Field Study 2 – Experiencing the Teaching-Learning Process
Observation Sheet #1
Name of Resource Teacher: Jennyvi Dela Cruz & Raymond Aboga
Grade/Level: and Grade 8-B Subject: English Date: February 01, 2017
School Address: Daet, Camarines Norte
I will observe at least to different classes and will pay attention to what the resource
teacher does to teach and what the learners do to learn.
I will identify evidences of applications of the principles of learning. Guided by questions,
I will reflect on my experience and write down my reflections.
Principles of Learning Teaching Behavior of the Teacher/Learning
Behavior of the Learner
Learning is an experience which occurs inside the
learner and is activated by the learner.
The teachers facilitate the learning. They question
students about theirpriorknowledgeonthe topic.They
also use HOTS and “what if” questions for the students
to think critically.
There are those learners who are very active in
participating, answering questions and even asking
questions for clarification. Learners actively involve
themselves in discussion to understand more their
lesson.
Learning is the discovery of the personal meaning and
relevance of ideas.
The teachers encourage students to share their ideas
and experiences. From there, they appreciate and
recognize their unique ideas to boost students’
confidence.
The students share their insights and if there are things
that areneededforclarification,theyask the helpof the
teachers. If they are given the chance to speak and
impart their thoughts, they are willing to do so.
Learning is a sequence of experience. The teachers connect the topic to their students’
experiences.Forexample,Ma’amDela Cruz,in her topic
“Sonnet 18”, asked if how do the students show their
love to the people they care and love. While Sir Aboga,
in his lesson “Figurative Language” asked his students
to give one example to each figurative language and
could take examples from their favorite songs, tongue
twisters, and poems they have encountered.
The students actively participate in discussions
especially if they can relate to the topic and their
experiences are involved in the lesson.
Learning is a cooperative and collaborative process. One way of enhancing students’ cooperation and
collaboration is team work. To ma’am Dela Cruz, she
grouped her students which will be their permanent
team for the entire quarter. Each member is
encouraged to participateto earn points for the group.
She alwaysask them questions and givepoints for their
answers. To Sir Aboga, he groups his students when
brainstorming is needed for a difficult topic. The
teachers impose collaborative learning by allowing
students by group to discuss theirideasand share them
in class.
Learners are very willing to participate because of the
points they earn. The classroom is very active because
of competition. The grouping/teaming helps students
to become responsible, participative and cooperative.
Learning is sometimes a painful process. The teachers needed to use all the teaching techniques
because some students don’t easily understand the
lessons (particularly the lower section) Instead of
moving to another topic, they needed to spare more
time and elaborate more the topic for them to
understand.
Some students can’t answer the teachers’ questions.
Some also raised questions because they needed more
examples. Based on my observations, there are some
students who do not like quizzes and exams especially
if it requires critical thinking.
One of the richest resources for the learning is the
learner himself/herself.
The teachers enhance students’ participation because
they know that all students havedifferentthoughts and
insights on a certain topic. They just needed to push
them more and convince them to go out of their
comfort zones.
There are those students who astounded their shyness
so they can easilyexpress their ideas. As I amobserving
them, I have seen their willingness and interest to learn
by themselves.
The process of learning is emotional as well as
intellectual.
As a teacher, you need a mastery of your subject. I can
see that the resource teachers really have mastered
their lessons and I can see their dedication and
perseverance to impart learnings to these diverse
individuals. Their patience is much seen in them even
though they students leave them headaches.
Students arevery happyif they getcorrectanswers. You
can see the different emotions in them while grasping
the learnings. For me, If interest is seen in a child, then
he/she is a potential genius.
The process of problem-solving and learning is highly
unique and individual.
The teachers use different strategies to capture
students’ attention. They consider learning styles of
their students and allow them to unlock meaning for
their own, solve problems and practice them in
enhancing critical thinking. They are constructivist
teachers because they don’t encourage spoonfeeding
to their students.
