Jesus Of Nazareth

By: Youssef Awad
Significance
Starting in around 30 AD talk of a man by the name of Jesus
began to spring through the Roman empire. Little was known
about the man, but there was one major characteristic. The
man by the name of Jesus declared himself as the Messiah
and son of God. Though only a small part of the
population, the Jewish people of the Roman Empire began to
follow this man instead of following Roman law. This flipped
the Roman Empire upside down.
Why Jesus Was Chosen
To many people of the world, Jesus is known as the son of God and is only
referred to when people are discussing religion. It is interesting to look at
Jesus from a historic point of view and see what impact he had on the
Empire in which he lived.
Early Life
Jesus was born into poor family and did not have much to begin with.
He was a boy under the rule of King Herod. Most of his early life is
known to man. He was born in Bethlehem from the “virgin” Mary and
from a man named Joseph. Jesus began to preach but did not yet
declare himself the Messiah.
Historical View
Under the rule of King Herod many seemed to be somewhat happy.
When the word spread to him that there was a baby that may have
been the Messiah, Herod reacted by ordering the all male babies were
to be killed. Little did the king know this would not help. When Jesus
grew up and began to declare himself as the Messiah, Roman rule was
flipped. It seems as though some very poor, skinny man was
attempting to challenge Roman rule. Once again the Romans reacted
by crucifying Jesus on the cross which is later referred to as Jesus
dying for our sins.

How He Effected His Own People.
Since the Old Testament, The Jews had been waiting for their
savior to come. Finally Jesus came but something interesting
occurred. Many Jewish people resented Jesus. They though that
there was no way this man that came from poor family could
have been the Son of God. The only People that really believed
him were the Apostles. That is just one more thing that Jesus
had to deal with.

Achievements
First of all, we all know Jesus died for our sins. He did in fact have other
achievements though. Jesus was the first single human being to challenge
Roman power. This in itself was a huge feat. No one dared to go against
the Romans. Why did Jesus do this you may ask? Well remember he had
nothing to be scared about. God was on his side.
