2. Genre Development
Where did this genre originate ?
- Created by a DJ known as DJ Clive ‘Cool Herc’ Campbell created Hip/Hop
in South Bronx in New York City 1970. Created from Ghetto or hood
parties. Songs like Silento Watch me whip and nae nae or The weekend
Hills. Eazy E was one the starters who’s well known still now.
How’s the genre evolved over time?
- Branching into blues rap heavy metal dubstep hip/hop consists in almost
every mainstream style of music as its style is very catchy.
3. Genre Development
How are Artists represented within this genre?
- Majority of artists within this genre are represented as sexual and drug
addicts with smoking legal and illegal substances. This is a bad
representation for young adults or young children to follow as it doesn’t
show them to give respect and turns society into a violent and drugged up
place. Not all artists within this genre are represented like this or betray
himself to the new modern day Hip-Hop style artists. Kendrick Lamar is a
great example of a respectful rap preacher explaining his stories within his
life and why education is the key etc. Kendrick is a perfect role model for
young people whereas artists like Miley cyrus and TYga are not great role
models because of all the activity they get up to.
4. Genre Development
What is Hip-Hop's Ideologies?
- Men are represented as extremely powerful and untouchable the more
money they have and the more they share or express they have money
the more women throw themselves at them. Woman are just Objects are
toys and they are only worth looking at if they have big breasts and bums
otherwise they are not in the eyes of these ‘Gods’. I believe the genre has
evolved into purely drugs and partying because previously in history that
was what they were about after parties smoking and drinking all the time
once you hit fame so modern day there's a lot more alcohol and drugs so
expressing and showing the representation of parties is a lot more easier
and alot more in people now than before.
