3. Cuba has an okay poverty rate. At some points Cuba
can be very low in poverty but then they go backup to
high rates. They receive low housing and
transportation, free education, and healthcare and
food subsides. Cuba’s GDP has declined by 33%. But,
Cuba has been able to maintain healthcare and
education. The unemployment rate in Cuba is 1.6%.

4. •Cuban music is a picture of styles. It was influenced form Africa and
Spain, and has also been shaped by the music by Europe, Latin-
America, and American Pop music.
•Son: Popular dance music that originated in the Oriente province of
Cuba. The foundation of modern salsa, there are several hybrids of Son
including Son-montuno, Afro-son, and Guajira-son.
•Cha-cha-cha: This music is originally derivative of the donzonmambo.
The cha-cha-cha became a poplular style of its own. Some examples
are very traditional from Orquesta Aragon, and very modern by Klimax.
•Mambo: This is a dance style popularized in the 40’s and 50’s. The
Chachao sample written by Orestes Lopez was thought to be the first
Mambo.
•Mozambique: Cuban carnival music created by Pedro Izquierdo.
•Descarga: Translation-to unload. Descarga is the Cuban jam session.

5. Usually Cubans are influenced by the cultures of
Spanish, French, African and Arabic. The people
who usually cook the food don’t care about
measurement or the time of baking it. Mostly
the food is slow cooked over a flame. Most
Cuban dinner foods have very little deep fried
foods and topping with very little flavor. Many
dishes have the sofrito as there basis. Sofrito is
what gives the food its flavor. For breakfast
many entrees consist of tostada and café con
lecha. Tostado is a buttered toast and café con
leche is a combination of coffee and warm milk.
Mostly for lunch contain chicken and meat and
Cuban sandwiches. The most favored sandwich
is pan con bistec. The sandwich contains steak,
lettuce tomato, a baked potato skins. For most
holidays they will cook a pig whole and eat it.
6. Pitbull
Armando Christian Perez. You probably
know him as Pitbull. Pitbull was born
January 15, 1981. He is a Cuban-American
rapper, pop singer-songwriter, and record
producer. Pitbull’s first recorded
performance was with Lil Jon in the album
“Kings of Crunk” 2002. Later he released
his album “M.I.A.M.I” in 2004. And after
that he released two more albums under
the names of: ”El Marie”l in 2006 and “The
Boatlift” in 2007. He then later released
“Rebelution” in 2009, which included songs
“I Know You Want Me” and “Krazy” Ptibull
is still writing strong today, and is proud of
his Cuban heritage.
