Hematology and Oncology at Valley
Children’s. Also Director of Hemophilia
Treatment Center at Valley Children’s as
well as Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at
UC San Francisco.
Latha Rao , M.D.
Following a fellowship in Detroit, Dr. Rao
joined Hematology Services at Valley
Children’s 2.5 years ago. Her primary
responsibilities include hematology services
for all diagnoses and treatment plans.

Terea Giannetta, DNP, C.P.N.P.
Chief NP at Valley Children’s and Associate
Professor at Fresno State. She has been
the CPNP in hematology for 25 years.
She has presented at local, state and
national meetings and has written articles
and textbook chapters on hematology
diagnoses.
Kelly Folmer , MSN, C.P.N.P.
CPNP in hematology for more than two
years with extensive experience in primary
care. Her special interest is in bleeding
disorders
Objectives
At the completion of the session the participant
will be able to:
• Describe the pathophysiology of hemophilia
A and B, von Willebrand disease and immune
thrombocytopenia.
• Discuss the treatment modalities for
bleeding disorders.
• Identify the complex social issues faced by
families with children diagnosed with
bleeding disorders.
