5. There are three effective ways to plant potatoes.
1. Hilled Rows: Plow straight and shallow channels with a distance of
2ft from one another. Next is to plant seeds at least 1 foot apart.
No need for containers. This is the cheapest way and can be for massive
production. Make sure soil is of good quality.

6. 2. Straw Mulches: This has similar plant spacing as Hilled Rows technique.
The difference is you need to cover seed potatoes with at least 3in of
loose straw which must be free from seeds as well. This helps in
conserving the soil moisture.
There is no need for digging, it will yield lesser volume than the 1st technique and
infestation of field mice may occur.

7. 3. Raised Beds: Seed potatoes must be planted 1 foot apart.
This will produce better yields and this is the ideal way if you
have a low or poor quality of soil.

8. If you have limited lot space, there are groundless ways too.
1. Commercial Grow Bags: Put a mixture of soil and compost in the
base of the bag, plant at least 3 seeds and put 3 inches of earth.
Best used if you don’t have a quality soil. This method speeds up growth because
the dark color absorbs heat and it produces impressive crops.

9. 2. Black Garbage Bags: planting is
similar with commercial grow bags. A
maximum of 5 potatoes can be
planted. Too much heat will bring lesser
yield.
3. Wood Boxes: same principle of
planting as raised beds. It can be
placed on a patio.

Some potato varieties can be harvested after 3months. After such time, the
