1. DO NOW Imagine you are a tv talk show host. Your show is about philosophy and the Stanford Prison experiment. Work with a partner to list five philosophical questions you might ask. (4 minutes)
7. DO NOW With a partner, chose three of the questions on the board and write an answer as if you were an expert on a talk show. Use philosophical language. Support your answers. (9 minutes.)
8. DO NOW SPEED ROUND Write down as many questions as you can think of that an audience might ask Philip Zimbardo about his Stanford Prison Experiment. (90 seconds) Winner gets a prize.
9. DO NOW With two partners, chose one of the questions you answered in the last DO NOW to write a dialogue about. You can be a talk show host, a guest, a prisoner, a guard, etc… Have each person speak at least three times. Use philosophical language. We will perform these when you are done writing them. (10 minutes)
10. DO NOW Count off by threes. Mrs. Robin will bring each group their task. You will have eight minutes to complete your task.
11. DO NOW Group 1: Support the idea that the prisoners were not free in the metaphysical sense. Write your answers on a small slip of paper.
12. DO NOW Group 2: Support the idea that the prisoners were free in the metaphysical sense. Write your answers on a small slip of paper.
13. DO NOW Group 3: Define these terms: free will, free action, determinism, incompatibilism, compatibilism, action theory (or agency theory) Write your answers on a small slip of paper.
14. DO NOW Give your papers to Mrs. Robin. Sorting activity using the board.
15. DO NOW Skim article. Take notes. Answer questions if you have time.
