Silicon Valley and The Search For Immortality—
The Future Of Healthcare
Digital Pills, Sensors, and Big Data
Success of healthcare will depend on the quality and quality of usable data.
Digital pills and sensors in your body will communicate with portable heath
device and your mobile phone to collect critical health data from your body.
Data Will Make You Live Longer—#HealthTech
Your wearable or smart phone will alert you in case if you need to act—and
your health care center and doctor will get automatically notified
Doctors, hospitals & machines will be on the same page, accessing the right
information—and all that will save lives, and you will live longer.
3D Printed Drugs & Organs
3D printing is going to transform medicine and how healthcare is delivered,
from pills to hearing aids to human tissues and organs -all can be printed
using 3D-printer
Polypills, pills containing multiple drugs has been successfully printed.
People would be able to have medicine tailored to their age,
size, gender and medical requirements, rather than having
to conform to current mass-production standards
says Lucy Ackland, senior development engineer at the Institution of
Engineering and Technology.
Using multiple 3D printing tools, medical scientists at Princeton University
have created a functional ear that can “hear” radio frequencies far beyond the
range of normal human capability.
In August 2015, SPRITAM (levetiracetam) drug became the first 3D printed
medicine to receive FDA approval.
Patient Experience / Personalized Treatment
From general healthcare to personal healthcare
Technology is making the concepts of health and health care moving towards
the idea of personalized preventive health maintenance and away from an
exclusive focus on the cure of disease
This include
the empowerment of the individual,•
of any age,
to self-monitor
and self-manage health and wellness,
and conditions of higher risk and existing diagnosis,
and further, to start doing this today
with applications and tools
that are already available in today’s digital world
Example: GALE: 21st Century First aid kit—which transforms home
healthcare
Lab on a Chip
The ability to perform multiple laboratory operations on small scales using
miniaturized (lab-on-a-chip) devices has many benefits
UCLA uses lab-on-a-chip technology to predict how hazardous engineered
nanomaterials might be. It could also be used to identify biological

biomarkers that will help medical scientists and doctors detect cancer and
other infectious diseases
According to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc. Global biochips
anticipated market to reach USD 25.84 billion by 2024—and DNA chips is
the largest revenue-generating segment of the biochip applications available
HealthTech—Health Technology
While technology is working on augmenting human capabilities and nanobots
are still not fully operational- but we have enough technology in today’s
healthcare like:-
Digital literacy channels for medical information curated by healthcare
professionals
Smart watches and wearables that collect and enable real-time analysis
of health information
3D printed drugs and human organs
Telemedicine and robotics intervened surgeries

2050, there will be a “mental revolution.” We’ll have effective, safe treatments
for at least 10 neurodegenerative disorders. And if we’re lucky,
humans will have some telepathic communication capabilities.
Currently one medical test leads to another, and then another, leading to
medical overtreatment. There are hardly any benefits to patients about minor
and very low-risk findings—and all that comes with financial and
physiological impacts. Growing number of incidentals findings leads to over-
treatment
Overused medical services are already costing billions of dollars, and may be
medical overtreatment is making us sicker, but futurist Kurzweil says that
humans will be immortal by 2030
Data will make you live longer. “Curing Death” and “Reversing Aging” could
be Google’s next milestones in the search for immortality. #HealthTech

A Journey From Information Overload to Digital
Overload to Algorithm Overload
Information Overload
Back in 1945, Vannevar Bush was already feeling the threat of “Information
Overload”
Vannevar Bush was inventor and science administrator during World War II -
heading all wartime military R&D. He was concerned that information
overload might inhibit the research efforts of scientists.
ast forward few decades, monumental progress in the field of
computation and internet made us always-on and we were multi-tasking
like never before
Then we started complaining about the loss of productivity and creativity.
ew solutions to “Death by Information Overload” came—like self-
discipline, task prioritization .
F
F
People were always expecting more information, and decisions were delayed
while waiting. Every 3 minutes people were switching tasks.
Information Overload or Filter Failure
Clay Shirky, a New York University new-media professor said “It’s not
information overload. It’s filter failure”. More likely people have fear that
they might miss something and ready everything that comes on the screen,
even it is totally unrelated—or they keep looking for information that
matches their mood.
don’t need to read everything and watch all videos, you just can’t
complete—so create intelligent filters -use tools and alerts
Instead of you searching all the web let the content nd you
There are just two things missing from this new ecology of media distribution:
first, we need a way to share those signals of interest and context with publishers
—with privacy well-protected—so publishers can build relationships with and
better serve users. Second, we need the means to reward not just content-creators
but also audience-creators, to motivate them to build these new means of bringing
people to what interests them.
Digital Overload
Then came “Digital Overload”.
many online platforms, always multi-tasking, compelled to fill idle
time with hyper-linked lives, filled with digital distraction
those beeps and notification sounds
and the feeling what if you missed something.
you check your inbox and then click on some video because the headline
was so tempting.
Every company out there is desperate to grab our attention
“We have been seduced by distraction,” says psychologist Daniel Goleman, the
author of Focus: the Hidden Driver of Excellence. “We are being pulled away
from paying attention to the things that enrich our lives.”

Some solution to Digital Overload—prioritize stuff, schedule your email
check, don’t take your smartphone to the bed.
echnology has become an essential part of today’s lifestyle, you can’t avoid
it -but you don’t need to become slaves of technology. Learn new tools and
apps that organize all incoming information.
We all understand that every business is a digital business but you as an
individual are unique, and you deserve real-life experiences -to have an
enriched full-filling life
Algorithm Overload
Technology media is shouting that algorithms will soon rule our lives and we
better understand it well.
Algorithms, driven by vast troves of data, are the new power brokers in society
In the #AlgorithmEconomy, Algorithms will
transform insurance
predict at birth if a person will be a criminal
help judges in Sentencing

determine if people are lying to you in emails
transform talent acquisition
help to crunch data on customer preferences and increase sales
capture crime
audience targeting
he problem is -there are too much of redundancies, How one is different
from another? We don’t know.
What we know is that algorithms are shaping our experiences of the real
world.
oon algorithms will be everywhere -in education, politics, healthcare ,
finance, cultural and social systems, but we don’t know
How is it done?
What standards are maintained?
What is visible and what is not?
How data is classified and what logic applies to various decisions and
actions taken.
hat will you do if algorithms are wrong? Who do you blame? Who
to sue?
Don’t forget -Algorithms represent the coders’ value—and usually it’s only
about maximising profits
Can an algorithm run the US government? May be, in the next few
decades.
But those will not be transparent—the ghost in the machine.
Will there be a “manual override”? No.

othing comes easy. Stephen Hawking warns artificial intelligence could
end mankind
Stephen Hawking once said “Success in creating AI would be the biggest event
in human history”
Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft also agree that “Humans should be worried
about the threat posed by artificial Intelligence”
First the machines will do a lot of jobs for us and not be super intelligent. That
should be positive if we manage it well. A few decades after that though the
intelligence is strong enough to be a concern
The SpaceX and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk described AI as our ‘biggest existential
threat’ and likened its development as ‘summoning the demon.’

