The Ragged School Museum


                       The purpose of use:

                       The purpose of the Ragged School Museum is to make
                       the unique history of the East End of London, and in
                       particular of the Copperfield Road Ragged School ,
                       accessible to everyone.

                       The Museum runs a variety of different activities for all
                       ages. These include workshops, history talks, treasure
                       hunts and canal walks. These are open to all.




Tasks and activities achieved by teachers and students to achieve the
purpose:

     Explore and discover what life would have been like for children their
      age in the Victorian Era.
     Dressed as Victorian children.
     Look around the Museum’s galleries.




Standards of performance:

   Before visiting the museum: Students should form groups. Each group
      contains 3 students.


   During visiting the museum: Students must show and apply the
      following skills when they explore the museum through the tasks and
      activities: investigating, descriptive, reflective, speculative and creative
      thinking,   generating      ideas,   reasoning,   problem   solving,   using
imagination, communicating, enquiring, speaking, and questioning,
  object analysis, interrogating and interpreting objects. Social skills e.g.
  listening and responding, working with others and taking turns.
 Also, showing Attitudes and Values which include: self-esteem and
  confidence, cultural understanding and tolerance, feelings and
  perceptions, empathy and motivation
 After visiting the museum: creating presentation reflect all the skills
  and values they gained by exploring and experimenting the museum.
  Each group is responsible to collect information and taking photos of
  specific topic that the teacher specified to them.

3. Subject specialist curator(s) are

4. There are limited recourses and
   collection about the subject area.

   about what they can do / achieve

   they saw and did.
7. Use techniques and technology
   appropriate to educational goals,
   content, concepts, and audience.