There are students who areintrovert but they still recite
in class. There are also students who are very eager to
participate in discussions. Learnings are truly unique
and have different learning styles.

My Analysis:
Explain the impact of the resource teacher in the observance of the principles on the
T-L process.
To become an efficient educator, you need to consider these principles in your way of teaching. It is not
easy to be an educator since you cannot just do what you what you want in teaching children. Many things need
to be considered. If one teacher wanted to have a strong foundation in his/her own teaching and impart a very
great impact to his/her students, then these principles is the answer. This can signifies how her learners react
from the way she teach and the way learners enjoy her class. For the learners, skills and abilities are not one day
growth; it is a step by step process. The learners don’t really have an idea about these principles, but looking at
them, they are indeed very active in cooperating with their teacher. An atmosphere of ease was surrounded in
the whole class, where teaching can be more fun for the students as well as ease in acquiring the knowledge
needed.
My Reflection:
I have chosen the two teachers because for a short period of time observing some teachers in Mabini
College, these two teachers left me a great impact on how I’ll be handling my students soon. In my short time
observing, they both adhering these principles well. As seen from their students, they are really well participating
andseemedto beenjoying theirclass verywell.Bothteachers werevery effectiveinimplementingtheseprinciples
as a whole since you can distinguish how they conduct classes. They can create a well-balanced classroom, an
environment full of energy, and made the students get motivated in participating inside the class. As an observer
and as a person, you can sense in a certain situation about things that seem wrong. From that observation, and
sittingin that particularclassmademefeel of goingbackfrombeinga student. A feelingof that kind atmosphere,
where you can feel the enjoyment of learning, and being drawn by the teachers’ enthusiasm and energy; that
feeling of getting those lessons inside your brain without coercing your mind to learn it, that feeling of learning
from the mistakes that indeed committed on that day and thinking of doing good the next time around. This
feeling that felt on those days with them is an experience that these typical principles were being implemented.

  • 1. Mabini Colleges Daet, Camarines Norte Field Study 2 – Experiencing the Teaching-Learning Process Observation Sheet #1 Name of Resource Teacher: Jennyvi Dela Cruz & Raymond Aboga Grade/Level: and Grade 8-B Subject: English Date: February 01, 2017 School Address: Daet, Camarines Norte I will observe at least to different classes and will pay attention to what the resource teacher does to teach and what the learners do to learn. I will identify evidences of applications of the principles of learning. Guided by questions, I will reflect on my experience and write down my reflections. Principles of Learning Teaching Behavior of the Teacher/Learning Behavior of the Learner Learning is an experience which occurs inside the learner and is activated by the learner. The teachers facilitate the learning. They question students about theirpriorknowledgeonthe topic. They also use HOTS and “what if” questions for the students to think critically. There are those learners who are very active in participating, answering questions and even asking questions for clarification. Learners actively involve themselves in discussion to understand more their lesson. Learning is the discovery of the personal meaning and relevance of ideas. The teachers encourage students to share their ideas and experiences. From there, they appreciate and recognize their unique ideas to boost students’ confidence. The students share their insights and if there are things that areneededforclarification, theyask the helpof the teachers. If they are given the chance to speak and impart their thoughts, they are willing to do so. Learning is a sequence of experience. The teachers connect the topic to their students’ experiences.Forexample,Ma’amDela Cruz,in her topic “Sonnet 18”, asked if how do the students show their love to the people they care and love. While Sir Aboga, in his lesson “Figurative Language” asked his students to give one example to each figurative language and could take examples from their favorite songs, tongue twisters, and poems they have encountered. The students actively participate in discussions especially if they can relate to the topic and their experiences are involved in the lesson. Learning is a cooperative and collaborative process. One way of enhancing students’ cooperation and collaboration is team work. To ma’am Dela Cruz, she