Dealing with Data Democracy and Data
Diplomacy in this Age of Data Economy
Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Inventor of World Wide Web, once said:
Data Is A Precious Thing And Will Last Longer Than The
Systems Themselves
Data has been always there, but now it’s real-time, faster and coming from
everywhere, getting easier to analyzes, correlate and visualize; and all this
can be used to transform and innovate current economic and business
frameworks. So much so that today we are standing at the intersection of
data, human rights, and our future; all governments and policymakers are
equally confused about how to handle data-driven interventions? We know all
this is useful to predict, automate and execute many actions and decisions;
but all this is prone to error and what if we move away from the human
context, may be one step away at a time and in coming time humanity
becomes dependent on the autonomous system for all decision making. New
technologies are allowing us to embed decision-making in the design of
autonomous system built on various new and disruptive big data and social
technologies.
Who is going to measure and control the quality and source of data that will
influence our evolving human race? How policymakers will come up with
data laws and policies. Will they make their algorithms accountable for what
decisions and actions they initiate based on some data coming from their
drones positioned at sensitive geographic locations. How all that data is
collected, stored, secured, transferred and shared?
We may solve many problems with data-driven economy but expect more and
more victims of data abuse in cases where direct beneficiaries forget to
implement local and sensitive contexts to the autonomous supply of decisions
taken by technologies
Data is becoming the global heartbeat of digital society, and always-on
smartphone and other devices enable citizens to report on emerging events,
stream ground reports as events unfold, at the same time social platforms
have become one of the primary organizing tools for any mass events.
Recently only V-Dem Institute released a new “Varieties of Democracy”
dataset. It provides about 15 million data points on democracy, including 39
democracy-related indices
What is Data Democracy?
Without the need to understand complex technology, all should be able to
use, create, model, share and correlate open data for their personal, business
and government purpose.
Why is Data Democracy important? Data is everywhere, and now real-time
social data enables feedback loop to your business framework, and there are
insights and hidden messages that you want to visualize and use them to your
benefits, be it feedback from market or missing feature in your product or
creating wider sales funnel
Earlier data analytics tools were used by large organizations but now they are
available to everybody. These tools are very interactive as well as intuitive; so
you don’t have to be a data scientist to use these tools. Data literacy of 21st
century has enabled everybody to use raw and open data to their benefits, be
it better decision-making power or create new innovative features and
products for new evolving markets. This constant shift is empowering all
people to make better-informed decisions by leveraging the power of data.
What is Data Diplomacy?
What is Data Diplomacy?
Data is not just for businesses and enterprises, many government policies are
becoming more and more dependent on data, and they are coming up with
data-driven policies and that calls for the strong need for the role of
diplomacy so that we can define how data will be shared and accessed among
nations and organizations. Data abuse can harm individuals, governments,
and organizations. Think of data that is very critical to confidence-building
between two nations getting compromised or leaked and used by any other
nation. There is big role that Data Diplomacy has to play so that social and
political relationship between two nations or organizations can be maintained
for the benefits of all
What is Data Economy?
Data is an asset today that generates hundreds of billions of dollars for the
economy, but still there is not enough clarity and maturity on how this data
will be used for benefits of mankind while protecting citizen’s personal data.
On the other side of it, there are start-ups putting a value on the personal data
economy. While is good that in the open data world , there will be less data
dictatorship and this will allow more data-driven decision making even
beyond organization or nation’s boundaries
Data is like raw resource like oil, and growing very fast. A lot of added value
can be created if use data creatively and provide a sustainable data value
chain for a healthy data economy. This will benefits governments, businesses,
individuals, and technologists to become a part of single self-sustainable data
value chain

What do you think of the future of Data Marketplace?
How about services like Data as a Product?
What about policies and legal frameworks to acquire or sell data?

How To Learn Di cult Subjects?—First, Learn
How To Learn?
My technology career is a little less than two decades old now and I was self-
compelled to learn something new. It would have been easy for me to learn
and get few certifications in IT infrastructure, cloud or project management,
but I was totally consumed by the potential transformation that Machine
Learning can bring to almost everything; from business to humanity. That
made me learn Machine Learning and i also stated that in my earlier blog Why
I am learning Machine Learning?
I don’t have any background in data science or statistics so it wasn’t an easy
task for me, and later it became an exponential learning for me.
If you search Forbes on Google it tells you that -Forbes is a business magazine
that features original articles on finance, industry, investing, and marketing
topics. Forbes also reports on related subjects such as technology,
communications, science, and law. Forbes is capturing subjects like AI,
Machine Learning, Deep Learning and NLP etc These subjects are highly
visible and gaining attention.
But How To Learn Di cult Subjects?
Learn How To Learn?
Learning is not a complicated concept. But, how one learns? is very important
here -because everyone is unique and learns in their own way. Learning
approach and learning medium is also important
Buy a real paper book “How to use chopsticks?” and learn how to use
chopsticks and see yourself struggling Vs. Watch a few youtube videos and
practice it at the same time—I bet you will learn it in a few days if you
practice for 30 minutes each day.
Based on the subject, learner and medium chose carefully how you want to
learn out of visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic
How To Learn Di erent Di cult Subjects?
Start with scanning the titles and illustrations. Watch 5-minute videos on
youtube. Search the subject on social media channels. Create google
alerts around it. Track influencers for those subjects. Scan through any
infographics that you find on google images.
Now you should be able to create a conceptual image in your mind using
all those pieces of information. You should be able to observe some
patterns and interrelations with your existing knowledge around similar
subjects.
Don’t try to solve problems yet. Try to practice what you know. If you
don’t understand the meaning of long code given to you. Try running it.
See what is does? And how it does? Try to make sense out of the output
on your screen. Let the information sink in and try again what you read
earlier with some analogy
Don’t do marathon session. Practice small stuff every day until you see
that this new knowledge is sticking to you and you can answer few
questions or guestimate what different options could be to solve a quiz
If you still find the subject to be very complex. Learn from some other source.
Get some real-world feedback. Identify only key concepts and memorize.
Learn from examples and analogies. Do a debate or FAQs

How Machine Learning Can Transform IT
Services?
What is Digital Labor?
You can’t ignore—Technologies like Cloud computing, Internet of Things, Big
Data, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are creating a new kind of
labor system; called Digital Labor
With cognitive platforms available now, it is feasible for the machine to learn
and understand the meaning of what’s going around. Every industry is
disrupted by these emerging technologies, and more and more companies are
experimenting with cognitive computing and automation platforms
There is no doubt that this is another industrial revolution. Many tasks we
perform today will be taken up by Digital Labor.
How Machine Learning Can Transform IT
How Machine Learning Can Transform IT
Services?
Machine Learning can significantly transform IT services, but have some
objectives before you hit the road -as Machine Learning is not some magic you
apply and get benefits out of it.
Collect, analyze and predict information across the network, and use
information to predict IT lag.
Reduce SLA violations by assigning tickets to SMEs who have handled
similar tickets
Contextualize multiple issues and make most relevant operation staff see
a list root causes and impacts and auto-initiate a virtual war room
Use ticket text classification to create a model and use sample to further
train the model
Predict IT service delivery cost by predicting volume change and
activities efforts
Balance resources, work flexibility and IT service performance
Knowledge article can be saved automatically
Make IT team to focus on workflow rather than individual alerts
Automated analysis of security data, understanding user behavior, giving
them risk score and step-up their authentication based on sudden change
in their behavior
Gartner says,
It’s time to take advantage of these technologies at the IT service desk to support
the proactive, personal and dynamic needs of the digital workplace.
How Machine Learning Complements Your
Current IT Tools?
Machine learning techniques can complement your current monitoring tools,
providing root-cause analysis and real-time detection of any anomaly.

