4. The cycle isn’t that hard to break. Most of the homeless have no need to be institutionalized. Most can live in a community as long as they have the support they need. Right now there aren’t enough treatment services offered where these mentally ill can find treatment and help. There are not enough communities that can provide the necessary support for these people. If one were given supportive services, meaningful work to do, access to therapy, and appropriate housing, they would have the framework necessary to end their own homelessness. There is not enough funding to do so.
