Technology s Effects On Mental Illnesses
I was sitting on the couch watching television. My mother asked me did I do my homework. No mom,
this is my favorite show can I please just watch it. I tried my best to convince her, but there was no
way. Well, I went to my room, and started on my homework. I had to write a narrative paper and turn
it in. I had no idea what I was going to write about, but I got my phone and started typing. After a
while of thinking, I got a text from my mom saying Are you on your phone . I told my mom that I had
to do it online. She went crazy. Your generation is so lazy; everything you all do is on technology!
Back in my day that did not exist. You are going to get a sheet of paper and turn it in with your hands!

depressed, because they do not have technology of any kind. There are even more negatives things
technology does to people. For example, the violent games online make people aggressive. Watching
or virtually participating in graphic violence is not healthy... Technology is creating violence. (Global
Student Network) Teenagers who play violent video games over a number of years become more
aggressive toward other people... (Telegraph) It is not just video games. There are always some haters.
People are mean; you can t even speak your mind on Facebook without somebody hating on you.

said she thinks and notices stuff, because she doesn t watch the parlor walls . (9) Since she was an
outcast, nobody cared about her. Clarisse got ran over by a car. It took Mildred four days to remember
to tell Guy that their neighbor died. (47) Captain Beatty says Clarisse is better off dead, because she

Examples Of Market Segmentation Of Apple
A. Segmentation, Targeting, Positioning and Differentiation are marketing tools which help the
marketers differentiate, attract, retain and grow the customer base for their respective products.
Market segmentation is a process of segregating the market into different smaller groups. A market
comprises of large number of heterogeneous customer base with distinct tastes and preferences. A
marketer needs to classify and segment people into smaller homogeneous groups basis similar
characteristics, tastes, preferences, likes, etc. so that they will respond in a similar fashion to a
particular product launched for that segment. Thus, market segmentation can be defined as, the sub

The Importance Of Guerrilla Warfare In The Revolutionary War
Guerrilla Warfare led to the Success of the Revolutionary war
A sneaky, stealthy war tactic called Guerilla Warfare won the American Revolutionary War for the
Patriots. Guerrilla warfare is a tactic that was practiced a lot in the revolutionary war and was without
a doubt one of the few reasons the Patriots defeated the British. Guerrilla warfare helped the colonists
win the Revolutionary war. This tactic was used successfully used in the Battle of Trenton, the Battle
of Lexington and Concord, and was widely practiced by Francis Marion in the south.
Guerrilla warfare is a tactic that does not involve head on head warfare. It is a tactic where the side
using it will hide within their surroundings. For example, the Patriots in the Revolutionary War used
all of their surroundings to their advantage like trees, rocks, houses, and walls.
Guerrilla warfare was a big part in winning many battles in the Revolutionary war. One of biggest
wins using this tactic was the Battle of Trenton. The Battle of Trenton was fought December 26, 1776
in Trenton, New Jersey. General George Washington decided to take the Hessians by surprise. The
Hessians were approximately 30,000 German soldiers that Great Britain hired to help them win the
war and about 1,400 were in Trenton. General George Washington took his soldiers and crossed the
Delaware river at the stroke of midnight. They were going to attack the Hessians while they were all
sleeping. Most people think that the

Articles Of Confederation Issue Analysis
After the Revolutionary war, the 13 colonies needed a government and they approved The Articles of
Confederation which was the first federal government that was approved by Congress in 1777 in
Philadelphia and was formally ratified and put in effect in 1781 (Keene, Cornell, O Donnell, 2013).
The issues that the raised from the Articles of Confederation was the distribution of power, instead of
giving too much power to central government like Britain, the founders decided to place the sovereign
power on the hands of the states. Also, they did not have national court system to impose laws that
were approved by government, and did not have a President.
Another problem of the government was economic disorganization, since there were no taxation,

Kurt Lewin s Change Management Theory
Change management theory:
In order for the initiative of bedside handover with the use of ISBAR framework to be implemented
and work efficiently, a change management theory can be applied. One change management theory
that is commonly used amongst nurses in different specialty areas is Kurt Lewin s change
management theory. This theory is of particular relevance to my initiative as in the last stage of the
theory involves sustainability which is of great importance when it comes to delivery quality care.
Lewin s change management theory involves three steps; unfreeze, change and refreeze. From Lewin
s perspective, the process of change begins with creating the perception that change is needed, then
moves onto the actual desirable level of change and lastly, solidifying the new behaviour as the new
normal (Burnes, 2004). In Lewin s first stage, unfreezing is about encouraging people to think about
the current situation and helping them realise the need for change (Kassean Jagoo, 2005). The first
move is therefore is to raise awareness for the need for change by communicating the proposed
change to all those who are going to be affected by the initiative, such as the patients, charge nurse
and nurses. Making research articles about the benefits of bedside handover available for people to
read is another way to raise awareness. Lastly, displaying posters of the new initiative around the ward
can be done as another tool to help implement the change. For the change

Steal The Baudelaire The Art Of Creativity
When individuals ask about creativity, typically they have pre conceived notion of what is creativity.
Studies from Business insider claims that school are trying to limit creativity by forcing classes that
are little to no interest to students. Those who ponder the idea about what is truly creative are
individuals who can be reason with. The art of creativity is one s own perspective; what one accepts as
ludicrous other might believe to be brilliant. A ted talk by Sir Ken Robinson s proven this statement by
using a child who fidgets a lot as an example of how most saw her as ill, but actually she s a talented
dancer who later on became a prodigy in ballet. So, if schools took away her creativity, then she
wouldn t have reached her full potential. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike math, science, history, and physical education classes, you can fully examine your options. The
novels, A series of unfortunate event shows how three rich orphans whose parents were killed by the
antagonist due to their money. Count Olaf, the antagonist in this book series tires tirelessly to steal the
Baudelaire children s fortune. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny have studied in every subject imaginable due
to their parents status, but they have never taken a course in creativity. If they had, life threatening
situation like being trapped in a hospital, or trying to escape from a slumbering wouldn t be as
challenging. The Baudelaire children are a prime example of how endless classes can all be useless if
your ability to adapt are adequate. If they even spend a fraction of their studying time for a creative
class, then their lives wouldn t always be in danger and fending for themselves in reality would be
easier. When Count Olaf trapped them inside a burning hospital, voilet didn t notice and came up with
a plan last second that almost costed her sibling their lives. If they ve been taught that a creative class,
violet wouldn t have hesitated and her sibling would not have to risk their lives while escaping.
Additionally, when the Baudelaire were trying to decipher a code from their friends, about where they
are being kept prisoner when they ve been captured by Count Olaf, if they had taken a class on
creativity then the code would of been a simple to them due to how its just basically a riddle.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that they ve never had any prior knowledge of expanding their mind
beyond: memorizing date for a class, remembering formulas, or learning names, failure is inevitable.
When the Baudelaire parents were alive, like the rest of society that overlook the benefits of a class
that truly can teach you more than simple education. It would expand thinking to