The volume of IT telemetry (events, alerts, traps, messages) can be huge and
overwhelming. With the assistance of machine learning, however, your IT
production operations staff can make immediate sense of the potentially
thousands of events generated across the environment. The ability to quickly
see the signal from the noise, as well as to understand how the events are all
related to a couple of situations, is known as IT situational awareness—
something that all IT teams are looking to improve upon. Source
Example 1:
Service Desk tools like Zendesk, Desk.com uses machine learning and
semantic analysis to automatically tag incoming tickets so that you can deal
with similar tickets in badges
Zendesk is one of the first customer service platforms implementing machine
learning to natively auto-respond to customer tickets with relevant knowledge
base articles, helping solve and deflect customer inquiries before they ever
reach an agent.
Example 2:
Atlassian introduced smart graph to their JIRA Service Desk, a hybrid
algorithm that combines keyword search and machine learning to provide
better search results.
Smart graph does away with playing the guessing game. By optimizing real
interactions and machine learning to translate between IT forms and common
lingo—your customers are happy campers
But, Don’t Forget These:
Performance of such tools varies based on the machine learning algorithms
used, ranking methods, quality of datasets and training models
Have some goals before you implement Machine Learning tools in your IT
operations.

How Machine Learning Is Changing Everything?
Just this weekend i submitted my week 3 assignment for the Stanford
University ‘s Machine Learning course that i enrolled at Coursera. It wasn’t
easy for me as i don’t have any strong background in data science or
programming—but Andrew Ng made it very simple.
Recently i wrote about How Machine Learning is used in IT Services? and
since then this subject consumed my interest
There are many influencing factors that made me learn Machine Learning
concepts and if you continue reading this article—i am sure you would agree.
Machine Learning Will Change Everything.
But How?
John Giannandrea, Vice President of Engineering of the search engine, Says
The machine learning systems will lead to a transformation
in everything from medical diagnosis to driving cars.
Although the machine learning will not replace humans,
will change humanity
How Machine Learning Is Changing
Economics?
Large scale data that we use in economics will generate new interesting
facts about the market, product, and consumer. There will be new
connections and new dots—will give rise to new models and theories.
How Machine Learning Is Changing Humanity?
Use data to tell the future. Data will make us live longer. Finding patterns
and making predictions. Algorithms that take data and improve
themselves to better interact with that data. This way Machine Learning
will change the world we live in by understanding humans
How Machine Learning Is Changing
Everything Else?
What You Eat: Making farms more efficient and food tastier. Should we
say Digital Agriculture?
Personal Assistance: Your phone will use Machine Learning and
become your personal assistance—will learn from your habits and save
you time and efforts
Corporates: Proving much stronger basis to forecast. How you run your
business? Competitive advantage, market performance
Insurance: Monitor for frauds or irregular activity on credit cards to
improve compliance, cost structure, and competitiveness
Marketing: Product for one, Marketing for One. One-on-One marketing.
The better machine knows your consumer the more value you can add.
Hyper-personalized chat-bots tailored for consumer personality to create

Robots Are Not The Problem, Humans Are
Doctors, teachers, coders, pets, and CEOs, all will be replaced by robots.
What’s so bad about that?
A Case of Free Will:
When robots do all the work you can enjoy and play, be more creative and
create more value out of your life. You don’t need to stop working. If all our
food, shelter, utilities and health services are met somehow without going to
the office 5 days a week; what would you do? What would you do if all your
work can be done by automation?
Eric Hoffer, once said:
Unless a man has talents to make something of himself,
freedom is an irksome burden
You have sold your freedom to work, and became slaves of technology, and
now the same technology is giving you that freedom back, what would you
do? Most people want to go to work and are highly miserable when they
cannot. If you can’t make anything out of your life, you need a routine, a daily
dose of someone else’s purpose, or imitate others and worry about all jobs
going to robots.
History of Labor Automation:
Around 200 years ago, over 80% of the employable population in the US was
in agricultural work, and now that number has been reduced to well under
5%. Technology has replaced jobs, and did everything faster and much more
efficiently than humans, reduced most of the drudgery and danger of manual
labor. Back then those farmers were not knowing that in 2016 humans will be
building robots, writing code, driving trucks and engineering rocket science.
Do you think all those farmers went unemployed?
Do you think all those farmers went unemployed?
Technology is created to serve humanity in a better way, and not to make sure
that people keep their jobs. We should not pause on making technological
progress just because we are afraid that someone might lose their job.
Jobs were never secure anyway.
Current State of Automation:
AI and machine learning are more than robotics. They are starting to
encroach on that fundamental capability that sets us apart as a species, our
the ability to think and learn
Use this tool to see if Your Job Be Done By A Machine?
Some examples can be seen below
What Can You (and Policy Makers) Do?
With more time, and having freed more minds to ponder, play, and invent
than ever before, technology is going to serve us much better. Economist,
policy makers, and entrepreneurs are suggesting some solutions that can be
tried
Universal Basic Income (UBI)
Negative Income Tax
Start Your Own Company (You’re on Your Own )
Be A Part Of Gig Economy
Invest In The Right Education (Creative, soft skills, critical thinking, self-
learning)
What About Economy, Capitalism?
If we don’t do anything we can’t estimate what emergent factors will
materialize over a period of time? Robots can do anything by itself and in a
matter of 2 decades, it will learn every possible thing on this planet
All this automation is just another way for those who have capital to generate
more capital, they can use or abuse that power. As these new disruptive
technologies are developed people should see it coming and adjust their
approaches to things.
If machines produce everything we need, the outcome will
depend on how things are distributed. Everyone can enjoy a
life of luxurious leisure if the machine-produced wealth is
shared, or most people can end up miserably poor if the
machine-owners successfully lobby against wealth
redistribution. So far, the trend seems to be toward the
second option, with technology driving ever-increasing
inequality. ~ Stephen Hawking
Will automation lead to economy collapse? How much longer can capitalism
last if we achieve 100 percent automation? These are very relevant questions.
Those who predict, adapt, and act, will thrive. Those who resist, won’t.

