Notas do Editor
Notes need to be refreshed.
On this slide, we are showing the roadmap that we have specifically defined for the video market. You will see three vectors here:
Portable Video such as PDAs, portable devices and digital still cameras have been addressed through our OMAP and C55x processors and now beginning to leverage DM64x.
Client video refers to single channel video up to D1 or HD resolution encode and/or decode. The products from TI will enable leading-edge features for video applications including IP Set-Top Boxes, Networked PVRs, IP Video Telephony, and IP Video Surveillance.
And finally, the video infrastructure vector which includes applications such as video conferencing gateways or cable head-end video systems. With C64x running at 720MHz and 1GHz, TI is clearly the performance leader in this area and we are extending that position with C645x.
TI will continue to win in the video space, so you will see with the green “future” bubbles that we will continue to drive to higher performances and more peripheral integration to meet the needs of this market.
Let’s look at just how DaVinci technology helps our customers achieve new horizons, and why DaVinci is completely different than any other solution in the video market.
DaVinci is one single, simple offering that becomes the foundation for all things video. It consists of tightly integrated, completely optimized processors, software and tools -- all supported by a vast and highly-specialized partner network.
As consumer products grow more complex, the complexity of the underlying silicon and software grows exponentially. DaVinci is TI’s solution to make it easier for manufacturers to add value and start making money on their ideas.
And DaVinci represents the first time in the industry that a single offering has been so broadly accessible to such a large group of digital video innovators. Its reach is so broad that virtually any innovator will find the hardware, software and support they need. We’re talking about any digital video application, any time, any where and any format.
Because each portion of DaVinci works together seamlessly, what has been impossible, before, becomes entirely practical, now. That means more products in the market, reaching end users more quickly, with more features and more functionality.
It’s the phenomenon that we call the DaVinci Effect.
In less than a yr we’ve brought out 6 new devices, vertical, targeted (DSC).

About Awox
Awox is the European leader in the development of middleware technologies for aggregation of digital content on home networks. Aggregation of content enables users to share their music or movies stored on their computer or set top boxes in digital format (MP3, DIVX…) with their audiovisual devices anywhere within the home. Various members of the family can share the same multimedia file simultaneously, in different places, and totally independently. AWOX patented modular software platform supports a wide range of integrated multimedia products. The company's core business is developing software and electronic products for license to OEMs, operators and consumer electronics manufacturers, based on UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) and DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standards. AwoX's modular architecture helps manufacturers to rapidly add network functionality by adapting AwoX's hardware reference design, customizing AwoX's internationalized user interface, and developing new plug-ins. Awox also uses its own technologies to develop innovative electronic products for the consumer market.
Awox has built a roadmap of products within a long-term collaborative framework such as UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) middleware and plug-in applications that take full advantage of TI’s TMS320DM644x processors based on DaVinci technology and TI’s ultra low power TNETD1350A WiFi module, which addresses the requirements of the home networking market. This cooperative strategy between TI and Awox ensures manufacturers have access to turn-key solutions and get to market quickly with innovative digital media solutions.
We’ve brought out an array of software…
The right video, imaging, speech and audio codecs for your digital video applications. Created by TI – by the silicon people that understand the capabilities of their processors best.
Operating Systems. MontaVista Linux, Green Hills Integrity and velOSity, QNX Neutrino, uItron – all the operating systems you need to take advantage of the multimedia capabilities of DaVinci. And not only do we provide the operating systems – but we also provide an API programming model so that OS programmers can abstract DSP programming. Enjoy the multimedia power of the DSP without knowing the nitty gritty details.
Application software. All of the software on DaVinci processors are object code compatible with TI’s C6000 family – making it easy to port and upgrade legacy application software such as Object Video’s OnBoard Video Surveillance analytics software.
So overall what we have seen is a very strong and robust output..
Processers have been delivered
Software has been delivered
Tools have been delivered
Support is in place by our strong 3rd party network to get everything going.
And thus – customer adoption has been great! We’re online to be able to deliver consumer products for Christmas 2006
…the right Development tools and reference designs
For Programming needs: Code Composer Studio – best DSP tool in the market place. Green Hills Multi – great OS-aware dual core debug tool w/ time machine capabilities to make programming easy.
DVEVM: Complete out of box experience. Boot up your board in linux, run our demo codecs and experience the DaVinci effect.
Reference Designs: Ittiam Video phones, Wintech video phones, E InfoChips Video surveillance design
We will continue to add the correct tools and reference designs to win all digital video markets.
Call to action:
People will still need a target platform as well, so they can start with our DVEVM or one of our third party offerings.
To get started today, we are offering two different iterations of the software development kit. For Linux developers and existing DSP customers we have a version that does not include CCS or an emulator for $6995, and for new customers who want to get under the hood there is the complete offering for $10995.
Order entry is open today.

Question from sales:
With many new 8/16/32 bit embedded product introductions in 2005, there have been missed schedules, delays, and products with serious errata. Also issues with test and manufacturing.
The development environment for these products has also suffered. The customer "Out-of-the-Box Experience" has not been smooth, leading us to "field test" the development boards before delivering to our customers, in order to avoid embarrassing situations.
What are we (Freescale) doing in 2006 to have a smoother NPI process and products that our customers can count on being released on time, with limited errata?
InterNiche's " ColdFire TCP/IP stack” by InterNiche is a variant of its NicheLite product, a fully featured TCP/IP stack requiring as little as 12 KB of memory. Conceived as a highly portable and RFC compliant implementation of the TCP/IP protocol suite, the product includes ANSI C sources for a comprehensive subset of the TCP/IP family of protocols, a "Mini" Sockets API, and a highly effective system optimization and tuning tool.
The ColdFire TCP/IP stack IP layer can support one hardware interface and is fully instrumented for MIB-II access by SNMP agents. MIB-II tables include: Interfaces, IP, ICMP, TCP and UDP.
ColdFire TCP/IP stack’s portable TCP layer is fast, small, and optimized for embedded systems. Packet data, including headers, are in contiguous buffers to simplify memory management and avoid data copies. Macros to protect critical sections of code are used sparingly to improve throughput and reduce memory requirements.
The stack tunable parameters such as MSS (Maximum Segment Size) and the TCP window size can be left to the runtime logic or may be customized for your application.
ColdFire TCP/IP stack includes support for the following protocols:
Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)
Internet Protocol (IP)
Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP)
User Datagram Protocol (UDP)
Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Client
Bootstrap Protocol (BOOTP)
Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP)
Features
Includes two operating systems: SuperLoop: a very fast, do-forever loop running various tasks and applications in a run-to-completion model. Since each "task" executes in the context of the main loop there is no task-switching overhead nor inefficiencies due to poorly tuned task stacks.NicheTask: a cooperative multi-tasking scheduler. In this architecture, tasks each have their own call-stack and voluntarily relinquish control back to the master scheduler. More information on NicheTask can be found at http://www.FreeRTOS.com
TCP- Supporting InterNiche's Light-Weight API, and a Zero-Copy option. In most cases, TCP applications developed for ColdFire TCP/IP stack will operate on InterNiche's other stacks without modification of source code.