Smith got a lot of inspiration from Article 13, which says; the right of freedom to movement. The
short story The Go Between is written by Ali Smith and is about the main character, which is a 33
years old man, who helps people get over the border fence to Spain. He is born and raised in

Why the Giver Should Not Be Banned
Giving The Giver Back to CMS Library According to the American Library Association (ALA),
young adult novels are challenged with the best intentions. In most cases a parent will read a book that
their child might be reading in class to find out if the book is hazardous to their child s well being. If
the novel seems problematic, the parent then challenges the book. Even though the purpose of
challenging a novel is to keep children from reading about issues that may not be seen as appropriate
for their age group, censoring children from difficult subject matter is not always the solution. There is
always controversy when difficult issues arise in adolescent geared novels. Even though there are
many concerns with Lois Lowry s The Giver, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can t request a release, I know that. But what if something happened: an accident?. . . Then there
would be a new Receiver, but you have already given away an awful lot of important memories, so
even though they would select a new Receiver, the memories would be gone except for the shreds that
you have left of them? And then what if (Lowry 143).
Jonas is feeling things that no one in his community has ever felt before. He is beginning to
understand that others are missing out on important emotions. He knows that The Giver has already
given away most of the memories, and in order to stop the process, he must make a sacrifice in order
for his community to be aware of what they are missing. This proves that he is conscious of the fact
that his community is not perfect, and the act of staging an accident is a noble, selfless thing to do;
something that his perfect peers would not understand. When talking about the harms of banning
books and by quoting Lois Lowry, Jennifer Kendall states, The world portrayed in The Giver is a
world where choice has been taken away. It is a frightening world (Kendall). Kendall makes the point
that the Utopian society is not something that people strive for. As a middle schooled child, it is easy
to see that life is not perfect. I feel as if Lowry does a great job in showing the reader that Jonas does
understand that his community is not perfect, and he goes to great links to stop the perfection. While
there may seem to

Why Is Montresor Wrong
Has someone ever done something to you that angered you? Louis L Armour states Anger is a killing
thing. It kills the man who angers, for each rage leaves him less than he had before it takes something
from him . In the story Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, the main character, Montresor, kills
his friend because fortunato did him wrong. Nemo me impune lacessit (Poe 289), says No one attacks
me with impunity . This is the cause of Montresor s actions. In this story Montresor lures his friend
into a cell, where he starves him to death as revenge for being insulted. This punishment is far too
harsh for such a little crime. Although Montresor felt bad after the death of his friend, it does not
change the cruelness, hatred, and anger he holds. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the story, Montresor states Let us be gone (Poe 292), merely mocking Fortunato before his
death. As you can see, Montresor was cruel to Fortunato, even during the process of murdering him.
Although he had said something this mean, Montresor could not stop. He mocked fortunato with cruel
his voice, and laughed as he suffered. Not only is Montresor cruel, but he is full of hatred. In the story,
Montresor says The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when he ventured
upon insult, I vowed revenge (Poe 286). This obviously shows the hatred Montresor holds, and the
lengths he will go to get revenge. This also shows that Fortunato had done something to him, thus
giving him a reason to hate Fortunato. Another part of the story showing Montresor this way is when
he says, I must not only punish him, but punish with impunity (Poe

Clausewitz on Nature and Character of War
There are no universal theories to explain the true nature and character of war, and any war theories
are not a fact or absolute truth. All strategic principles are dynamic and contextual, so every age had
its own kind of war, its own limiting conditions, and its own peculiar preconceptions. The battlefield
environment of the 21st century will be the volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous, and nature of
war will be completely different because of the Revolution in Military Affairs. Highly advance

To developed the war theory, Clausewitz used the Dialectic approach, which is a method of
philosophical argument that involves contradictory process between opposing ideas to establish the
truth, propounded by the German philosopher G W F Hegel. His thesis on war is an absolute war.
According to him total or absolute war carry out with the utmost violence for unlimited aims, and
there is no logic limit to the application of available all power. On total war both warring fraction
could not suspend their military operation and hostilities until one or other side finally defeated, or

Ancient Egypt Research Paper
Illness is in no way a new thing, if you had happened to to sick at the time of ancient egyptians there
probably was a treatment for it. However in ancient egypt, the medicine that we think of now was not
the preferred way in treating diseases. The egyptians had a leg on on the other societies of the ancient
world. This mostly relates to their embalming process where they religiously practiced removing and
preserving human remains. The ancient egyptians believed that in order for a soul to travel to the
afterlife the body must be preserved.Through the embalming process, egyptians had gained great