Work is Worship Won’t Be True For Us -So Let
Robots Be Puri ed
Everything that can be automated will be, so should you be afraid every time
you read some article shouting “Robots will take over our jobs”, “20 careers
headed for the dustbin in next 10 years” or “Your job may soon be obsolete”?
What is the message here?
What is changing?
If you look at the growth of urbanization and technology it’s very clear that
the job market in 2050 will be very different than the one we see today.
Organizations will be recruiting workforce from a global pool of freelancers
instead of traditional, full-time employees. Same organizations will have
reduced the number of layers of management they have now, moving toward
a flatter, more grid-like organization structure.
The sharing economy is becoming a common marketplace; will become a part
of future capitalism. The freelance economy is rising; Entrepreneurship is
rising; Gig economy is rising.
Are you afraid if I tell you that you will work as long as you are capable? But
the good news is that in 2050—the world will be seven times richer than it is
today, world population could be over 9 billion and average wealth will also
have increased dramatically. A company that has 50,000 employees today
might have only 5,000 in 2050 while producing the same volume of food,
goods, or services.
Why this change?
New technologies that are speedily enabling workplace innovations such as
remote working, co-working spaces and virtual collaboration using virtual
reality and augmented reality. Future organizations are likely to have an ever-
smaller pool of core full-time employees for fixed-type functions, backed up by
colleagues across the globe and external consultants and contractors for
specific project related work.
Where is the problem?
Future technologies will be able to replace much of human labor. The
concentration of wealth will increase because Return on Investment in capital
and technology is usually better than labor. So expect higher unemployment.
Experienced and aged people will have more employment as they will resist
re-skilling and will be slow to adopt. There will be Blended Workforce: You
will work along with robots; they will be our co-workers, and they won’t do
mistakes
The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who
cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn,
unlearn, and relearn. -Alvin To er
What is good?
Synergies among AI, robotics, nanotech, synthetic biology, and quantum
computing could create more jobs than they eliminate?
There will be also jobs that didn’t exist before. Other yet to come
technologies could create more jobs than they replace.
There will many mega-projects solving global issues and you will get an
opportunity to connect and work for that.
Headquarters will be dissolved.
What is best?
We might be freed from the necessity of working to make a living

How Technology Will De ne The Future of Food
What Are The Issues With Current Global Food System?
By 2050, we will need 30% more food and 40% more water compared to what
we have today, and global food system is already failing.
Traditional agriculture takes a lot of water and in developing countries it is
worse than that; there are no efficiencies in place. Flood, heat waves and local
political issues add up more issues.
There are not many options to look forward to, and only some of the recent
technological innovations are looking promising to end the future world
hunger
How Technology Will Solve World Food Problem?
Considering the fact that agricultural and food industry involve a wide range
of companies from big machines to medicines to packaging; that need various
resources. Two new technologies have entered into this value chain:
AgTech: Agricultural Technology
FoodTech: Food Technology
Investments in agriculture technology startups surged to a record $4.6 billion
in 2015 despite a steep drop in U.S. farm income and slumping profit.
Food Tech could have started with NASA when they took culinary art to new
heights in orbit out of this earth.
Vertical Farming
This will allow growing crops in the urban environment; anywhere on the top
of the building, in the car park, on walls. Green Sense Farms were able to
harvest 26 times a year using 85% less energy than traditional methods.
How Technology Will Change What We Eat?
Lab-Grown Meat:
May not sound appetizing at all, but that may change our world and what we
eat in the future?
“It consisted of protein, muscle fibre. But meat is much more than that it is blood,
its fat its connective tissue, all of which adds to the taste and texture”
•
•
Duch Reasearcher and Inventor of Lab Grown Meant, Mr Verstrate told BBC
3D Food Printer:
3D printing has been around for a while and not its there in your kitchen too.
Luxury dining or not, but very much environment-friendly. A real
combination of art, food and technology. You should track the availability of
Foodini, a 3D food printer.
Pizza, confectionary items, pasta and what not. Go on and print your own
design and size. You need to wait before 3D food printers invade our gourmet
universe.
Micro Livestock:
Crickets, grasshoppers, worms will take over ahead of global meat
community. And, compared with cows and other large livestock, insects raised
on an industrial scale require far less land and water and emit less heat-
trapping gas
But you don’t’ have to be scared of all this because in the commercial message
they will put all this insect thing in the background and the great and juicy
product in the foreground
Meat From The Sewage Mud:
Never underestimate the power of poo. Japanese Scientists Create Meat From
Poop. Believe it? no. Nobody knows as the story is not convincing enough as of
now. Media is still hoping that the inventor of poop burger will get back with
some more information. If this thing comes true you will need to stand in the
line to buy sewage mud. Well, you can always take some from your toilets if
your plumber can handle such requirements.
Nobody will stop you if you get creative enough and attach a 3D Food Printer
to the device that creates meat out of sewage mud.
Livin Insects Farms At Your Desktop:
You will be raising insects at home and cooking delicious and high protein
meals, you don’t need to understand agriculture and food value chain system.
Well, for some, growing insects at home could be the first measure to make
insects a healthy and sustainable food for everyone
Cricket flour provides an environmentally friendly and sustainable source of
protein and nutrition. Do you think current protein bars will be replaced by
cricket flour bars?

In The Future, You Won’t Own Anything, No
Car, No Home
Large amount of natural resources are used to manufacture a car, house or
any consumer product.
We are now running out of those resources.
“As-a-Service” platforms has great promises to offer
In the coming years the “As-a-Service” model will revolutionize a few areas of
our lives like housing, travel and communications
Why We Will Lose Car Ownership?
Connected car market is growing, and highest in United States.
A study by industry data and consulting firm IHS predicts that,
by 2050, nearly all road vehicles will be of the self-driving variety.
Driver-less cars will change car ownership. These cars run on million lines of
code, any standard for writing such code?
Call it ghost in a machine or black box. There is too much of data coming out
from hundreds of sensors, getting analyzed and processed, software will take
decisions, including decisions about life and death.
Whoever owns the data, maps and software will own the car.
Why Losing Car Ownership Is Good?
#1—Increased Car Utilization -Longer Sustainability
The utilization rate of automobiles in the U.S. is 5%. In the new model, you
don’t pay for the car. You pay for the miles.
“Beyond the practical benefits, autonomous cars could contribute $1.3 trillion in
annual savings to the U.S. economy alone,” says Ravi Shanker, of Morgan Stanley
The average European car currently spends 95% of the time parked.
#2—Reduced Trip Overlap
Other large benefit of autonomous vehicle is to reduce “trip overlap” for times
during the day when more than one driver needs a vehicle
A self-driving vehicle could, for example, bring one spouse to work early in
the morning, then return home on its own to pick up the other in order to
make a separate run to a different workplace, drop off kids at school, help run
errands, etc., before retrieving that original drop off at the end of the work
day.
#3—Over-the-Air updates
To constantly improve safety and reliability , these cars will get over-the-air
updates from the maker using the internet connectivity
#4—Reduced House Price
When it comes to buying a house, there’s no such thing as free parking—but
what is the premium for each additional car space? Parking rules has a lot to
say.
#5—Money Saved
Research firm ARK Invest concludes that the cost of operating a shared
autonomous vehicle fleet could be as low as $.35 per mile, less than 1/10th as
much as the cost of traditional taxis, and about half of owning a car.
Living-as-a-Service & Co-Living : Reasons Why
Millennials don’t Want To Own A Home
In the new future we will value experiences over possessions.
Generation Y is choosing to do away with belongings and hassles that come
with every new house.
What is preferred today:—Living with other like minded young professionals
keen to connect, collaborate and socialize
It is a model of a micro-society with private space and common services
Shared living spaces are booming in major cities as young people seek a more
sociable lifestyle, according to the entrepreneurs behind the “co-living”
accommodation trend
More ever, Home price growth is exceeding growth in wages—but demand is
still increasing

