1. The Knights of New Bridge
Dear New Bridge Parents,
March is flying by! We are super excitedto be
coming up on spring break! Spring break is March
28th
– April 4th
.
The students participated in a whole school
assembly on March 12.Theywere shown funny
skits, the first New Bridge music video, and a
dance off betweenthe male and female teachers
of the building. The males won this time.
The students and parents also participated in Math
& Literacy Night at the end of February. This open
house allowed parents to get a glimpse of what
the students are learning and participate in
activities in all grade levels. There were math and
reading activities, hot dogs, juice,and an
introduction to MobyMax for the parents.

[ACADEMICS]
This month the 3-6 grade students were
introduced to the new state tests. The third
graders only participated in the math. Theywill
continue to take the reading OAA this spring. The
4th
-6th
graders took the reading and math PARCC,
and the science/social studies AIR tests.
The whole building will be taking the NWEA test
at the endof April.
The 3-6th
grade students will take another
PARCC/AIR set at the end of April as well.
3rd
Grade Guarantee
Students must meet a minimum score on the
state reading test to move on to the fourth
grade. In 2014-2015, the minimum score is 394.
This score must be attained either in the Fall or
Spring administration of the state reading test.
If the student remains in the third grade, the
school must provide a high-performing reading
teacherand 90 minutes of reading instruction
eachschool day.
A student can still take fourth grade classes in all
other subjects, if the student is ready.
Schools can move students to the fourth grade in
the middle of the year if the student's reading
improves.
Report Cards
We are coming quickly to the end of the 3rd
quarter. The grading period endsMarch 20th
.
Report cards will go home on March24nd
.

New Bridge Teachers& Staff
[REMINDERS]
Check your child’s book bag every night for
homework or anything coming home from the
school. Read with your child or have them read to
you in English. Practice math problems at home.
Sign up at the library for a library card and
homework help. Please schedule an appointment
with your child’s teacher if you have any concerns
or would like to meetwith them.

THEWEEKS AHEAD
The 5th
grade students have been working on
a small economicproject – creating their own
business. Theywill open shop on March 17th
.
The school is invited to spend their Bridge
Bucks to support their project.
Before spring break, the 5th
& 6th
grade will be
taking a field trip to COSI, The science center
museum,in Downtown Columbus. This will
give them a chance to experience different
science topics first hand. The moneyto fund
the trip was by the teachersin the classroom.