Ronald Reagan announced his candidacy in November 1979, after making political friends at party
fund raising dinners around the country. He easily defeated the other nominees for the Republican
nomination. He chose Gerald Ford as his vice president. But when Ford s negotiators proposed that
the vice president should share presidential powers, Reagan chose George Bush instead.
During the campaign against Democratic candidate Jimmy Carter, the biggest issue was the economy.
Reagan blamed Carter for weaknesses in foreign policy and a weak army. During the time of the
election Reagan had great public support, which made it easier to push his program through congress.
When Reagan became president he started out in a recession. 11 percent of the work force was
unemployed in fall, 1982. This recession reduced inflation significantly, but the interest rates remained
high. During the next two years the economic recovery began. The unemployment came down, but
thousands of factory jobs disappeared. The new jobs, which were mostly in service industries, paid
less, leaving inflation low.
Reagan s economic policy worked on the claim that investment in industry and spending by
consumers would eventually increase tax revenues. With this policy, he persuaded Congress to pass
the Economic Recovery Tax Act. This enacted tax cuts that benefited upper income taxpayers and

Taking into consideration that difference is not the same as inequality (Blakeley et al., 2009, p. 24),
this essay intends to look at KÖ and outline how the material things contribute towards differences
with reference to City Road; deriving from the premise that the material assets of a street can generate
either an inclusive or exclusive interaction, favouring some and not others. Königsalle, known by its
nickname, Kö, is the most beloved upscale commercial street in Germany (Welt online, 2010). On one

contributing towards differences. While City Road reveals a more inclusive image, Kö conversely
manifests a more exclusive one.

Persuasion Is The Act Of Changing Individuals
Persuasion is the act of changing individuals attitudes or behaviours; this is all around us in everyday
life especially in the media. Persuasion has shown to be effective however there are some attempts
that fail, in this essay I will explain why persuasion doesn t always work. The factors I will look at are
reactance, counterarguing, avoidance, forewarning and attitude inoculation.
Reactance theory can explain why some persuasion attempts fail. This suggests that a persistent
attempt to persuade can actually backfire, because the individual feels that the persuasive message is
directly threatening their personal freedom. This threat to their personal freedom will often produce a
defiant response which is called the boomerang effect. The individual reacts against the intended
message and takes on a totally different attitude because they become irritated and their reaction is to
go against the persuader, especially if the individual has strong pre existing attitudes. There is research
to support this by Rex A. Wright, Virginia Wadley, Maria Danner, and Priscilla Phillips. A sample of
21 female undergraduates were asked to make an independent assessment of the attractiveness of 2
men. In the experiment, they were or were not given an opinion statement that threatened their
freedom, in conditions of either no pressure, mild pressure or high pressure. The results found that
when participants freedom was not restricted, then there was a persuasion effect. However, when the

Feudalism And Serfs
In Feudalism there was no standing army; instead, soldiers referred to as knights were called upon to
fight when needed by the king. Using the system of obligations between the lords, vassals, and the
serfs centered around a fief, a large body of knights was supported by Feudalism. In many cases, the
vassal himself was a knight due to the military obligations to his lord. The knights were widely
respected and were seen as chivalrous as they took a solemn oath to the king to defend him with their
lives (Nardo 31). Serfs contributed to the Feudalistic military in a few ways. Foremost, they worked
on the fief and supported a single knight by providing him with food and equipment in order for him
to fight (Lenehan). A large number of knights ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without the lady who solved disputes between the peasants in the lord s absence, there would be total
anarchy and chaos. The peasants could rebel, and enough food could not be produced to meet the
basic survival needs of the vassal and his family. If the vassal did not meet these survival needs, he
would not be able to fight on his lord s orders, or even provide taxes to the lord. The manor was often
exposed to external threats that could damage the source of revenue to the king. Without the lady to
protect the manor in the vassal s absence, the entire manor would be destroyed and raided, leaving
nothing for the people to survive. Without the lady of the manor to provide heirs to the vassal, there
would be no one to continue fighting for the king. The lady also served as a mentor to the future ladies
of the manor, who would marry other vassals and perform the crucial role of supervising and
protecting the manor, providing heirs to the manor, and presiding over disputes between the

Black Beauty And Anna Sewell s George And The Jewels
Wow! Reading the point of view of a first person narrative reveals so much about the author s
thoughts. While reading first person narratives, it enables readers to understand more information
throughout the story. Hearing the thoughts and ideas right from the character makes it easier to make
connections. In the short story George and the Jewels by Jane Smiley, the main character Abby goes
through a transition from disliking horses to understanding them. In Black Beauty by Anna Sewell, the
story is narrated by a horse who is introduced into a new environment where he has to become used to
being rode every day. By examining Black Beauty and The George and Jewels, it shows that both
passages use first person point of view to develop ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the end, it shows her being in a relaxed and calm state. Abby is remembering her mare that she
tamed back then, wishing to see the horse again. This point of view is important to the story because
the reader can understand how she connects with the horse, but unlike her father, she sees them as
smart animals and compares them to dogs. By viewing the story in first person, the reader is able to
understand Abby s thoughts and feelings in depth about her changing emotions with horses. There is a
similar short passage that connects these ideas.
Black Beauty uses first person narratives to interpret the new environment and how the horse feels
about the changes. In quote 1, it states, I had of course been used to a halter and a headstall, and to be
led about in the fields and lanes quietly, but now I was to have a bit and bridle, my master gave me
some oats as usual, and after a good deal of coaxing he got the bit into my mouth, and the bridle fixed,
but it was a nasty thing . It is comparing how Black Beauty used to roam around the field, but now his
master started to put on riding gear. The horse felt discomfort when he was first introduced to the bit.
The point of view is important because the reader is viewing how Black Beauty went through a new
experience that was uncomfortable to get used to. Even though the horse was shown kindness, it was
not happy with the new gear. In quote 2, it states, It certainly did feel queer, but must

What Is The Thorns In The Scarlet Letter A
My project consists of a cake garnished with the red letter A. The A is divided by two contradictory
ideas. The initial fraction of the cake has black frosting and a red A on it. The A has thorns around it,
showing the immoral part of the letter. The opposite half of the cake has white frosting and a red A and
is ornamented with roses instead of barbs. The relationship I am showing by including the two halves
of the A is how the idea of the letter changed throughout the book. At first, the letter, and Hester are
perceived as sinful, evil, and a smear on Puritan culture. But once Hester becomes a giver in her
community, she becomes one who the Puritans regard as being an angel or able. I took advantage of
the roses, thorns, and the opposition between black and white, to show how this change happens. ...

