THE MAIN IMAGE IS OF THE READY EYE (COULDN’T FIT ALL OF THE MAGAZINE INTO MY SCANNER). I THINK THAT THE MAIN COVER LINE OVERLAPS THE MAIN IMAGE BECAUSE OF THE BRIGHT YELLOW FONT USED. THIS IS WHAT PROBABLY CATCHES THE READERS EYES THE MOST AS IT STANDS OUT EXTREMELY WELL NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE COLOUR BUT OF THE BOLD CAPITAL FONT TOO, WHICH ARE PLACED RIGHT ACROSS THE PAGE. THE PULL QUOTE BELLOW THE MAIN COVER LINE GIVES AN INSIGHT TO THE READER OF WHAT THE ARTICLE IS GOING TO BE ABOUT. OTHER COVER LINES ARE ALSO WITTER IN BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS BUT IN SMALLER FONTS AS THEY ARE AS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS THE MAIN STORY. SOME OF THEM ARE IN YELLOW AND SOME OF THEM ARE IN WHITE. CHOSING TWO TO THREE COLOURS MAKE THE MAGAZINE LOOK MORE PROFESSIONAL. IN THIS CASE THOSE THREE COLOURS (BLACK,YELLOW,WHITE) HAVE BEEN CHOSEN VERY WELL AS THE WHITE STANDS OUT PERFECTLY AGAINST THE DARK MAIN IMAGE AND THE YELLOW STANDS OUT EXTREMELY WELL OVERLAPING ANY OTHER COLOUR. I THINK THAT HAVING MORE COVER LINES RATHER THAN JUST THE MAIN FEATURE ON THE COVER IS A GREAT SELLING TECHNIQUE AS IT OFFERS THE REAFERS MORE REASONS OF WHY TO BUY THE MAGAZINE. BUT SOMETIMES THIS TECHNIQUE CAN MAKE THE MAGAZINE LOOK TOO CRAMPED AND CHEAP. WHEN THE MAGAZINE HAS ‘’A LOT GOING ON’’ CAN MAKE THE READER LOOSE THE FOCUS ON THE MAIN STORY LINES.
3. Q MAGAZINE IS A MAGAZINE PUBLISHED MONTHLY. ITS TARGET AUDIENCE ARE OLDER AGE MUSIC LOVERS WHO HAVE A MORE MATURE TASTE. THE FRONT COVER IS OF DAVE GROHL WHO IS A PART OF A BAND CALLED FOO FIGHTERS. STRAIGHT AWAY YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THAT THE IMAGE HAS BEEN PHOTOSHOPED AS THE WHOLE IMAGE OF THE BAND HAS BEEN PLACED INSIDE DAVE’S MOUTH. I THINK THE MAIN IMAGE ITSELF DRAWS A LOT OF ATTENTION FROM THE READERS, AS IT IS VERY UNUSUAL AND THE BRIGHT FIRE IN THE MOUTH STAND OUTS FROM THE REST OF THE IMAGE, MAKING IT THE MAIN FOCUS POINT WHEN THE READERS LOOK AT THE FRONT COVER. TYPOGRAPHY OF THE MAGAZINE HAS A COLOUR SCHEME OF BLACK,WHITE,RED AND GOLD. ALL OF THE COLOURS WORK WELL TOGETHER AS NONE OF THEM STAND OUT EXTREMELY FROM THE COVER. THE COLOU GOLD REFLECTS THE TARGET AUDIENCE AS IT HAS CONNOTATIONS OF SUPERIORITY AND EXCELLENCE. THIS ALSO MAKES THE MAGAZINE LOOK EXPESIVE. THE MAIN COVER LINE IS SURPRISINGLY AT THE BOTTOM OF THE COVER, BUT IT STILL PERFECTLY STNADS OUT FROM THE REST OF THE COVER LINES AS A MUCH LARGER FONT IS USED AND THE WHITE COLOUR STANDS OUT WELL FROM THE DARK PART OF THE IMAGE.
4. KERRANG! A VERY BIG IMAGE OF THE BAND WHICH EVEN OVERLAPS THE MAST HEAD AND EVEN MAKES IT FADE AWAY. THIS SHOWS THE IMPORTANCE OF THE BAND IN THE MAGAZINE AND GIVES ALREADY AND INSIGHT VIEW TO THE READER OF WHAT THE MAIN ARTICLE IS ABOUT. THE MAGAZINE MAST HEAD IS ALL CRACKED WHICH COULD STRONGLY REPRESENT OF WHAT TYPE OF MUSIC THIS MAGAZINE IS FOCUSING ON. THIS COULD BE HEAVY METAL OR ROCK. SOMETHING LOUD AND STONG ENOUGH TO BREAK/CRACK THE GLASS IN A SIMILAR WAY THE MASTHEAD IS PRESENTED. PUFF LINE AT THE TOP OF THE MAGAZINE AND THE STRIP ACROSS THE BOTTOM OF THE COVER ARE TWO GREAT SELLING TECHNIQUES USED AS ONE OF THEM ADVERTISES THE COMPETITION TO WIN THE TICKETS TO THE KERRANG! AWARDS AND THE OTHER ONE IS A LIST OF OTHER BANDS WHICH ARE INCLUDED IN THE MAGAZINE. THIS SAVES UP SPACE AS NO COVER LINES ARE NEEDED. THIS ALSO HELPS TO KEEP THE WHOLE FOCUS POINT ON THE MAIN COVER LINE. THE BOLD CAPITAL COVER LINE IN GRAY FONT, IT STANDS OUT FROM THE DAR IMAGE, BUT I PERSONALY THINK THAT THE IMAGE ITSELF IS THE MAIN FOCUS POINT WHEN THE READER LOOKS AT THE COVER, BECAUSE OF THE BANDS OUTFIT AND MASKS. THEY SHOW THAT THE BAND HAS CHARACTER AND MAKE THEM STAND OUT EXTREMELY WELL AS THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU WOULD SEE EVERYDAY ON THE STREET. I PERSONALLY THINK THAT MULTIPOINTED STAR SHAPES MAKE THE MAGAZINE LOOK CHEAP AND 5IMAGES OF POSTERS MAKE IT VERY CRAMPED.
