2. Spotify
• Spotify was used to embed songs from The Fergies onto the
website we made for them. Also as songs can be listened to
from around the world on Spotify, this helped us to market
more of The Fergies audience to an English audience. Our target
audience (11 -18) also corresponds well to Spotify as a lot of its
users fall within this age bracket. I also created a playlist for The
Fergies on my Spotify account which automatically published it
to all my followers on Spotify, many of which fall into our target
audience.
3. Prezi & G-mail
• Prezi was very useful in presenting our work, allowing slides to be
displayed creatively through being able to embed videos and songs
within it.
• G-mail allowed provided us with another way to keep in contact
with each another along with sharing work amongst the group
when through attaching files and sending them to the shared e-mail
account or uploading to G-drive. This was most useful when
completing group tasks like Digipack and website with it allowing us
to share incomplete work with each other for us to complete. G-
mail was also how we were able to communicate with our band as
well.
4. YouTube
• YouTube was an extremely great resource
allowing us to post videos to one of the
most popular websites online to an
international audience. This helped us to
generate popularity for The Fergies and
assisted in marketing them to an English
audience. Additionally it helped providing
us with the option of presenting our work
as videos such as video diaries and
generally allowing us to visualise our
work to a mass audience. Through the
video hosting site being so popular we
were also able to gain feedback on our
rough cut video that helped us to develop
it leading to the final music video.
5. Final Cut 7
• Final Cut Pro was the editing software that was used to edit the
music video, along with all other video forms we created during the
planning, production and evaluation stages like: director
commentaries and test footage. The software also had effects and
colour grading we utilised adding more quality and style to our
music video. The software was probably the most influential aspect
in constructing the video due to the amount of visual (colour
grading, effects) and audio (cutting parts of the track) aesthetics it
provided to the music video.
6. Photoshop
• Photoshop was very influential in helping to edit photos that we took
especially with the construction of The Digi-pack and editing of various
images. Additionally it helped a lot in creating the banner for the
website, and the re-creation of a previous album cover that I made in
the research stage. Also all background images that were photographed
and used in the digi-pack and website were all edited on Photoshop.
The program helped a lot in keeping consistency through colour
scheme, pattern and layout all throughout the digi-pack and website.
7. Facebook & Twitter
• Facebook and Twitter allowed us the opportunity for vast
communication with a lot of people that were also within our target
audience – this allowed us to market The Fergies to a large and
more selected audience of teenagers aged around 11- 18, with a lot
more larger audience. This was helped through all of us having
people within our target audience also within our friends lists –
helping us gain more specific feedback through both networking
sites. It also allowed us to communicate with each other and The
Fergies as we shared ideas on creating the whole campaign.
8. Blogger
• Blogger was essential in organising our work from various other
media sources, like YouTube and uploading all the work onto one
blog, allowing much easier access. The website also allowed us to
group certain tasks together, depending on what stage they were
part of: research & planning, construction, evaluation. Additionally
labels where used to easily show who had done what tasks. With
blogger being an international website this also showcases our
work to the world and shows the progress from the planning stage
to the construction and creation of the music video.
9. Sony HDV HVR-HD 1000p & Camera
Tapes
• The camera and tapes helped in giving the music video a more
professional look through the HD quality, enabling the video to be
able to be watched in up to 1080p HD. Without the high quality of
the camera and tapes – we would not have been able to perform
clear vivid shots. The camera also was relatively easy to hold as well
as use on a tripod, allowing us to perform more advanced skills with
it like panning and shallow focus.
10. Mobile Phones
• Phones were a great device, allowing all of us to keep in touch with
one another. Contact through phones were most vital during the
planning, shooting and post-production stages as we all
communicated our own ideas into creating and turning them into
the digi-pack, website and music video. As we all had smart phones
we were able to capture practise footage, helping to visualise our
ideas to see if they could work in the actual music video.
11. Wix
• Through Wix having a lot of default layouts and settings enabling
videos and images to be embedded on – it helped a lot in creating
the website. Through Wix’s flexibility with adding images and
backgrounds it generally helped in combining the website with the
music video and digi-pack.
