Basics of Motivation MOTIVATION MOTIVATION
Effort & performance Common thinking- working hard (effort) lead to good job (performance) But it is actually  Job performance= motivation X Ability X Situational constraints
How perceptions & Expectations Affect Motivation When employees perceived that they will be unable to perform at a level necessary to obtain rewards, whether extrinsic, they are likely to be de-motivated. Reward systems at many organizations are geared toward top performance and ignore mid-level performers.
Equity theory People will be motivated when they perceive that they are being treated fairly.
