1. THE GHOSTS OF MERCY MANOR

2. THE BEGINNING
• Gwen’s parents died 5 years ago.
• Now the great-aunt she was living with died.
• Gwen wants to live with her brother and his wife, but they send
her to live with a foster family instead.
• Gwen is determined to hate her new foster family
• She writes letters to her brother because she wants him to let
her live with him.

3. GHOSTS
• Gwen starts seeing ghosts in the house, which is called Mercy
Manor.
• The Mercys tell her that she must be dreaming.
• Dena Mercy gets very upset whenever Gwen says she saw
ghosts.
• Tessie, the Mercys’ daughter, sees the ghosts too.

4. HARD TIMES
• Gwen doesn’t know what to do about the ghost problem.
• One of the ghosts is called Rose. One day, Gwen notices that a
picture of Dena and Rose is missing from Dena’s picture album.
• Another thing she notices is that another picture is missing.
This picture is of Uncle Raymond and Allen.
• Gwen had seen a picture of Raymond and Allen in the
basement, and knew that Dena didn’t want it on the walls.

5. SCARY…
• Gwen later finds out that Uncle Raymond and Allen had
murdered Rose.
• Rose kept coming back as a ghost because she wanted
someone to know what had happened to her. Dena had been
told Rose ran away, not that she was murdered.
• Rose kept leaving paper roses to try to tell someone that she
was still there.

6. THE END
• When Jason and Gwen discovered Rose’s mystery, Dena
realized what had happened.
• The Mercys allow Gwen to continue living with them.
