method or structural system.
These are:
• POST SLAB STRUCTURAL SYSTEM
• POST LINTEL STRUCTURE
• STEEL STRUCTURE ETC
However, nowadays steel structure is most commonly
used in a high rise building.

CORE
A core is a vertical space used for circulation and
services. It may also be referred to as a circulation core or
service core. A core allows people to move between the
floors of a building, and distributes services efficiently to
the floors.
Contents of CORE
• Elevators
• Ducts
• Toilets
• Elevator lobby
• Stairs – Main stair
• Air handling room

VERTICAL CIRCULATION
SYSTEM
ELEVATOR
Elevator, also called lift, car
that moves in a vertical shaft
to carry passengers or freight
between the levels of a
multistory building.
ESCALATOR
An escalator is a moving staircase
which carries people between floors of
a building. It consists of a motor-driven
chain of individually linked steps on a
track which cycle on a pair of tracks
which keep them horizontal.
TYPES OF ARRNGEMENT:
• PARRALLAL
• CRISSCROS PARRALLAL CRISSCROS
BNBC RULES FOR HIGH RISE
SETBACK
When building height is above 33 m or 10 story, the least
set back for any quantity of land is:
1.5 m at front
3.0 m at back
3.0 m at both other side
• Without this setback, podium can be built at the highest
level of 12 m [with parapet] from the road level.
• 50% of the mandatory open space of a plot can be hard
surface which can be used as surface parking, security
room and for other purpose.

CONTENTS OF CORE
• Pressurized staircase

The idea behind the stair
pressurization is that during a fire the
stairway should have more pressure
than the rest of the building. That way,
when the doors open, the higher
pressure in the stairwell pushes the
smoke back onto the floor, keeping
the escape route clear of smoke.
HVAC systems are milestones of building mechanical
systems that provide thermal comfort for occupants
accompanied with indoor air quality. ... Central HVAC
systems contain all-air, air-water, all-water systems. Two
systems should be considered as central such as heating
and cooling panels and water-source heat pumps.

PROJECT NAME: 30 Hudson Yards
CATEGORY: Office buildings, commercial building
LOCATION: New York, United States
ARCHITECTS: KPF
AREA:1242103 m²
YEAR: 2019
SYNOPSIS
30 Hudson Yards is located at the southwest corner of 33rd Street
and 10th Avenue, completed in 2019. The 2.6-million-square-foot
tower designed by Bill Pedersen of Kohn Pedersen Fox
Associates (KPF) will be the second-tallest office building in New
York, taller than the
Empire State Building and home to the highest outdoor
observation
deck in the city. The LEED Gold-designed building will stand 1,296
feet tall and feature river-to-river panoramic views, outdoor
terraces, a dramatic triple-height lobby, direct access to premier
restaurants and retailers and an underground connection to the
No. 7 Subway station.

The architectural intents for the structures informed how the glass make-ups were
prescribed. Maximum transparency was the aim for all elements, and so Low-
Iron glass was specified. SGP was chosen as the interlayer material for reasons
including:
• Lack of reactivity to UV light and water
• Lowered risk of delamination
• High level of shear transfer between glass layers, allowing for thinner makeups
• Post-breakage retention
It was decided at an early stage that an antireflective coating would be applied
to the Windscreen. For best performance, both exterior faces of the laminate were
to be coated.
Considering that the terrace glass floor would be exposed to rain, the surface
needed to be slip resistant to protect the safety of users. US codes are not
prescriptive in this area, with many different possible tests and standards, most
leading to the conclusion that the owner must choose in the final configuration.
Different anti-slip products were reviewed, such as laser etched, acid etched and
fritted. These were rated on factors such as durability, transparency and level of
slip resistance. A fritted surface was eventually chosen.
Samples were reviewed based on certain characteristics:
• Transparency of glass
• Edge work
• Quality of coatings

  • 15. The idea behind the stair pressurization is that during a fire the stairway should have more pressure than the rest of the building. That way, when the doors open, the higher pressure in the stairwell pushes the smoke back onto the floor, keeping the escape route clear of smoke. HVAC systems are milestones of building mechanical systems that provide thermal comfort for occupants accompanied with indoor air quality. ... Central HVAC systems contain all-air, air-water, all-water systems. Two systems should be considered as central such as heating and cooling panels and water-source heat pumps. • 29. The architectural intents for the structures informed how the glass make-ups were prescribed. Maximum transparency was the aim for all elements, and so Low- Iron glass was specified. SGP was chosen as the interlayer material for reasons including: • Lack of reactivity to UV light and water • Lowered risk of delamination • High level of shear transfer between glass layers, allowing for thinner makeups • Post-breakage retention It was decided at an early stage that an antireflective coating would be applied to the Windscreen. For best performance, both exterior faces of the laminate were to be coated. Considering that the terrace glass floor would be exposed to rain, the surface needed to be slip resistant to protect the safety of users. US codes are not prescriptive in this area, with many different possible tests and standards, most leading to the conclusion that the owner must choose in the final configuration. Different anti-slip products were reviewed, such as laser etched, acid etched and fritted. These were rated on factors such as durability, transparency and level of slip resistance. A fritted surface was eventually chosen. Samples were reviewed based on certain characteristics: • Transparency of glass • Edge work • Quality of coatings FENESTRATION ANALYSIS