At the beginning of the book, the rose bush outside the prison symbolizes hope where there is none,
while at the same time its thorns show the pain of the prisoners in the prison. I used the thorns in the
first half to show how Hester is in more sadness at the beginning because she is being criticized so
sternly by everybody around her. I used the roses in the second half though to demonstrate how Hester
gains hope because of her transformed image. In addition, I chose black and white as the frosting
colors of the halves to show how contrasting these two meanings of the letter are. I chose black and
white because black is more of a sinful color, which shows how society looks at Hester and only sees
her sin through the first parts of the book. White is purer and shows how Hester becomes a symbol of
purity to the town, and the A is changed to mean angel instead of an adulterer or a sinner. First, the A
viewed as very sinful and evil, and then more

This week s article was very informative for me since I m wanting to build my own bolt action rifle in
the future. I ll be honest I really don t know much about bolt action rifles I know the common brands
like Remington and Savage or Tikka. But I don t know all the key area to look at when building one.
This article seems to be a good foundation to start with when building one.
I know if you are having one build you need to have effective communication with the person that
building it and I know if your ordering parts you need to pay attention to detail when ordering parts.
For example, if you have a Savage Model 10 and your trying to buy a new stock there s a 4.40 and

After reading this article I learn there much more that I need to figure out. I like all the check list that
were given from action selection, action work, or replacing the bolt with an aftermarket unit. These
are all effective ways to check off when picking the type of work or parts that you want.
The trigger for me is also very important I personally like the one stage triggers and have found that in
factory triggers the Savage accrue trigger is my preference. I willing to try out other aftermarket ones.
To me if your happy with it then there no need to spend extra money.

A Confederacy Of Dunces Is Much More Than A Comedy Beneath

The postmodern style of writing John Kennedy Toole, makes so that the various cast of the characters
in the story are much closer to people in real life making this book a perfect case to study and relate to
characters of people across the world .
Ignatius is introduced to us as a obnoxious and gruesome character A green hunting cap squeezed the
top of the fleshy balloon of a head. The green earflaps, full of large ears and uncut hair and the fine
bristles that grew in the ears themselves, stuck out on either side like turn signals indicating two
directions at once (Toole, John Kennedy, 1). John Kennedy is not trying to impress us with Ignatius.
He is giving us a fantastic, complex character with radical ideas. Every sense of his character is an
attempt to show us what not to do. He is unlikable and disgusting yet he judges other people, Ignatius

comfort which he seems to care about more than anything else except for his ego. Ignatius does not

Public Health Nutrition Personal Statement
Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to do something special in life. I was born in a small
village in Mexico where public health and education were very limited. In 1996, my family and I got
the opportunity to move to the United States. This move brought me closer than I had ever thought
possible to accomplishing my dream of becoming a registered dietitian and working in public health
nutrition. I have always valued my education because where I am from it was really difficult to study
beyond middle school. Here, in the United States, I have gotten the chance to further my education
beyond high school.
In 2009, I became a U.S. citizen and enrolled in Pellissippi State Community College (PSCC) where I
acquired my Associates in Science degree. While at PSCC, I had the chance to study abroad and
volunteer in Segovia, Spain, where I taught English to elementary school children. I also assisted the
nurses at Los Hermanos Franciscanos de la Cruz Blanca, a center for the poor and disabled, where I
helped with patient care, feedings, daily exercises and workshops. I really enjoyed working with
people that cared about others health and well being. It was a life changing experience. ... Show more

The Interpretation Of Woodrow Wilson
The interpretation of Woodrow Wilson (1913 21)
I have taken this from an external source to show the power of idealism, and how Woodrow was
perceived.
Wilson abandoned the imperialist policy and brought to the White House a new way of looking at
America s relations with the outside world. Wilson believed that the United States was the most
politically enlightened in a sense under god, he felt that people throughout the world had their right to
choose their own governments. Wilson was only protecting people rights to democracy.
Primary Source Analysis
6. Wilson Defends the Peace Treaty and League, 1919 (Indianapolis, Indiana September 4)
As I read in between the lines of the text it comes clear that U.S appears to be the Super country and
not only that, I believe that Woodrow Wilson is protecting the interest of countries by making them
sign a Treaty explaining them not allowed to go to war for no reason of any sort.
The text conveys the talk of economic boycott I believe what he was trying to convey was that anyone
who economically trades with a country that has started a war with a country but another country and
helps them with the economy, will be part of the country of war and will not be funded and also
isolated and cannot take their decision back.
In text 5 talks about articles of the league of Nations Covenant 1919. Article 10 to article 14, talks
about any member of league to act hostile or aggressive, is declared a matter of concern and if

Herbal and Alternative Remedies
HERBAL AND ALTERNATIVE MEDICATIONS
Herbal remedies come from plants. If possible, choose a remedy which has been standardized, i.e. the
contents are approximately the same in each bottle or tablet you buy. Plant remedies are not always
safer than ordinary medicines. All of them can have side effects and interact with other medicines.
Supplements include vitamins, minerals and animal and plant products, such as cod liver oil. They can
also have side effects and interact with other medicines. Some people take supplements, like vitamin
C in high doses, but this can damage the liver or kidneys. Many supplements have a recommended
daily intake (RDI), or allowance (RDA). Do not go beyond this dose without talking to an experienced
health professional.
CAMs and mental health problems:
Many CAMs have been used for mental health problems, but there is little good evidence to support
their use. Some of these treatments may work, but most have not been thoroughly tested. The studies
have often been too small to give a clear answer. We know most about the treatments for depression,
anxiety and insomnia. Despite the lack of evidence, people all over the world take CAMs, and many
report that they find them helpful. Ultimately, whether taking CAMs is a good idea depends on
individual circumstances. We recommend that you talk to your GP or mental health team first.
If you are considering taking CAMs, you should seek specialist advice if:

