Sampling Design: The research was conducted on a sample size of 171 Indian IT professionals working on SAP and 158 Indian IT professionals working onsite on BI in USA . The universe for this study was all the Indian IT professionals working in USA on all the SAP and BI softwares. The professionals were selected in the order they themselves approached or their resumes were sent to Formulasys Inc, on a first come first serve basis. A sample of 171 was selected in order to avoid any sampling errors for an actual sample size of 160 professionals. 2/14/2010 Niraj Dubey 13 Research Methodology
Sources and methods of data collection:   Primary data: Data for analysis was collected by telephonic conversation with these consultants using a structured questionnaire. Secondary data: Secondary data for understanding the subject and arriving at a problem statement was collected from internet, books and magazines. 2/14/2010 Niraj Dubey 14
Methods of analysis and statistical techniques: Initially a factor analysis was conducted in order to arrive at the key factors for the further data collection and analysis. The data hence collected was analyzed using bar graphs and pie charts. 2/14/2010 Niraj Dubey 15
Scheme of study: The study was conducted in three steps; A factor analysis to generate key factors. A data analysis based on these key factors. A conclusion was drawn based on these findings. 2/14/2010 Niraj Dubey 16
Limitations of study: Thestudy faces a major limitation of a small sample size. The authenticity of the engineers is a problem. There were communication barriers due problem in phone lines as the survey was conducted on a telephone. The project is related with the Indian IT professionals only and ignores US citizens in the survey.   2/14/2010 Niraj Dubey 17

Initially a Factor analysis was conducted on a sample of 20 IT professionals to generate the key factors to compile the questionnaire. This was done in order to understand the most important factors to be kept in mind by the middle men organization while bidding for the projects. First 20 IT consultants were asked if the following factors affect the process of assigning a project to a middlemen organization: 2/14/2010 Niraj Dubey 21 Data Analysis
The per hour rate of the consultant. The duration of the project. The educational qualification of the IT consultant. The visa status of the IT professionals. The total work experience of the consultants. The work experience of the consultants outside India. Sector the consultant has worked for previously. Consultants to be working onsite instead of offshore. The location preferences of the IT consultants. The gender of the consultant. The size of the team working on the project. The profile of the candidate 2/14/2010 Niraj Dubey 22 the key factors
To understand their agreement, Likert scale (5= Strongly Agree, 1= Strongly Disagree ) was used. The results were as under: 2/14/2010 Niraj Dubey 23
2/14/2010 Niraj Dubey 24 After factor analysis: The output is:- Communalities Extraction Method: Principal Component Analysis After factor analysis:The output is:- Communalities
2/14/2010 Niraj Dubey 25 Total Variance Explained Total Variance Explained
The Eigen value of rotated factor should be greater than ‘ 1’.Three factors were selected. 1. The per hour rate of the consultants. 2. The duration of the project. 3. The total work experience of the consultants. 2/14/2010 Niraj Dubey 26
2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 27 Number of Male and Female consultants working in USA
2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 28 Sap consultants:educational qualification , zone-wise, visa status, work experience
2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 29 function-wise , specialization, rate per hour
2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 30 industry-wise breakup
2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 31 Function-wise , Duration on bench
2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 32 BI CONSULTANTS:Male-Female ratio , educational qualification , Visa Status , work experience
2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 33 consultants on bench , working on
2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 34 Rate offered, consultants who are not available, their last project, location preferences
technical consultants with updated knowledge came into more demand. being on bench for a few months, most of the consultants were ready to work for rates between $40-60 per hour. maximum number of consultants had been on bench for 2 to 6 months. most of the consultants were willing to relocate anywhere in USA. some of the consultants who are still on projects have applied for a new project. 2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 35 Conclusion
6. Most of the IT consultants currently working onBI in USA are males 7. The researcher found that the clients preferred graduates over masters or doctoral candidates; this also could be due to the rate asked by these consultants. 8. The industry in which last project done is important while submitting consultant to the client as the client organization looks for the consultants who have specific industry experience. 2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 36
Update the database with consultant’s information that is important while bidding. The company can bid more projects that need more technical consultants as there is vast availability of technical consultants. The company should bid more up gradation projects as most of the ABAP consultants are having last project on up gradation. As most of the consultants are having last project done in Banking & Insurance, Healthcare and Manufacturing industry, the company should bid more projects in these industries. The company must accept maximum projects on cognos software as it has maximum demand from the clients. 2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 37 Suggestions and Recommendations
It is recommended that the company can bid low for those projects that need technical consultants as most of the technical consultants are ready to work at low rates due to recession. It can be suggested that the company must bid for the projects giving lower rate per hour for the consultants as maximum of the professionals are ready to work at lower rates. This will help the company to generate business during the downturn of the economy. The researcher can suggest the company to keep the project duration lower as the client companies are not willing to spend more time in implementing the software hence increasing their cost. 2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 38
The company should not bid those projects that need more number of Administrators because there are only a few administrators available. The company should bid projects that include implementation of financial accounting and control as there are more FICO consultants available in market. The company must bid on most of the projects irrespective of the location as the consultants are willing to relocate anywhere in USA. 2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 39

  • 35. technical consultants with updated knowledge came into more demand. being on bench for a few months, most of the consultants were ready to work for rates between $40-60 per hour. maximum number of consultants had been on bench for 2 to 6 months. most of the consultants were willing to relocate anywhere in USA. some of the consultants who are still on projects have applied for a new project. 2/15/2010 Niraj Dubey 35 Conclusion