Blockchain For India? Yes or No, Yes But When?
Blockchain has been around and gaining momentum around the world, but in
India, it is only known to the technology people and industry that is going to
benefit out of this technology isn’t talking much about Blockchain in India.
Infosys’ EdgeVerve System is already in the initial talks to discuss with the
banks to use Blockchain technology.
Are we expecting that a land transaction will be done in hours instead of days
or weeks; only time will come, but Blockchain will save a lot of money for the
banks and bring higher efficiencies in the system and eventually end
customers will benefits.
Currently, in India, there is no law to buy or sell Bitcoin. Indian industry
leaders, policy makers, regulators and experts have been meeting over this
agenda; but nothing came up as of now.
ZebPay has an application platform for Bitcoin, and Goenka of ZebPay says
“This is the internet of money. China does Rs 10,000–20,000 crore worth of
bitcoin trade a day. There’s no reason why we (India) should be different,” I
am not sure about the user base for this app and how many transactions have
been in place.
Cognizant, Wipro, TCS and Infosys all are now working on FinTech and
considering Blockchain technology.
In India, the laws are yet to catch up on how to deal with this technology
disruption; but the popularity of Bitcoin and Blockchain has certainly
increased.

India IOT ( Internet of Things ) Updates—
Q1 2016
It’s been more than six months now when I first wrote about India’s IoT
market and unmissable growth opportunities that IoT can provide. Based on
the most recent information from NASSCOM this emerging sector could be
worth $300 billion by 2020, and India is targeting 20% of market share in IoT.
Here are some IoT ( Internet of Things ) related updates for Q1 2016
Andhra Pradesh as IoT Hub by 2020:
This will attract hundreds of IoT companies and create 50,000 direct
employment within the state of Andhra Pradesh
Under the policy, the state government would also endeavour to set up IoT centres
of excellence and create an innovation fund. Incentives, both financial and non-
financial, would be extended to eligible companies and would be granted by the
Consultative Committee of IT Industry,
Source: IndiaTimes
Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT)—Industry 4.0
India must lead and earn benefits from Industry 4.0 which is the fourth
industrial revolution. With 3D printing, robotics and advanced
manufacturing, India can establish its power again with the use of these
technological innovations of future. The adoption of Industry 4.0 will be
almost an inevitable necessity for the Indian economy.
Within APAC, China would be the largest market share for IIoT, whereas India
is expected to grow at the highest growth rate among all the major markets.
IOT to reduce cost and increase food safety for Domino’s
Pizza and Dunkin’ Donuts
Wipro announced a five-year partnership with Jubilant FoodWorks Limited,
master franchisee for Domino’s Pizza and Dunkin’ Donuts in India to deliver
energy management services and help reduce its energy and operational
costs.
Wipro to include analytics and IoT technologies to improve various aspects of
food safety and guest experience in order to reduce overall maintenance costs
and help in maintaining their market leadership position in the Quick Service
Restaurant (QSR) market in India.
Bridging the gap between Urban and Rural India
IOT technology enables relevant information and updates to be made
available in local languages. This technology can also be leveraged to provide
high-quality remote education in high schools across the rural country.
Oracle India managing director Shailender Kumar said
“It is a surefire way of channeling the benefits of a digital economy to the largest
part of the country. IoT will enable delivery of education, health, governance and
financial services to otherwise underserved areas,”
IoT Security Issues
Do you really want a connected TV with voice recognition in your living room
even your TV records/hears your private conversations?
According to Proofpoint, more than 25 percent of the botnet was made up of
devices other than computers, including smart TVs, baby monitors and other
household appliances
Security concerns vary from geography to geography and individual to
individual. In India, among IoT device owners, losing passwords and debit
card information are the biggest fears and losing health information and
browsers history is not that much of an issue.
Chairman of NASSCOM, BVR Mohan Reddy, called upon Telangana to
establish institutes of excellence for IT sector and said
“Create an Institute of Excellence for IoT, establish an Institute to protect
Intellectual property and as the security is emerging as bigger threat, establish an
Institute for Cyber Security to deal with it,”
Skill Gaps
The impact of digital technologies is now felt not only in the IT department
but across the entire organization, creating a huge demand for disruptive
technology skills.
While at political level 1,000 British graduates will boost their digital skills
through paid internships with Tata Consultancy Services; but India lacks
innovation skills to use these new emerging technologies to their own
advantages. There are not many students learning programming for Industry
4.0. In this Gig Economy we need to stop thriving for useless engineering
degrees and take lead in creating opportunities using such futuristic
technologies.

India’s Dying Cheap Labor Based IT Service
Model, How About New Digital Labor Model?
Vineet Nayyar, former CEO of HCL Technologies once said
Let’s not forget, the IT industry in India was built on the back of cheap labour
India has largely capitalized on its large pool of English speaking IT
engineering graduates to attract enough outsourcing work from US, Europe,
and other geographies, but now this traditional IT Service Model is under
serious threat and all this is going to change sooner than you can think of.
and now, Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka, a Ph.D. in artificial intelligence from
Stanford University, says
India’s “IT miracle” as we know it. It is dead; It is over.
The future of IT Services Model has a lot of automation, artificial intelligence
and machine learning, and these technologies will be used excessively to
improve customer’s business efficiencies and will replace humans for much of
what we do now.
What Is Changing?
Have a look at some of these recent news articles and you will realize the
impact of automation on (un)employment
In fiscal 2015–16, Infosys released nearly 4,000 full-time employees from
projects as a result of automation of underlying services.
Another report says that automation reduces hiring of TCS, Infosys,
Wipro, HCL and Cognizant by 24%.
IT sector to lose 6.4 lakh “low-skilled” jobs to automation by 2021
Wipro to reduce headcount by 30% in next 3 years with investments in
automation, artificial intelligence, and digital technology
Wipro’s AI Platform Holmes Will Replace 3300 Engineers’ Jobs!
What Can You Do?
High margins are still possible, but not by linearly increasing head-count. If it
can be done by a machine there is no point getting it done by fresh
engineering graduate. Look for the futuristic wave of opportunities rather
than protecting underperforming legacy models.
You are replacing your jobs with algorithms. Why would anyone settle for a
human worker when faster and efficient 24*7*365 working algorithms can be
implemented?
According to NASSCOM, The big implications for
companies are:
The need to develop new service lines. New service lines will account for
40% of all revenues by 2025
Shifting portfolios to advanced, disruptive technologies
Managing customer digitization at different speeds. Companies will need
to cater to customers who are Digital leaders, Smart followers as well as
the Digital laggards
Re-skilling of people as revenues decouple from headcount
Forging new capabilities through M&A, partnerships, incubators, and
open innovation
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
What Can (Will) Go Wrong?
Companies, so far were labor biased will become capital-biased and that will
take wealth away from the labor; that means more and money will be spent
on automation and technologies and less on the human workforce. So with
larger margins due to new technologies, owner of the technologies will grow
richer while available human labor has to compete with robots/automation
for the lowest wages as long as it can.
So with increasing use of technology and decreasing use of human workforce,
wealth will move towards the owners of those technologies.
Most of the workforce feel that they are over-educated for their current
occupations and under-skilled for the future technologies, and with
diminishing returns on education, this problem will only grow more acutely.
Over To You Now
Robots are not the problem, humans are, because we are pathologically
addicted to ‘old style’ of work and our psychological worth is tied to our titles.
The fact is that “Work is Worship” is no longer true.
We need to be an entrepreneur within the organization and create “labour-
absorbing” technologies as opposed to “capital-intensive” technologies so that
the surplus population can be employed.
The real story of the future is not going to be a clash between technology and
unemployment impact, but will definitely become even more difficult to
address for our policy makers and associations like NASSCOM.

