4. EPHESUS
Ephesus which was established
as a fort, was used to be the most
important commercial centre . It
played a great role in the ancient
times with it’s strategic location.
Ephesus is located on a very
fertile valley .Ephesus once the
trade centre of the ancient
world, a religious centre of the
early christianity.

6. CLOCK TOWER
Clock tower is another
symbol of İzmir and it was
built in Konak Square in 1901.
It is heart of the city and it
can be said to be a meeting
place for many people. It is 25
m. height.

8. KORDON Konak
It is located between
Square and Alsancak. It becomes
one of the most crowded places
at the weekends. Especially
young people prefer going there
because there are bars and some
places for shopping. Kordon is
also famous for its phaetons.

10. It is the place where Mary
may have spent her last days.
Indeed, she may have come in
the area together with Saint
John, who spent several years
in
the
area
to
spread
Christianity. Mary preferred this
remote place rather than living
in crowded place.

12. An elavator from 19th century.
It is 51 metres in height. It links
Mithat Paşa street to the Halil Rıfat
street. It was built in 1907 and
restored by the
government in
1993. On the upper side there is an
open cafe and a restaurant.

14. It was an ancient Greek city
that became the capital of the
Kingdom of Pergamon during the
Hellenistic period. Pergamon is
called as one of the seven
churches of Asia.