Examples Of John Is Falling In Love
1. Introduction
1.1 What is Aspect? Aspect refers to how an event or action is to be viewed with respect to time, rather
than to its actual location in time. We can illustrate this using the following examples:
[1] John fell in love on his eighteenth birthday
[2] John has fallen in love
[3] John is falling in love
In [1], the verb fell tells us that John fell in love in the past, and specifically on his eighteenth birthday.
This is a simple past tense verb.
In [2] also, the action took place in the past, but it is implied that it took place quite recently.
Furthermore, it is implied that is still relevant at the time of speaking John has fallen in love, and that s
why he s behaving the way he is. It is worth noting that we cannot ... Show more content on

The Lighthouse By Virginia Woolf
The purpose of a lighthouse is to serve as a navigational aid to shores or ports and to warn boats of
dangerous areas. To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf is a novel that teaches how one person can
affect the lives of people around them by, in a sense, shining a light on the person s specific traits. In
the novel, Mrs. Ramsay is one of the main characters that unfortunately does not make it to the end of
the story, but her presence is shadowed throughout the novel where she is not there physically.
Virginia Woolf used the lighthouse as analogy for Mrs. Ramsay s existence in the first part of the book
and after her death during the third section of the book. Mrs. Ramsay s death allows the reader to
realize that she is the lighthouse that highlights and unifies her family and all the guests during the
time spent together at the Ramsay s summer home. Though Mrs. Ramsay was the conjoining light that
brought people together, Woolf decides to kill Mrs. Ramsay in part two of the novel. During the
moments of Mrs. Ramsay lighting, Woolf incorporates dark thoughts that expresses a different side to
the novel. Bitter and black, half way down, in the darkness, in the shaft which ran from the sunlight to
the depths, perhaps a tear formed; a tear fell... (p.32). Woolf is reflecting on her perception of death
and how she dealt with the thoughts of killing herself. As for Woolf s own death, she left her house
leaving behind a note to Vanessa Bell, her sister, and a note to Leonard Woolf,

The Cycle From Nomadic To Sedentary And Then Conquered
The cycle from Nomadic to sedentary and then conquered by nomads would spin its wheel right into
the mighty Empire of Europe, as Roman expansion in Europe spreading its resources thin and the
migratory period of nomadic tribes, like the Germanic Goths, to expand south near the black sea, from
Scandinavia in the late first century AD. The Roman empire had always been on the offense for
centuries, conquering territory after territory, but with every large empire, military units needed to
increase to keep its boarders safe from invaders. Rome would rely on hiring foreign tribes as
mercenaries in the north for protection, but even with this, the Emperor Diocletian would split the
empire into four sections for better management. The Goths had ... Show more content on

The welcoming party was short lived, as the Visigoths were treated inhumanly by the Romans,
allowing many to starve to death, and exploiting the children of Goths in exchange for dog meat.
Feeling betrayed, in 376 AD, the Goths rebelled against Rome by plundering the nearby towns with
whatever they can take. The Goths would continue pillaging the countryside of Rome, gathering
resources and soldiers made up of prisoners of Rome and former slaves, and in 378 AD they went up
against the emperor Valens himself at the battle of Adrianople. Consequently, Emperor Valens, along
with two thirds of his armies, perished under the brute force of Fritigern armies. This was one of the
most devastating defeat to the Romans in centuries. The Visigoths armies would split in 380 AD with
the Greuthungi going north to invade, and the Therving going south. The new Eastern Roman
Emperor, Theodosius I, would campaign against the Goths and either defeated or signed a peace treaty
with the Greuthungi Goths. Western Rome would send two generals to help its eastern counterpart
against the remaining Goths producing no results, and in 382 AD, Rome would end the war with a
treaty, allowing land distribution to the visigoths, while they agreed to produce men for Rome s ever
diminishing military. Rome would break the treaty with the foreigners after the death of Theodosius I
a few years later, creating a series of catastrophic events for the western division of the empire. In 397

The Theory Of Nursing Theory

Nursing. Introduction Nursing theory is a belief, policy, procedure proposed or followed as the basis

Nursing theories have also made their influence on patient care and outcome. The theory I have
chosen to treat in this paper is Roy s adaptation Model. The Roy s model is about adaptation. It has
four key concepts, the person, health, environment and nursing. The Roy s adaptation model states a
person is a bio psych social being in constant interaction with a changing environment. The adaptation
has two subsystems. First the cognator subsystem which is a major coping process involving four
cognitive emotive channels: perceptual and information processing, learning, judgment, and emotion.
And secondly the regulator subsystem which is a basic type of adaptive process that responds
automatically through neural, chemical, and endocrine coping channels. ANALYSIS OF NURSING
THEORY Nursing theories have been a major contributor to nursing education, it has helped create a
focus. Nursing theories have also helped healthcare professional, managers and patients make unique
contributions to health care. According to Im, E. Chang, S.J. (2012) Believing that the trends of
focusing on specifics in theoretical works, close linkage to research, and integration to practice are

The Corruption And Greed That Infested French High Society...
The Pere Goriot, illustrates the corruption and greed that infested French high society during the
Bourbon Restoration. Honore de Balzac who was a right winged conservative, depicts post
revolutionary Paris as a place of corruption, greed, and dysfunctional families. The class system was
more fragile than ever before and if one was willing to do what it takes, they could have the
opportunity to make it into the Parisian Elite. With Feudalism abolished in France, you no longer had
to be born in the first estate to live the lavish life of the social elite. As a steadfast conservative and
opponent of the Revolution, Balzac depicts this new social mobility as something that corrupted
French Society. The Bourbon Restoration allowed for your wealth to be the main factor in what part of
the social strata you belonged, not what family you were born into. The abolition of feudalism coupled
with the emergence of capitalism in France furthermore allowed for people to more easily move up the
social ladder. The social structure was a volatile one, people were making and losing money all the
time and Balzac illuminates on how much people struggle to live lavishly. The fragile social structure
was not liked by conservatives who were used to never having to worry about dropping out of the elite
or people joining it. He illustrates the Parisian people as pitiless, selfish, and egocentric. Not only does
he show that the Parisian elite were cold blooded people who only cared about money and