Industry 4.0 Could Be India’s Biggest
Manufacturing Innovation Opportunity
It’s been few years we are seeing a lot of media interest in Industry 4.0 that is
the fourth revolution in the field of manufacturing.
If we look at the regional interest there are only two countries Germany and
Japan.
Well, it makes perfect sense, but you could ask where is China?
Also, Were we expecting India? No, I guess.
India’s Opportunity:
“Digital India” and “Make In India” is already motivating enterprises and
industrialists for smart city initiatives, but there is no traction on the ground
except some media is talking about it.
India has this unique opportunity to lead the road to Smart Manufacturing
considering the fact that India has a long history of manufacturing and has a
large technology orientated talent pool that can be leveraged to make India
“The Digital Factory Of The World”
Indian IoT industry is expected to be worth US$ 15 billion and to connect 28
billion devices to the internet by 2020. Additionally, Government of India is
planning to develop five incubation centers for ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) start-
ups, as a part of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s Digital India and Startup
India campaign, with at least two centers to be set up in rural areas to develop
solutions for smart agriculture.

Is India Well Positioned To Lead The IoT Space?
Almost a year back I wrote an article about Internet of Things ( IoT ) specific
to India and explained why it is an unmissable growth opportunity for India.
If I look at what has gone into IoT space in India in the last one year—things
are not very promising.
Last week only, IOT India Congress that just happened in Bangalore, India—
aimed to bring the IoT practitioners (hardware—devices, portables, sensors,
software, business) and IoT enablers (regulatory, training, investors in IoT,
end users) to work together and create a platform that is industry efficient as
well as robust
Keynote speaker Sanjay Brahmawar, Global Head of BD at IBM Watson
Internet of Things—explained it well along with a few examples
Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad, was giving a video
address said that IoT was likely to generate economic benefits of almost $2
trillion to India. “We are sitting on the cusp of a big revolution,” he said
Is India Really Well Positioned For IoT?
Events like these have some value only if they result in some progress. Do we know
adoption rates of IoT in India? Is India really positioned to win this race?
How many warehouse owners, product distributors and shipment companies
are using IoT to track their fleet, products and services real-time and
providing benefits to their consumers
Where are those hospitals in India that use IoT connected medical equipment?
A Recentarticle on Entrepreneur India talked about many startups working on
asset tracking, wearables, digital signage and traffic monitoring, which are
fundamentally app-based models.
CXOtoday recent article also says that IoT would touch all aspects of human
life and Internet of Things (IoT) presents big opportunities for Indian Smart
Cities. CEOs have talked about visions and opportunities.
There are 13 Indian startups ( not a long list ) that are IoT specific working in
all areas like agriculture, automobiles, consumer goods, energy and
emergency management systems.
Meet Our Super Keynote Speaker
If you want to track progress on India based IoT products and startups
Youstory.in is a good place to start with
Some Threats
There are few threats as well. Internet of Things ( IoT ) enables automation in
a big way that leads to technological unemployment ( Job loss ). Securing IoT
network and devices are another big issues. India has IT advantage because of
large IT workforce but IT required to support IoT is different.
Though policy makers like NASSCOM have created IoT frameworks and COE
to enable and drive the various initiatives by leveraging, academia, industry,
government and Professional connects to democratize innovation in the IoT,
but there is hardly any marketplace for enterprise or consumer IoT products or
services
Recent Progress and IoT Market In India
Qualcomm is bullish about IoT adoption in India and their goals for India is
very clear. Being the largest patent holders in the IoT space, that is a positive
statement for IoT progress in India.
They have partnered with Phillips and Cisco for many projects in India and
some are for Smart Cities in India. Qualcomm is also mentoring 10 Indian
hardware startups for a chance to prototype their innovative tech products
and win $100,000 in funding.
India could be seen as a prominent outsourcing destination for the internet of
things (IoT) related services
As the global IoT business is expected to touch $300 billion by 2020, India
aims to capture 20% market share in another five years, but Will that
happen?

Slash Career Can Get You More Work, Money
and Fun
It’s not about career planning or career transition. It is about how you define
career?
ow you synergize your career, hobbies and dreams in a long run? and
make all relevant subtle changes for a more satisfying life
What is ‘Slash Career’?
Slash career is “One person with multiple careers”
You can also say it is a ‘Career with slashes’.
The way i say it i am a Client Solution Leader/Digital Marketer/ Digital Asset
Broker.
H
You could be Entrepreneur/Artist/Blogger/Journalist.
“A single xed identity is a liability today”, “It only makes
people more vulnerable to sudden changes in economic or
personal conditions. The most successful and healthy
among us now develop multiple identities, managed
simultaneously, to be called upon as conditions change.”

Why It’s Time to Embrace a ‘Slash’ Career?
Enjoy variety: Variety is the spice of life; same is true with career also.
Develop your hobby into a career sideline.
Kill that burnout: Invest your extra energy into something exciting so
that you don’t feel the burnout from your long time running primary
career.
Experience the inter-contentedness of multiple industry sectors. How
disruptive technology is changing healthcare system? How IoT ( Internet
of Things ) will solve environmental issues?
Unleash your multiple identities: You may be a tech research guy
spending all day in a lab, but that should not stop to come on cooking
channel, or talk on next TEDx event.
Future proof your career: Today you are A/B/C. Fast forward three
years, you become A/C/D/E, and in another four years you are C/E/F. Be
industry relevant, be future relevant.
Path to success: You might not be very successful in your current career,
slash career provides you an alternate path to success.

