1. How effective is the combination of your main
product and ancillary texts?
2.
3. The Products
As the single is called ‘She’s a Riot,’ we decided to
call the album ‘Wreaking Havoc,’ adopting the theme
of chaos throughout all three products.
In the music video, we portrayed the theme through
the locations, the excessive colour scheme, the
powder paint, mise en scene and fast editing pace.
In the Digipak, we did this through the use of colours
and hand drawn patterns.
In the Website, we did this by replicating the hand
drawn pattern and the slanting font.
4. Marketing of Circa Waves
Circa Waves are an Indie Pop band who released their
debut album last year. Their theme is based on their
album cover for ‘Young Chasers.’ The blue and white
colour scheme is unisex, appealing to both genders, as is
the theme of dreams and clouds. The bold font is
replicated throughout all of their products, creating unity.
5. The image of the band
epitomises the Indie style
with denim and leather
jackets, skinny jeans, messy
hair and grungy locations.
Their image helps them
appeal to a female audience
who would be attracted to
them and males who would
idolise them. The energy in
their music videos also
cements their target
audience as teenage – early
20s.
6. Marketing of Jungle Giants
Jungle Giants, similarly to Circa Waves have used the
unisex theme of light blue. The girl on the front of the
single for ‘She’s a Riot’ is young, with an Indie hair
style, appealing to a young target audience yet
again. The website also reflects the album cover in
many ways in order to promote it.
7. The young, loving
relationships the band
have on screen makes
them likeable to young,
fun loving friendship
groups all over the world.
The relatable
representations therefore
helps promote the band.
The female drummer
shows they’re a band of
equality, trying to appeal
to both sexes.
8. Digipak
The heavy focus on bright
colours and music is
central to the Digipak,
just like the music video.
The image of our band
therefore would appeal
to young party goers as
well as young
musicians.
The image of our feet covered in powder paint shows us to be reckless and
young, a factor that would excite a teenage target audience. The only
images of the band is the silhouettes in fancy dress. The comedy
elements of these images represents a likeable, laid back band,
encouraging people to buy the music and attend gigs.
9. Music Video
Similarly to what we want to
represent in the Digipak, we
made sure that the video
was a portrayal of a good
time. The chaotic theme was
evident in every location (the
party scene, the garden
setting and the powder
paint.) The energy put
across in the production is
what we want to appeal to
the teenage target audience.
10. I used the same font and logo from the Digipak at the
end of the Bloopers Video in order to promote the
single ‘Mr Polite’ which featured as a backing track to
the Bloopers from making the official ‘She’s a Riot’
video. Promotion videos are a great way to market the
bands up and coming singles and tour dates. They
mean YouTube and social media can be used instead
of just the website.
11. Website
To continue the theme of chaos, the
hand drawn pattern and eye logo
is something people can instantly
associate with the band and the
album, which is why we have used
it to create continuity throughout
the products. The background
templates of the website vary in
colour, so aren’t associated with
any particular gender, simply
young people.
12. Social Media is heavily promoted on the website as it is
a more direct way of fans getting information due to
not everyone always checking their favourite band
websites regularly. Itunes links similarly help promote
sales and the amount of fans. Heavy focus on Internet
based applications appeals to a young audience as it
is what they are interested in. Further more, we have a
personalised YouTube account, Google+ account and
Twitter page.

We have achieved synergy through the use of…
