SUBJECT: Memorandum of Appreciation (MCSI Event l-ll Training June 2016)
1. The purpose of this memorandum is to provide comments and feedback to the MCSI Team
Project Lead on the support provided to the 28th Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) during the
planning, coordination, and execution of the MCSI Event I & ll. Your team recently led and
facilitated MCSI Event l-ll for our brigade at Ft. Pickett, VA.
2. The command group, staff, and soldiers of the CAB would like to convey our appreciation for
your teams support. Your team conducted themselves with the upmost professionalism. Their
talent and expertise throughout the MCSI training reinforced their place as subject matter
experts. Their passion to provide the best possible training, motivated our soldiers and improved
our ability to stand up and effectively run a Command Post.
3. During the planning and coordination phase, Mr. Sam Tyre, utilizing the MCSI methodology,
played a vital role providing keen insight and support during all IDT lPRs for the Brigade staff.
He diligently answered all RFls and provided accurate direction. As we experienced multiple
challenges during Event l, yourteam remained extremely flexible, providing lessons learned and
worked to get our systems operational.
4. My main training objective was to set up and establish the Command Post, conduct '
Command Post lntegrated Training to all staff members and conduct the Command Post
lntegrated Exercise. Due to the efforts of your team, the results of meeting this objective
exceeded my expectations. The CAB made significant improvements in all components of
Mission Command.
5. Through my personal observations, the feedback from my statf and the AAR comments from
our soldiers, I am honored to recommend your team of professionals to other commands within
the Active, Guard, or Reserve Component. I absolutely see the MCSI Team's methodology and
delivery as a key enabler to any unit's ability to enhance their mission command capability.