How It Worked Out For Me
More and more people are choosing ‘slash’ career, but that’s not the
motivation here.
Let’s have more clarity on why those people are after ‘slash’ career?
re they really choosing it, or all that is coming to them because they are
seeing a big picture and making their career future proof.
I started technology blogging in 2009 and I think its laxative, it brings me
more clarity to my thoughts and feelings. All that made me learn online
marketing and disruptive technologies, and later I started advocating the
same to startup community and individuals through Zen Virtual Ventures
As I was meeting a lot of small entrepreneurs in person and virtually
collaborating with other entrepreneurs on various crowd-sourcing
marketplace I realized that I have got myself poured into marketing and
branding, and that made me invest in digital assets that are now available at
Zen Domain Names.
oth of these additional slash careers are helping me evolve my multiple
identities, and along with multiple source of income I enjoy people who
are networked to me now, all because of those additional slashes I added.
Gail Sheehy in New Passages said this:-
“Stop and recalculate, Imagine the day you turn 45 as the
infancy of another life.” Instead of declining, men and
women who embrace a Second Adulthood are progressing
through entirely new passages into lives of deeper meaning,
renewed playfulness, and creativity beyond menopause and
male menopause”

Examples of Slash Careerists
History’s most notable slash careerists:
 -Benjamin Franklin (publisher/ politician/ technologist)
 -Leonardo da Vinci (artist/ inventor)

-Carrie Lane, art consultant/ Pilates instructor
-Dan Milstein, computer programmer/ theatre director
 -Robert Childs, psychotherapist/ violinmaker

-Oscar Smith, police officer/ personal trainer
What Can You Do?
If you think you are having trouble managing one career, it might be the
burnout and fatigue because of decade long repeated frustration coming out
of single career with enormous monotony.
You just need to create a plan to synergize your multiple identities and give it
a fresh look, and start something small, but start now. Don’t wait.

Doctors, hospitals & machines will be on the same page, accessing the right information—and all that will save lives, and you will live longer. 3D Printed Drugs & Organs 3D printing is going to transform medicine and how healthcare is delivered, from pills to hearing aids to human tissues and organs -all can be printed using 3D-printer Polypills, pills containing multiple drugs has been successfully printed. People would be able to have medicine tailored to their age, size, gender and medical requirements, rather than having to conform to current mass-production standards says Lucy Ackland, senior development engineer at the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
  • 3. Using multiple 3D printing tools, medical scientists at Princeton University have created a functional ear that can “hear” radio frequencies far beyond the range of normal human capability. In August 2015, SPRITAM (levetiracetam) drug became the first 3D printed medicine to receive FDA approval. • 6. 2050, there will be a “mental revolution.” We’ll have effective, safe treatments for at least 10 neurodegenerative disorders. And if we’re lucky, humans will have some telepathic communication capabilities. Currently one medical test leads to another, and then another, leading to medical overtreatment. There are hardly any benefits to patients about minor and very low-risk findings—and all that comes with financial and physiological impacts. Growing number of incidentals findings leads to over- treatment Overused medical services are already costing billions of dollars, and may be medical overtreatment is making us sicker, but futurist Kurzweil says that humans will be immortal by 2030 Data will make you live longer. “Curing Death” and “Reversing Aging” could be Google’s next milestones in the search for immortality. #HealthTech By

Technology Evangelist and Digital Futurist Aug 12 · 5 min read A Journey From Information Overload to Digital Overload to Algorithm Overload Information Overload Back in 1945, Vannevar Bush was already feeling the threat of “Information Overload” Vannevar Bush was inventor and science administrator during World War II - heading all wartime military R&D. He was concerned that information overload might inhibit the research efforts of scientists. ast forward few decades, monumental progress in the field of computation and internet made us always-on and we were multi-tasking like never before Then we started complaining about the loss of productivity and creativity. ew solutions to “Death by Information Overload” came—like self- discipline, task prioritization . • 8. People were always expecting more information, and decisions were delayed while waiting. Every 3 minutes people were switching tasks. Information Overload or Filter Failure Clay Shirky, a New York University new-media professor said “It’s not information overload. It’s filter failure”. More likely people have fear that they might miss something and ready everything that comes on the screen, even it is totally unrelated—or they keep looking for information that matches their mood. don’t need to read everything and watch all videos, you just can’t complete—so create intelligent filters -use tools and alerts Instead of you searching all the web let the content nd you There are just two things missing from this new ecology of media distribution: first, we need a way to share those signals of interest and context with publishers —with privacy well-protected—so publishers can build relationships with and better serve users. Second, we need the means to reward not just content-creators but also audience-creators, to motivate them to build these new means of bringing people to what interests them. Digital Overload Then came “Digital Overload”. many online platforms, always multi-tasking, compelled to fill idle time with hyper-linked lives, filled with digital distraction those beeps and notification sounds and the feeling what if you missed something. you check your inbox and then click on some video because the headline was so tempting. Every company out there is desperate to grab our attention “We have been seduced by distraction,” says psychologist Daniel Goleman, the author of Focus: the Hidden Driver of Excellence. “We are being pulled away from paying attention to the things that enrich our lives.” We So • • •

We all understand that every business is a digital business but you as an individual are unique, and you deserve real-life experiences -to have an enriched full-filling life Algorithm Overload Technology media is shouting that algorithms will soon rule our lives and we better understand it well. Stephen Hawking warns artificial intelligence could end mankind Stephen Hawking once said “Success in creating AI would be the biggest event in human history” Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft also agree that “Humans should be worried about the threat posed by artificial Intelligence” First the machines will do a lot of jobs for us and not be super intelligent. That should be positive if we manage it well. • 12. Yogesh Malik Future is already here, it is just unevenly distributed. Technology Evangelist and Digital Futurist Apr 30 · 4 min read Dealing with Data Democracy and Data Diplomacy in this Age of Data Economy Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Inventor of World Wide Web, once said: Data Is A Precious Thing And Will Last Longer Than The Systems Themselves Data has been always there, but now it’s real-time, faster and coming from everywhere, getting easier to analyzes, correlate and visualize; and all this can be used to transform and innovate current economic and business frameworks. So much so that today we are standing at the intersection of data, human rights, and our future; all governments and policymakers are equally confused about how to handle data-driven interventions? We know all this is useful to predict, automate and execute many actions and decisions; but all this is prone to error and what if we move away from the human context, may be one step away at a time and in coming time humanity becomes dependent on the autonomous system for all decision making. New technologies are allowing us to embed decision-making in the design of
  • 13. autonomous system built on various new and disruptive big data and social technologies. Who is going to measure and control the quality and source of data that will influence our evolving human race? How policymakers will come up with data laws and policies. Will they make their algorithms accountable for what decisions and actions they initiate based on some data coming from their drones positioned at sensitive geographic locations. How all that data is collected, stored, secured, transferred and shared? We may solve many problems with data-driven economy but expect more and more victims of data abuse in cases where direct beneficiaries forget to implement local and sensitive contexts to the autonomous supply of decisions taken by technologies Data is becoming the global heartbeat of digital society, and always-on smartphone and other devices enable citizens to report on emerging events, stream ground reports as events unfold, at the same time social platforms have become one of the primary organizing tools for any mass events. Recently only V-Dem Institute released a new “Varieties of Democracy” dataset. It provides about 15 million data points on democracy, including 39 democracy-related indices What is Data Democracy? Without the need to understand complex technology, all should be able to use, create, model, share and correlate open data for their personal, business and government purpose. Why is Data Democracy important? Data is everywhere, and now real-time social data enables feedback loop to your business framework, and there are insights and hidden messages that you want to visualize and use them to your benefits, be it feedback from market or missing feature in your product or creating wider sales funnel Earlier data analytics tools were used by large organizations but now they are available to everybody. These tools are very interactive as well as intuitive; so you don’t have to be a data scientist to use these tools. Data literacy of 21st century has enabled everybody to use raw and open data to their benefits, be it better decision-making power or create new innovative features and products for new evolving markets. This constant shift is empowering all people to make better-informed decisions by leveraging the power of data. What is Data Diplomacy?
  • 14. What is Data Diplomacy? Data is not just for businesses and enterprises, many government policies are becoming more and more dependent on data, and they are coming up with data-driven policies and that calls for the strong need for the role of diplomacy so that we can define how data will be shared and accessed among nations and organizations. Data abuse can harm individuals, governments, and organizations. Think of data that is very critical to confidence-building between two nations getting compromised or leaked and used by any other nation. There is big role that Data Diplomacy has to play so that social and political relationship between two nations or organizations can be maintained for the benefits of all What is Data Economy? Data is an asset today that generates hundreds of billions of dollars for the economy, but still there is not enough clarity and maturity on how this data will be used for benefits of mankind while protecting citizen’s personal data. On the other side of it, there are start-ups putting a value on the personal data economy. While is good that in the open data world , there will be less data dictatorship and this will allow more data-driven decision making even beyond organization or nation’s boundaries Data is like raw resource like oil, and growing very fast. A lot of added value can be created if use data creatively and provide a sustainable data value chain for a healthy data economy. This will benefits governments, businesses, individuals, and technologists to become a part of single self-sustainable data value chain Over to You Now What do you think of the future of Data Marketplace? How about services like Data as a Product? What about policies and legal frameworks to acquire or sell data? Source: EmergingTechIndia by @YogeshMalik • • •