  • 2. grouped her students which will be their permanent team for the entire quarter. Each member is encouraged to participateto earn points for the group. She alwaysask them questions and givepoints for their answers. To Sir Aboga, he groups his students when brainstorming is needed for a difficult topic. The teachers impose collaborative learning by allowing students by group to discuss theirideasand share them in class. Learners are very willing to participate because of the points they earn. The classroom is very active because of competition. The grouping/teaming helps students to become responsible, participative and cooperative. Learning is sometimes a painful process. The teachers needed to use all the teaching techniques because some students don’t easily understand the lessons (particularly the lower section) Instead of moving to another topic, they needed to spare more time and elaborate more the topic for them to understand. Some students can’t answer the teachers’ questions. Some also raised questions because they needed more examples. Based on my observations, there are some students who do not like quizzes and exams especially if it requires critical thinking. One of the richest resources for the learning is the learner himself/herself. The teachers enhance students’ participation because they know that all students havedifferentthoughts and insights on a certain topic. They just needed to push them more and convince them to go out of their comfort zones. There are those students who astounded their shyness so they can easilyexpress their ideas. As I amobserving them, I have seen their willingness and interest to learn by themselves. The process of learning is emotional as well as intellectual. As a teacher, you need a mastery of your subject. I can see that the resource teachers really have mastered their lessons and I can see their dedication and perseverance to impart learnings to these diverse individuals. Their patience is much seen in them even though they students leave them headaches. Students arevery happyif they getcorrectanswers. You can see the different emotions in them while grasping the learnings. For me, If interest is seen in a child, then he/she is a potential genius. The process of problem-solving and learning is highly unique and individual. The teachers use different strategies to capture students’ attention. They consider learning styles of their students and allow them to unlock meaning for their own, solve problems and practice them in enhancing critical thinking. They are constructivist teachers because they don’t encourage spoonfeeding to their students.
  • 3. There are students who areintrovert but they still recite in class. There are also students who are very eager to participate in discussions. Learnings are truly unique and have different learning styles. MRS. JENNYVI DELA CRUZ Signature of Resource Teacher MA. AIZA DELOS REYES Signature of Field Study Student MR. RAYMOND ABOGA Signature of Resource Teacher DR. MA. TERESA RICERRA Signature of Field Study Teacher My Analysis: Explain the impact of the resource teacher in the observance of the principles on the T-L process. To become an efficient educator, you need to consider these principles in your way of teaching. It is not easy to be an educator since you cannot just do what you what you want in teaching children. Many things need to be considered. If one teacher wanted to have a strong foundation in his/her own teaching and impart a very great impact to his/her students, then these principles is the answer. This can signifies how her learners react from the way she teach and the way learners enjoy her class. For the learners, skills and abilities are not one day growth; it is a step by step process. The learners don’t really have an idea about these principles, but looking at them, they are indeed very active in cooperating with their teacher. An atmosphere of ease was surrounded in the whole class, where teaching can be more fun for the students as well as ease in acquiring the knowledge needed. My Reflection: I have chosen the two teachers because for a short period of time observing some teachers in Mabini College, these two teachers left me a great impact on how I’ll be handling my students soon. In my short time observing, they both adhering these principles well. As seen from their students, they are really well participating andseemedto beenjoying theirclass verywell.Bothteachers werevery effectiveinimplementingtheseprinciples as a whole since you can distinguish how they conduct classes. They can create a well-balanced classroom, an environment full of energy, and made the students get motivated in participating inside the class. As an observer and as a person, you can sense in a certain situation about things that seem wrong. From that observation, and sittingin that particularclassmademefeel of goingbackfrombeinga student. A feelingof that kind atmosphere, where you can feel the enjoyment of learning, and being drawn by the teachers’ enthusiasm and energy; that feeling of getting those lessons inside your brain without coercing your mind to learn it, that feeling of learning from the mistakes that indeed committed on that day and thinking of doing good the next time around. This feeling that felt on those days with them is an experience that these typical principles were being implemented.
