Nuclear power generates electricity through controlled nuclear reactions without emitting harmful gases that contribute to global warming. It has the disadvantages of high construction costs, potential thermal and radioactive pollution, and challenges dealing with nuclear waste. In Taiwan, four nuclear power plants have been built since 1970, with nuclear waste stored on Orchid Island despite risks of radiation leaks. France and Sweden also utilize nuclear energy as a source of power generation.
