2. Distilled water Distillation involves boiling the water and then condensing the steam into a clean container, leaving most if not all solid contaminants behind.

3. Ultra filtration This is a variety of membrane filtration in which hydrostatic pressure forces a liquid against a semi permeable membrane. The membrane that will allow certain molecules or ions to pass through it by diffusion

4. Electro dialysis is used to transport salt ions from one solution through ion-exchange membranes to another solution under the influence of an applied electric potential difference.

5. Biosand filter The household slow sand Biosand filter is a simple design that uses basic readily available materials, allows for easy production, and is easy to transport. There are no moving parts, they do not require electricity and can be used by even the youngest members of the family.

Continued… The top few centimeters of the sand trap the bulk of micro-organisms The biological layer, which must remain partially wet, traps and feeds on the micro-organisms and contaminants in the water. Further filtration occurs in the lower layers of sand and gravel, which removes contaminants that cause odour, cloudiness, and taste

7. Clean Water for Haiti Clean Water for Haiti (CWH) is a volunteer run, faith based missions and humanitarian aid organization started in 2001. As a registered non-profit organization in Canada and the US, CWH works to provide sustainable solutions to the water crisis in Haiti.

8. Over 5 million in Haiti are without water it is CWH’s mission to see all of Haiti with water this is what the cost of a trip such as this to go help would look like Cost: $500 US per person. This includes all food, accommodation and in country transportation. All Vision Trippers are responsible for booking their own airfare, but we will assist you with travel arrangements where possible.