Barnes And Noble Case Study Solution
Barnes Noble was originally founded as a book printing company in 1873 in Wheaton, Illinois. In
1917, the company opened its first bookstore in New York City. However, in 1974, the company fell
on hard times and was bought by Leonard Riggio. Barnes Noble eventually become the largest
bookstore by 1996, offering discounted books. By the late 1990s, Barnes Noble was faced with a new
challenge, the Internet; customers were able to order their books cheaper online and read them without
going to a physical bookstore. This forced Barnes Noble to reevaluate its strategy and its future
direction in order to stay competitive in the bookstore industry. Barnes Noble narrowed its problems
down into two major issues. The first issue was whether or not the company should split its two
business lines, having one line for digital and online business and the other serve as the more
traditional brick and mortar stores. The company also needed to determine the best way to allocate its
resources so that it could compete aggressively in the market. The second issue facing the company
was whether it was well suited to make these necessary changes independently or if it would need
some allies in order to achieve success. Because Barnes Noble was strictly a publisher and retailer, the
company didn t have the knowledge or experience to independently build an e reader for the online
market that could compete effectively; it needed to partner with another company that could build a

This theory is of particular relevance to my initiative as in the last stage of the theory involves sustainability which is of great importance when it comes to delivery quality care. Lewin s change management theory involves three steps; unfreeze, change and refreeze. From Lewin s perspective, the process of change begins with creating the perception that change is needed, then moves onto the actual desirable level of change and lastly, solidifying the new behaviour as the new normal (Burnes, 2004). In Lewin s first stage, unfreezing is about encouraging people to think about the current situation and helping them realise the need for change (Kassean Jagoo, 2005). The first move is therefore is to raise awareness for the need for change by communicating the proposed change to all those who are going to be affected by the initiative, such as the patients, charge nurse and nurses. Making research articles about the benefits of bedside handover available for people to read is another way to raise awareness. Lastly, displaying posters of the new initiative around the ward can be done as another tool to help implement the change. For the change ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Studies from Business insider claims that school are trying to limit creativity by forcing classes that are little to no interest to students. Those who ponder the idea about what is truly creative are individuals who can be reason with. The art of creativity is one s own perspective; what one accepts as ludicrous other might believe to be brilliant. A ted talk by Sir Ken Robinson s proven this statement by using a child who fidgets a lot as an example of how most saw her as ill, but actually she s a talented dancer who later on became a prodigy in ballet. If they had, life threatening situation like being trapped in a hospital, or trying to escape from a slumbering wouldn t be as challenging. The Baudelaire children are a prime example of how endless classes can all be useless if your ability to adapt are adequate. If they even spend a fraction of their studying time for a creative class, then their lives wouldn t always be in danger and fending for themselves in reality would be easier. When Count Olaf trapped them inside a burning hospital, voilet didn t notice and came up with a plan last second that almost costed her sibling their lives. If they ve been taught that a creative class, violet wouldn t have hesitated and her sibling would not have to risk their lives while escaping. Additionally, when the Baudelaire were trying to decipher a code from their friends, about where they are being kept prisoner when they ve been captured by Count Olaf, if they had taken a class on creativity then the code would of been a simple to them due to how its just basically a riddle. Unfortunately, due to the fact that they ve never had any prior knowledge of expanding their mind beyond: memorizing date for a class, remembering formulas, or learning names, failure is inevitable. • 12. Why the Giver Should Not Be Banned Giving The Giver Back to CMS Library According to the American Library Association (ALA), young adult novels are challenged with the best intentions. In most cases a parent will read a book that their child might be reading in class to find out if the book is hazardous to their child s well being. If the novel seems problematic, the parent then challenges the book. Even though the purpose of challenging a novel is to keep children from reading about issues that may not be seen as appropriate for their age group, censoring children from difficult subject matter is not always the solution. And then what if (Lowry 143). Jonas is feeling things that no one in his community has ever felt before. He is beginning to understand that others are missing out on important emotions. He knows that The Giver has already given away most of the memories, and in order to stop the process, he must make a sacrifice in order for his community to be aware of what they are missing. This proves that he is conscious of the fact that his community is not perfect, and the act of staging an accident is a noble, selfless thing to do; something that his perfect peers would not understand. When talking about the harms of banning books and by quoting Lois Lowry, Jennifer Kendall states, The world portrayed in The Giver is a world where choice has been taken away. It is a frightening world (Kendall). Kendall makes the point that the Utopian society is not something that people strive for. As a middle schooled child, it is easy to see that life is not perfect. It kills the man who angers, for each rage leaves him less than he had before it takes something from him . In the story Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, the main character, Montresor, kills his friend because fortunato did him wrong. Nemo me impune lacessit (Poe 289), says No one attacks me with impunity . This is the cause of Montresor s actions. In this story Montresor lures his friend into a cell, where he starves him to death as revenge for being insulted. This punishment is far too harsh for such a little crime. In the story, Montresor says The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge (Poe 286). This obviously shows the hatred Montresor holds, and the lengths he will go to get revenge. This also shows that Fortunato had done something to him, thus giving him a reason to hate Fortunato. • 21. Persuasion Is The Act Of Changing Individuals Persuasion is the act of changing individuals attitudes or behaviours; this is all around us in everyday life especially in the media. Persuasion has shown to be effective however there are some attempts that fail, in this essay I will explain why persuasion doesn t always work. The factors I will look at are reactance, counterarguing, avoidance, forewarning and attitude inoculation. Reactance theory can explain why some persuasion attempts fail. This suggests that a persistent attempt to persuade can actually backfire, because the individual feels that the persuasive message is directly threatening their personal freedom. This threat to their personal freedom will often produce a defiant response which is called the boomerang effect. The individual reacts against the intended message and takes on a totally different attitude because they become irritated and their reaction is to go against the persuader, especially if the individual has strong pre existing attitudes. There