++ slides for my thesis presentation for the Interactive Telecommunication Program (ITP) at NYU in May 2013.
++ in short, Glyphcoder is an application for creating symbols that combine both the pictorial and alphabetic systems
++ with the growing dominance of ubiquitous computing, the way we record and represent information has been revolutionized. Information systems such as pictorial languages, have been particularly affected due to its inefficiency for use with modern computers. Further, programming languages have increasingly become the new literacy of the digital age. To the extent that languages shape the way we perceive the world, such choices to conform to a single information system, will risk cultivating a culture of homogenous ways of thinking. Glyphcoder is a personalized expressive notation system that combines digital technology with the tradition of pictorial language, thereby allowing the creation of a digitally encoded notation system
