The chronology:from grassroots concept to company Late 2010 - Shula Pollard can’t find affordable activities for her 3-year old daughter Early January 2011 – Shula organizes group of 10 moms in San Diego to kick in $5 per kid and hire an art teacher off Craigslist for 60 min class By late January, Shula’s “moms group” had grown from 10 moms to over 100 and doing 4 to 6 kids classes per week from kids yoga to arts & crafts to soccer, all at $5 per person February, Recognizing the organic offline traction, Shula brought in a proven CTO & Product designer to bring the concept online and expand into a fully functioning technology underpinned by social functionality April 28th, Shula opened Xplorin.com to her “moms group” & select instructors to gauge real user response… Feedback overwhelmingly positive – In past week, over 1000 mom’s and individual instructors request access from WoM Currently Shula looking to build out management and raise a seed round to ensure successful San Diego launch and rapid expansion to over 100 top US metro’s within 12 months