is research to support this by Rex A. Wright, Virginia Wadley, Maria Danner, and Priscilla Phillips. A sample of 21 female undergraduates were asked to make an independent assessment of the attractiveness of 2 men. In the experiment, they were or were not given an opinion statement that threatened their freedom, in conditions of either no pressure, mild pressure or high pressure. By viewing the story in first person, the reader is able to understand Abby s thoughts and feelings in depth about her changing emotions with horses. These are all effective ways to check off when picking the type of work or parts that you want. The trigger for me is also very important I personally like the one stage triggers and have found that in factory triggers the Savage accrue trigger is my preference. I willing to try out other aftermarket ones. To me if your happy with it then there no need to spend extra money. Depending on spending rates, what one plans to do with the money, and whether or not they want to pay fees and earn interest, decides which saving account is right for that specific person. In my case, the statement savings account is right for me. In my situation a statement savings account is right because it requires minimal fees, it is safe, and I can access money very quickly. Although, if someone is looking for an account which they will earn high interest rate, choosing the Certificate of Deposit, or money market savings account would be a better option. No matter which account one goes with, it is always good to make sure the financial institution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Confederacy Of Dunces Is Much More Than A Comedy Beneath A Confederacy of dunces is much more than a comedy beneath the hilarious and unlikable characters lies a much more subtle message.Walker Percy writes, in the introduction of the novel I hesitate to use the word comedy though comedy it is because that implies simply a funny book, and this novel is a great deal more than that ...It is also sad. One never quite knows where the sadness comes from. (Percy, Walker foreword , A Confederacy of Dunces, p ix). The postmodern style of writing John Kennedy Toole, makes so that the various cast of the characters in the story are much closer to people in real life making this book a perfect case to study and relate to characters of people across the world . Ignatius is introduced to us as a obnoxious and gruesome character A green hunting cap squeezed the top of the fleshy balloon of a head. The green earflaps, full of large ears and uncut hair and the fine bristles that grew in the ears themselves, stuck out on either side like turn signals indicating two directions at once (Toole, John Kennedy, 1). John Kennedy is not trying to impress us with Ignatius. He is giving us a fantastic, complex character with radical ideas. Every sense of his character is an attempt to show us what not to do. He is unlikable and disgusting yet he judges other people, Ignatius s appearance is a symbol for what lies beneath, his taste in clothing hints at his care for his own comfort which he seems to care about more than anything else except for his ego. Ignatius does not change throughout the story. This however, is not due to his incapability to change, he is simply not willing to change and he blames Fortuna! on every turn. His unwillingness to change is best said by himself when he The book teaches us to accept that which we cannot change. It describes the plight of a just man in an unjust society. • 30. Public Health Nutrition Personal Statement Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to do something special in life. I was born in a small village in Mexico where public health and education were very limited. In 1996, my family and I got the opportunity to move to the United States. This move brought me closer than I had ever thought possible to accomplishing my dream of becoming a registered dietitian and working in public health nutrition. I have always valued my education because where I am from it was really difficult to study beyond middle school. Here, in the United States, I have gotten the chance to further my education beyond high school. In 2009, I became a U.S. citizen and enrolled in Pellissippi State Community College (PSCC) where I acquired my Associates in Science degree. While at PSCC, I had the chance to study abroad and volunteer in Segovia, Spain, where I taught English to elementary school children. I also assisted the nurses at Los Hermanos Franciscanos de la Cruz Blanca, a center for the poor and disabled, where I helped with patient care, feedings, daily exercises and workshops. I really enjoyed working with people that cared about others health and well being. It was a life changing experience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 31. The Interpretation Of Woodrow Wilson The interpretation of Woodrow Wilson (1913 21) I have taken this from an external source to show the power of idealism, and how Woodrow was perceived. Wilson abandoned the imperialist policy and brought to the White House a new way of looking at America s relations with the outside world. Wilson believed that the United States was the most politically enlightened in a sense under god, he felt that people throughout the world had their right to choose their own governments. Wilson was only protecting people rights to democracy. Primary Source Analysis 6. Wilson Defends the Peace Treaty and League, 1919 (Indianapolis, Indiana September 4) As I read in between the lines of the text it comes clear that U.S appears to be the Super country and not only that, I believe that Woodrow Wilson is protecting the interest of countries by making them sign a Treaty explaining them not allowed to go to war for no reason of any sort. The text conveys the talk of economic boycott I believe what he was trying to convey was that anyone who economically trades with a country that has started a war with a country but another country and helps them with the economy, will be part of the country of war and will not be funded and also isolated and cannot take their decision back. In text 5 talks about articles of the league of Nations Covenant 1919. • 32. Herbal and Alternative Remedies HERBAL AND ALTERNATIVE MEDICATIONS Herbal remedies come from plants. If possible, choose a remedy which has been standardized, i.e. the contents are approximately the same in each bottle or tablet you buy. Plant remedies are not always safer than ordinary medicines. All of them can have side effects and interact with other medicines. Supplements include vitamins, minerals and animal and plant products, such as cod liver oil. They can also have side effects and interact with other medicines. Some people take supplements, like vitamin C in high doses, but this can damage the liver or kidneys. Many supplements have a recommended daily intake (RDI), or allowance (RDA). Do not go beyond this dose without talking to an experienced health professional. CAMs and mental health problems: Many CAMs have been used for mental health problems, but there is little good evidence to support their use. Some of these treatments may work, but most have not been thoroughly tested. The studies have often been too small to give a clear answer. We know most about the treatments for depression, anxiety and insomnia. Despite the lack of evidence, people all over the world take CAMs, and many report that they find them helpful. Ultimately, whether taking CAMs is a good idea depends on individual circumstances. We recommend that you talk to your GP or mental health team first. If you are considering taking CAMs, you should seek specialist advice if: you are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aspect refers to how an event or action is to be viewed with respect to time, rather than to its actual location in time. We can illustrate this using the following examples: [1] John fell in love on his eighteenth birthday [2] John has fallen in love [3] John is falling in love In [1], the verb fell tells us that John fell in love in the past, and specifically on his eighteenth birthday. This is a simple past tense verb. In [2] also, the action took place in the past, but it is implied that it took place quite recently. • 34. The Lighthouse By Virginia Woolf The purpose of a lighthouse is to serve as a navigational aid to shores or ports and to warn boats of dangerous areas. To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf is a novel that teaches how one person can affect the lives of people around them by, in a sense, shining a light on the person s specific traits. In the novel, Mrs. Ramsay is one of the main characters that unfortunately does not make it to the end of the story, but her presence is shadowed throughout the novel where she is not there physically. Virginia Woolf used the lighthouse as analogy for Mrs. Ramsay s existence in the first part of the book and after her death during the third section of the book. Mrs. Ramsay s death allows the reader to realize that she is the lighthouse that highlights and unifies her family and all the guests during the time spent together at the Ramsay s summer home. Though Mrs. Ramsay was the conjoining light that brought people together, Woolf decides to kill Mrs. Ramsay in part two of the novel. During the moments of Mrs. Ramsay lighting, Woolf incorporates dark thoughts that expresses a different side to the novel. Bitter and black, half way down, in the darkness, in the shaft which ran from the sunlight to the depths, perhaps a tear formed; a tear fell... (p.32). Woolf is reflecting on her perception of death and how she dealt with the thoughts of killing herself. As for Woolf s own death, she left her house leaving behind a note to Vanessa Bell, her sister, and a note to Leonard Woolf, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Roman empire had always been on the offense for centuries, conquering territory after territory, but with every large empire, military units needed to increase to keep its boarders safe from invaders. The welcoming party was short lived, as the Visigoths were treated inhumanly by the Romans, allowing many to starve to death, and exploiting the children of Goths in exchange for dog meat. Feeling betrayed, in 376 AD, the Goths rebelled against Rome by plundering the nearby towns with whatever they can take. The Goths would continue pillaging the countryside of Rome, gathering resources and soldiers made up of prisoners of Rome and former slaves, and in 378 AD they went up against the emperor Valens himself at the battle of Adrianople. Consequently, Emperor Valens, along with two thirds of his armies, perished under the brute force of Fritigern armies. This was one of the most devastating defeat to the Romans in centuries. The Visigoths armies would split in 380 AD with the Greuthungi going north to invade, and the Therving going south. The new Eastern Roman Emperor, Theodosius I, would campaign against the Goths and either defeated or signed a peace treaty with the Greuthungi Goths. Western Rome would send two generals to help its eastern counterpart against the remaining Goths producing no results, and in 382 AD, Rome would end the war with a treaty, allowing land distribution to the visigoths, while they agreed to produce men for Rome s ever diminishing military. Rome would break the treaty with the foreigners after the death of Theodosius I a few years later, creating a series of catastrophic events for the western division of the empire. In 397 AD, ... The theory I have chosen to treat in this paper is Roy s adaptation Model. The Roy s model is about adaptation. It has four key concepts, the person, health, environment and nursing. The Roy s adaptation model states a person is a bio psych social being in constant interaction with a changing environment. The adaptation has two subsystems. First the cognator subsystem which is a major coping process involving four cognitive emotive channels: perceptual and information processing, learning, judgment, and emotion. And secondly the regulator subsystem which is a basic type of adaptive process that responds automatically through neural, chemical, and endocrine coping channels. ANALYSIS OF NURSING THEORY Nursing theories have been a major contributor to nursing education, it has helped create a focus. Nursing theories have also helped healthcare professional, managers and patients make unique contributions to health care. According to Im, E. Chang, S.J. (2012) Believing that the trends of focusing on specifics in theoretical works, close linkage to research, and integration to practice are positive in the sense that the close linkage to research could provide solid grounds for theoretical development in nursing and that the specifics could facilitate and strengthen the linkages between ... • 38. The Corruption And Greed That Infested French High Society... The Pere Goriot, illustrates the corruption and greed that infested French high society during the Bourbon Restoration. Honore de Balzac who was a right winged conservative, depicts post revolutionary Paris as a place of corruption, greed, and dysfunctional families. The class system was more fragile than ever before and if one was willing to do what it takes, they could have the opportunity to make it into the Parisian Elite. With Feudalism abolished in France, you no longer had to be born in the first estate to live the lavish life of the social elite. As a steadfast conservative and opponent of the Revolution, Balzac depicts this new social mobility as something that corrupted French Society. The Bourbon Restoration allowed for your wealth to be the main factor in what part of the social strata you belonged, not what family you were born into. The abolition of feudalism coupled with the emergence of capitalism in France furthermore allowed for people to more easily move up the social ladder. The social structure was a volatile one, people were making and losing money all the time and Balzac illuminates on how much people struggle to live lavishly. The fragile social structure was not liked by conservatives who were used to never having to worry about dropping out of the elite or people joining it. He illustrates the Parisian people as pitiless, selfish, and egocentric. Not only does he show that the Parisian elite were cold blooded people who only cared about money and ... • 39. Barnes And Noble Case Study Solution Barnes Noble was originally founded as a book printing company in 1873 in Wheaton, Illinois. In 1917, the company opened its first bookstore in New York City. However, in 1974, the company fell on hard times and was bought by Leonard Riggio. Barnes Noble eventually become the largest bookstore by 1996, offering discounted books. By the late 1990s, Barnes Noble was faced with a new challenge, the Internet; customers were able to order their books cheaper online and read them without going to a physical bookstore. This forced Barnes Noble to reevaluate its strategy and its future direction in order to stay competitive in the bookstore industry. Barnes Noble narrowed its problems down into two major issues. The first issue was whether or not the company should split its two business lines, having one line for digital and online business and the other serve as the more traditional brick and mortar stores. The company also needed to determine the best way to allocate its resources so that it could compete aggressively in the market. The second issue facing the company was whether it was well suited to make these necessary changes independently or if it would need some allies in order to achieve success. Because Barnes Noble was strictly a publisher and retailer, the company didn t have the knowledge or experience to independently build an e reader for the online market that could compete effectively; it needed to partner with another company that could build a ...
