Pence Poll Numbers
If you recall we hinted in the last
Cheat Sheet that Indiana Governor
Mike Pence’s poll numbers were on
the upswing, which really helped with
his fundraising. It took all day, but we
got some insight. Apparently the
Governor was polling back in
November and from what we’ve been
able to find out Pence is in the 53-
55% range. John Gregg is in the 46-
48% range. What’s important to note
is that Pence is ahead and outside the
margin of error.
The LGBT Issue
Anyone who is expecting the Governor
to come out and directly say in his
State of the State address tomorrow
that he supports adding sexual
orientation and gender identity to the
state’s civil rights code will be in for a
disappointment. What TCS has been
able to find out is that Pence will not
endorse any particular plan, but
instead establish some
parameters. And what are those
parameters? Well, you know
that. Those parameters are
eliminating discrimination against the
LGBT community, but also respecting
Hoosiers religious freedom and
freedom on conscious. We’re also
hearing the Gov will call for local anti-
discrimination ordinances to stay in
place.

Pence’s Special Guest
When the Governor delivers his
speech tomorrow, look for him to
acknowledge a special guest, Rev.
Charles Harrison of the Ten Point
Coalition. Harrison and his wife will be
sitting next to First Lady Karen Pence
in the balcony. Why did Rev. Harrison
get an invite? Easy, Ten Point He has
has been instrumental in fighting of
drug abuse in Indianapolis and in
across Indiana and the Governor
plans on using a significant portion of
his speech to talk about how Indiana
can fight the drug problem. Thus, the
invitation and how folks like Rev.
Harrison are crucial to that fight.