Technology Evangelist and Digital Futurist yesterday · 4 min read How To Learn Di cult Subjects?—First, Learn How To Learn? My technology career is a little less than two decades old now and I was self- compelled to learn something new. It would have been easy for me to learn and get few certifications in IT infrastructure, cloud or project management, but I was totally consumed by the potential transformation that Machine Learning can bring to almost everything; from business to humanity. That made me learn Machine Learning and i also stated that in my earlier blog Why I am learning Machine Learning? I don’t have any background in data science or statistics so it wasn’t an easy task for me, and later it became an exponential learning for me.

With the assistance of machine learning, however, your IT production operations staff can make immediate sense of the potentially thousands of events generated across the environment. The ability to quickly see the signal from the noise, as well as to understand how the events are all related to a couple of situations, is known as IT situational awareness— something that all IT teams are looking to improve upon. Most people want to go to work and are highly miserable when they cannot. If you can’t make anything out of your life, you need a routine, a daily dose of someone else’s purpose, or imitate others and worry about all jobs going to robots. History of Labor Automation: Around 200 years ago, over 80% of the employable population in the US was in agricultural work, and now that number has been reduced to well under 5%. Technology has replaced jobs, and did everything faster and much more efficiently than humans, reduced most of the drudgery and danger of manual labor. Back then those farmers were not knowing that in 2016 humans will be building robots, writing code, driving trucks and engineering rocket science. Do you think all those farmers went unemployed? Do you think all those farmers went unemployed? Technology is created to serve humanity in a better way, and not to make sure that people keep their jobs. We should not pause on making technological progress just because we are afraid that someone might lose their job. Jobs were never secure anyway. Robots can do anything by itself and in a matter of 2 decades, it will learn every possible thing on this planet All this automation is just another way for those who have capital to generate more capital, they can use or abuse that power. As these new disruptive technologies are developed people should see it coming and adjust their approaches to things. If machines produce everything we need, the outcome will depend on how things are distributed. Everyone can enjoy a life of luxurious leisure if the machine-produced wealth is shared, or most people can end up miserably poor if the machine-owners successfully lobby against wealth redistribution. So far, the trend seems to be toward the second option, with technology driving ever-increasing inequality. ~ Stephen Hawking Will automation lead to economy collapse? What is the message here? What is changing? If you look at the growth of urbanization and technology it’s very clear that the job market in 2050 will be very different than the one we see today. Organizations will be recruiting workforce from a global pool of freelancers instead of traditional, full-time employees. Same organizations will have reduced the number of layers of management they have now, moving toward a flatter, more grid-like organization structure. The sharing economy is becoming a common marketplace; will become a part of future capitalism. The freelance economy is rising; Entrepreneurship is rising; Gig economy is rising. A company that has 50,000 employees today might have only 5,000 in 2050 while producing the same volume of food, goods, or services. Why this change? New technologies that are speedily enabling workplace innovations such as remote working, co-working spaces and virtual collaboration using virtual reality and augmented reality. Future organizations are likely to have an ever- smaller pool of core full-time employees for fixed-type functions, backed up by colleagues across the globe and external consultants and contractors for specific project related work. Where is the problem? Future technologies will be able to replace much of human labor. The concentration of wealth will increase because Return on Investment in capital and technology is usually better than labor. So expect higher unemployment. Experienced and aged people will have more employment as they will resist re-skilling and will be slow to adopt. • 46. What Can (Will) Go Wrong? Companies, so far were labor biased will become capital-biased and that will take wealth away from the labor; that means more and money will be spent on automation and technologies and less on the human workforce. So with larger margins due to new technologies, owner of the technologies will grow richer while available human labor has to compete with robots/automation for the lowest wages as long as it can. So with increasing use of technology and decreasing use of human workforce, wealth will move towards the owners of those technologies. Most of the workforce feel that they are over-educated for their current occupations and under-skilled for the future technologies, and with diminishing returns on education, this problem will only grow more acutely. Over To You Now Robots are not the problem, humans are, because we are pathologically addicted to ‘old style’ of work and our psychological worth is tied to our titles. The fact is that “Work is Worship” is no longer true. We need to be an entrepreneur within the organization and create “labour- absorbing” technologies as opposed to “capital-intensive” technologies so that the surplus population can be employed. The real story of the future is not going to be a clash between technology and unemployment impact, but will definitely become even more difficult to address for our policy makers and associations like NASSCOM.

Internet of Things ( IoT ) enables automation in a big way that leads to technological unemployment ( Job loss ). Securing IoT network and devices are another big issues. India has IT advantage because of large IT workforce but IT required to support IoT is different. Though policy makers like NASSCOM have created IoT frameworks and COE to enable and drive the various initiatives by leveraging, academia, industry, government and Professional connects to democratize innovation in the IoT, but there is hardly any marketplace for enterprise or consumer IoT products or services Recent Progress and IoT Market In India Qualcomm is bullish about IoT adoption in India and their goals for India is very clear. Being the largest patent holders in the IoT space, that is a positive statement for IoT progress in India. They have partnered with Phillips and Cisco for many projects in India and some are for Smart Cities in India.
